Shiloh- The Malecian Government today announced the indictment of highly placed employees of the Whitewash Corporation in connection with the attempted insurgency and the terrotist bombing of the new Genral Asembly building in Shiloh earlier this week. The indictment charges the defednats with conspiracy to commit treason; attempt to incite insurrection, and violation of the Graham Act, as well as numerous lesser charges which include destruction of property owned by the people. The Graham Act is a law that was passed before the civil war that forbids unauthorized citizens from engaging in diplomacy.
MBI and CTD officials outlined a scheme in which Whitewash was attempteing to influence the debate over the private military contractor amendment that was part of the overall defense appropriations bill for FY 2011. CTD spokeswoman Mary Dresller stated that the investigation was given top priority and that the MBI was vital to the effort. "Without the help from MBI, we would have never been able to move this quickly," she stated.
The defendants include the top two executives from Whitewash, CEO Matthew Smith and COO Andrea Dinozzi. Evidence presented to the grand jury includes audio conversations of negotiations between Whitewash, members of the Malecian People's Union party, and nationals from an unidentified country. When the identity of the foreign nationals was requested, Ms. Dressller declined comment, only to say that an emissary would be sent to that country for the purposes of sharing intelligence.
Pretrail motions in this case are expected to be filed next week. Defense Attorney Marvin Kaye of the firm Kaye, Wright, and Curtiss has called the evidence specious. "To say that the audio recordings are an accurate representation of what happened would be stretching the truth. The government has no eyewitnesses, no material witnesses, and no physical evidence. In fact, without these so -called recordings, the governments case would be entirely circumstantial," Mr. Kaye said outside the federal court in Shiloh.
In response, Malecian People's Attorney Jeanette Jones-Mills said, "the recordings were authenticated by experts from MBI and CTD. We believe they represent the true facts and let's not forget what Mr. Kaye would like you to ignore: Whitewater stood to make millions of the passage of the PMC amendment. If that doesn't scream motive I don't know what does." Ms. Jones-Mills said that barring a plea deal, she expects the trial to begin this fall, with jury selection anticipated in early September.
