Hey everyone, Valoniah here again with another edition of Small talk. Today's question: Tell us about the origin of your party.
Lets start with Minna.
Minna: The origins of my party hmmm. Well lets see it was a balmy day in April 2009. I thought to myself "self, the political party scene is dying" ACN was disappearing, UPP was gone... The elections had so few people running, it was usually between the candidate and "I decline to vote for said Candidate." So I decided to create a party that welcomed any and all Islanders, so I could convince people to run and maybe have a few good candidates up there on the podium. We all got together and Ananke brought muffins and there were dedications and speeches and alcohol (Can't forget the wine!) and voila... TIP was born.
And sure for a while, it was all TIP all the time... but now!
Now!!! We have a GREAT Political Party Scene and it makes me really happy when I see candidates representing other Parties... Its very cool indeed!!
Val: Minna, every time you talk, I love you a little more. Always such nice things to say. How about you Ketab?
Ketab: I can't remember a specific event that prompted me to create the Mayor Shelter Political party. All I can say is that I had been noticing Shelter's specific political ideologies and chose to make a party that is based on the most radically carefree environment for policy making. So I asked Shelter if I could use his name for the party, to which he agreed but said he would not join but stay with his current party. And here we are.
Val: I am a fan of the Shelter method myself. How about things over in the XKI Mafia party Glasgia?
Glasgia: Doesn't every where need a mafioso? Seriously though, it wasn't quite like that
I was back in 10KI for my 2nd stint in the region (and so far I'll be staying with you guys), when I stumbled across the political party. I couldn't find anything I agreed with completely. Maybe I could've gone to something close to what I liked. I decided I would start my own party based on my political ideals... Then screwed up that plan and chucked it in the bin.
I decided that 10KI deserved a dedicated family, where you can have fun as long as you buy me cookies. Sure, I added some politics to suit a mafia party, but if I was being totally serious that's not me. I just thought a party should have some ideas.
Val: Sounds like a plan to me. If you can't find a party to suit you form your own, which brings me to The Defender party. I had just resigned as TO, and felt I needed to stay involved. I have always aspired to one day be like Hockeynuttville, who was the Delegate when I joined. The obvious path to Delegate: enter politics. I didn't want to join any of the existing parties, so I formed my own. It tends to attract people of a like mind, I guess that's the point of a party. We have good a good time in TDP, and I'm glad we're going strong.
As Minna said, the political party situation is going pretty well. We have multiple parties and they all run candidates. As the South Senator, this makes me very happy. As a reminder, if anyone needs any help with their party, or wants to start a new one, please let me know. I'm here to help.
Thank you everyone for reading Small Talk #2. We'll be back soon with a new question and new answers!
