Malecian Department of Defense spokeswoman Geraldine Crenshaw announced today that an attempted covert landing by nearly 500 members of the ousted Malecian Union party was thwarted today by the Malecian Navy and Marines and elements of the Malecian Army's 181st Aviation Brigade (Special Operations Capable). Ms. Crenshaw stated that the investigation into the insurgents' origin and objectives was still ongoing.
The Union Party was ousted 8 years ago after a long and bloody civil war. Defeated 7 years prior in Malecia's first free and open elections, the Union party tried to have the results nullified. When that was unsuccessful, the party attempted to install a totalitarian regime. Their efforts touched off a civil war between themselves and the Malician Freedom Alliance. The Alliance included most military units, who recognized the legitimacy of the election results.
Ms. Crenshaw stated that more news will be forthcoming when the investigation is concluded.
Despite conflicting ideologies, the Kannexian Prince sends congratulations to Malecia and its newly elected government.
"On behalf of the citizens of Kannex, His Majesty the Rightful Prince of Kannex and his High Council sends congratulations and salutations to the Government of Malecia for its successful struggle against evil and the protection of its citizens. May the New Government last a thousand generations!"
The Secretary of State of the Republic of Malecia graciously and humbly accepts the warm sentiments of His Majesty and the High Council. Malecia is looking forward to the day when His Majesty welcomes a Malecian Ambassador to the Royal Court. May all Kannexians live in peace and prosperity under the guidance and Leadership of the Prince!

Hamish White, Foreign Secretary of H.M's government accepts the invitation wholeheartedly. An embassy has been prepared for the nation of Malecia in the capital city on the waterfront of the river Harlbolder. A quick fifteen minute drive from the Foreign Office building itself. We encourage however large an embassy staff as needed and especially to spend their earnings in local Patrivian businesses.

Shiloh Associated Malecian Press and wire services
The Malecian Central Intelligence Service's Counter Terrorist Division announced today that Material Witness warrants have been issued for key employees of Whitewash Corporation, a private military contractor. CIS chief Robert Kane credited the CTD's Billington Field Office with uncovering a link between the company and the recent attempted insurgency.
More noteworthy is the fact that the attempted insurgency and the recent terrorist bombing in Shiloh may have been linked. Mr. Kane declined to name the subjects of the warrants, stating only that the witnesses were high level employees of the company. Whitewash currently employs 350 people.
"What I can tell you is that the two incidents, which we originally though to be unrelated, are in fact linked to each other. That is definite. Whether the attacks are connected to Whitewash is not an issue I can discuss at the present time."
Speculation is that Whitewash orchestrated both attacks as the General Assembly prepared the final draft of the 2011 Defense Appropriations Bill. "The theory is that Whitewash was hoping the attacks would prove to the G.A. that there is a need for PMCs to supplement Malecian troops. What better way to do that than to stage a couple of attacks?" stated retired General Mills Sheppard. General Sheppard is a media consultant and comments on military and defense issues. "Whitewash is a small startup, but they've grown exponentially from a few dozen veterans of the civil war, to more than 350 employees. That increase in personnel occured in just over 120 days."
Macintyre "Mac" Power, Special Agent in Charge of the Billington Field Office, stated that the investigation left him feeling exaspeated when all of the facts had been gathered. "This whole thing is starting to look like a season of '24'," he said when asked for comment. '24', is the wildly popular, but recently cancelled T.V. series that depicted the hour by hour happenings of the fictitious Counter Terrorist Unit in the United States.
Malecian Department of Labor Spokeswoman Elizabeth Crane stated that private military contractors are propping up all over Malecia. "These firms establish themselves as 'security consultants' but in reality, they are troops for hire. The pay is substantially more than standard military pay, if the right contracts can be acquired."
Footage from an anonymous source shows three Whitewash employees clearly in a meeting with insurgency leaders. The incident has the new government on a knife's edge, as it struggles to re-establish the economy and establish diplomatic ties with its neighbors in the 10000 islands.

Patrival shall send Sir Robert Mannerudd, decorated war hero and peace broker in a recent conflict between Patrivian farmers in the colonies and the indigenous population, at the head of a diplomatic team of similar numbers to the young democracy of Malecia.
Secretary of State Louise Cross prepares to receive Sir Robert at the newly opened Malecian State Department building across from "Embassy Row" in Shiloh. Ms. Cross will inform Sir Robert that a invitation to a state dinner in King Edward's honor is extended, in the hopes that His Majesty will visit the Republic and tour Shiloh.
