*highlights from throughout the Games are shown on a TV screen while an announcer voices over it*
Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the summary of the 25th Annual Hunger Games. All the questions you might have had about this year’s games, right here, with your host Caesar Flickerman, and this year’s winner, Blight. *the camera cuts to Caesar and Blight sitting on a stage*
Caesar: Hello and welcome to another fantastic Hunger Games summary show. I’m your host Cesar Flickerman, and with me is this year’s winner, all the way from District 7, fresh from the Hunger Games arena, Blight. *crowd cheers* So Blight, how does it feel to have outlasted everyone else in the games this year?
Blight: It’s fantastic Cesar. I mean, a few times I thought I was a goner, but in the end I managed to pull through.
Caesar: If you don’t mind, I think we’d all like to see how you pulled through. Roll clip. *a large screen started projecting footage from the games, starting from the beginning*. Let’s start at the beginning, with the initial bloodbath. That to me would be the most difficult thing to survive.
Blight: Yeah, if you run into the bloodbath. I kept hidden until everyone left and got anything left over.
Caesar: So you survived six days on stuff other people didn’t want?
Blight: It worked, didn’t it?
Caesar: Touché. Well, after we lost ten tributes in that bloodbath, no-one else died that day.
Blight: My guess is that they were either recovering, or trying to find somewhere safe to make camp.
Caesar: You’d be right in saying that, though there was still some nocturnal activity. Let’s see what happened here. *footage of Thresh sitting in the shadows near Johanna* Now, as you can see here, Thresh is well within range of killing Johanna, but it looks more like he’s waiting for something.
Blight: Possible hoping someone comes up and makes an attempt on her life so that he can play the ‘big, strong hero’ and make an alliance with her.
Caesar: Could be. Now, let’s shift our attention elsewhere *camera cuts to Katniss looking over the Career tributes* I think Katniss might have identified someone.
Blight: Probably Cato. He’s pretty noticeable.
Caesar: That’s what I thought too. But here’s where it gets interesting. *footage shows a rustling in the bushes*. The group is alerted to something. They go in to investigate it and…BANG! Peeta’s dead. Looks like he was trying to do what Thresh did, except with one of the pack.
Blight: Again, I’m thinking Cato.
Caesar: Indeed. Let’s move on to Day 2 shall we? *footage of Day 2 starts playing*. You guys went a bit all over the place at the start there.
Blight: Yeah, it was a bit chaotic there. I think I might have tried to kill Katniss at some point.
Caesar: You did. But in the end, everyone ganged up on Beetee.
Blight: Yeah, that was a bad move. Really should have tried to take down the pack.
Caesar: Yes, well, that night was interesting for you.
Blight: Yeah, Katniss found me.
Caesar: Even though you tried to kill her, she was still willing to work with you.
Blight: Yeah, guess she was looking for an ally.
Caesar: Well, the night was not without its tragedies though. Here we see the pack sneaking up on poor Johanna, and BANG, another one bites the dust.
Blight: Was Thresh doing anything that night?
Caesar: Nope, just looking out for himself it looks like. Now, let’s move on to Day 3. *footage of Day 3 starts playing*. We see here a couple of people made attempts at killing Cato, but when people from outside the pack started moving to kill Glimmer, even other members of the pack turned on her. The other three got away, but really it was the beginning of the end for them.
Blight: Yeah, one a day until the end of the Games. That really helped everyone.
Caesar: Well, night was certainly active too. Thresh was back to his silent guard routine, this time with Katniss.
Blight: I thought I heard someone in the bushes.
Caesar: Now, as we see here, Katniss has found little Rue, and now she has two allies. Meanwhile, the pack had more devilish plans. Poor Wiress never saw it coming.
Blight: Yeah, well, no problem. We still outnumbered them.
Caesar: Yes, and numbers became a real factor for taking out your next victim, Clove. Like most days, at first you guys were all over the place, but then POW, the pack was half gone.
Blight: Yeah, we really outdid ourselves that time.
Caesar: However, disaster struck that night. Katniss, while attempting to approach Cecilia, was caught by Cato and Marvel. What did you and Rue do?
Blight: We got the hell out of there. Those guys were freaking psychos.
Caesar: Fair enough. Meanwhile, Thresh was looking out for himself again. Really, if he wanted an alliance with someone he should probably protect them.
Blight: I guess he’s just weird like that.
Caesar: Indeed. Now for Day 5. Katniss’s death infuriated most of you. So what did you guys do?
Blight: We tracked down Cato, and we kicked his ass.
Caesar: And kick his ass you did. You must have also been looking for Marvel too though?
Blight: We figured they’d be together. We just hoped that we could get both at the same time.
Caesar: Well, that didn’t work. But you got another one, that’s what’s important.
Blight: Hell yeah.
Caesar: Now, the five of you began searching for Marvel in the dark. Would you consider that a mistake?
Blight: I guess if we stayed together it might not have been so bad, but in the end Cecilia’s death was necessary to my victory.
Caesar: Right you are. So, anyway, the final Day came, and it starts with . . . People gunning for you?
Blight: Yeah, I don’t know what happened there.
Caesar: Well, you were lucky, because suddenly Marvel came up on the other three’s radar. There was a long brawl, and then…they were all gone.
Blight: You mean dead right?
Caesar: Well, Marvel yes, but the others were gone.
Blight: Oh well, more victory for me.
Caesar: I guess you’re right. Now, before we go, I’d like to cross to a special guest we have for tonight, Game Master Seneca Crane, here to tell us about what might have happened if the game got boring.
Seneca: Thank you Cesar. Yes, this year’s Hunger Games was so exciting, that we didn’t feel the need to do anything to spice it up. Disappointing, since we put so much work into it. So, I’m here to tell you about what might have happened. Ten little game changers, in order of least to most bastardish:
10. Extra day phase: A secondary day phase added onto the current day phase, making day last 96 hours.
9. Extra night phase: Two consecutive night phases, making night run for 48 hours.
8. The assassin: A random tribute would suddenly become an assassin, and would be playing for themselves.
7. Blocking the seer: A random player would be unable to be scanned by the seer.
6. Reveal player role: Hmm, wonder?
5. Usurper: A random Career would have to outlive the other Careers in order to win (assuming, of course, they last to the end of the game).
4. Deathproof: A random player would become invincible until the next time someone tries to kill them (whether that’s because of lynching and Career, it doesn’t matter).
3. Hated: A random player would die if they got less than 50% of the votes, but still had the most votes of the day.
2. One life elder: Again, wonder?
1. Mutts: All dead players team up and pick someone to kill. This power could have been used day or night, but once they picked, that was it. No more involvement in the game.
Caesar: Well, that’s it for us from The Capital. My name’s Caesar Flickerman, good night Panem. *camera cuts out*
