Poet Laureate Competition June 2012
Well everyone it's time to vote! Polls will be open 5 days so you have plenty of time to think about the entries.
All entries are anonymous and I will reveal their respective authors after the competition closes. Unless I get a PM that says please, for the love of God, don't reveal me. (that specific wording is necessary).
A reminder of the rules. It's up to you to decide just how well each poem embraces these requirements.
- Poem must be in five stanzas.
- Poem must rhyme.
- Poem must contain the words: Taco, Margerita, beach, archipelago, invader, TITO.

Without further ado, the entries (in the orter they were received).
I had a dream the other night;
in it I saw a blinding light.
My missles could not fire that high
but Space Invaders spanned the sky.
Like an archipelago they were
scattered 'crost it from near to far.
On the beach they landed with rocket glow
packing down the sand so TITO.
She emerged, said "wantacome for a ride?"
"Margerita," said I, "I'm your guy."

GRUB’S VISION
Ten Thousand Islands, did Grub dream-see,
Where Nations might be Strong and Free.
A Region where the Taco rules;
The Margarita, so fresh…and cools!
“Bring forth stout drink, your Gin, fine Wine,
For here upon this Beach of Mine,
Where Bacon sizzles and Schnitzel broils,
Rejoice that Honor ever Toils!
“The Frail, the Meek, the Poor, the Wronged,
May gather here in Defense Strong,
And find a Place of Future Bright,
Where All may Revel in Delight.
“For here, Invader, fear TITO Might!
We’ll come for you, in Dark of Night –
To rid the World of Ancient Scourge,
And let Sweet Justice…Freedom…Merge!”
When Grub awoke, he did Decree:
“I had a Vision, and It Shall Be.”
Archipelago! You came to pass,
Up to the Fore of Regions Vast.

Note to an Invader
Invader scum I wonder why
You do the things you do:
Is bullying your only skill?
Did someone pick on you?
Of course you realize that now
You’ve started down this path
You’re going to meet the TITO crowd
And then you’ll feel their wrath
They had to leave their island home;
Because of you they’ve missed
The margarita happy hour
So rest assured they’re pissed
Don’t think the numbers you’ve deployed
Will save you from their reach
Their army soon will storm the shore
And drive you from the beach
I’m confident that they’ll prevail
I’d bet my last taco
They’ll kick your tail and return to
Their archipelago
My ode to 10000 Islands
10000 Islands is my beach haven
When I’m feeling saucy or just plain craven
With rocky shores and white hot sand
This region has become my land.
Taco Island is just one of the many archipelagos
It’s the place to spam if you’re feeling bit lumbago
In the Tiki Bar a margarita is quite refreshing from the seniorita
And you must enjoy it with a choco taco or a very tasty fajita
From Random and Nicknames for All to the Werewolf Game
And the Officers count up while others silence their fame
The list is plenty long for islanders to enjoy
Every thread turns into a brand new toy.
Defending is the name of our favorite game
When we come a marching everybody knows our name
When we meet invaders in battle we simply say ‘laters’
Because they know TITO will put them back in their craters.
10000 Islands is indeed the place to be
Especially when you’re on a spamming spree
Everyone here is so friendly and fine
It really isn’t because of the wine!
Don’t forget the ultimate prize
Do some daily exercise.
Remember, TITO is our name,
Delicous Taco is our food,
Defende archipelagos is our game,
Destroy invaders is our beach,
If you aren't afraid, you should.
There once was an invader named Screech,
Who raided Archipelago Beach,
He stole many a taco,
But was stopped by TITO Knight Paco,
Parties ensued with Margaritas of Peach.
There once lived an old TITO,
who made his home on an archipelago,
A well known invader trouncing hero
who loved eating Tacos,
He was so famous they named a Margarita after him at the bistro.

Upon a sandy beach I walked alone
And let the sea-wind tangle in my hair;
The ocean's voices whispered on the stone
With visions of a region free and fair.
The sun shines brightly, but with gentle rays,
Reflected in the waves that swell below;
No hurricane disturbs the peaceful days
Upon the islands of the archipelago.
Beneath a swaying palm tree, unafraid
Each citizen his country's flag unfurls
Or sips a margarita in the shade,
Reclining on the sands as white as pearls.
Should rash invader dare to tread that land,
Swift fury will strike down the hostile horde;
Unyielding as an iron wall, here stand
The knights of TITO with protecting sword.
With tacos do they purchase things of worth,
Yet give to each new nation, without fee,
A welcome joyous as the springing earth,
A fellowship as boundless as the sea.
