Residents of the capital city, Hwaiteu-Gyomuen, were woken at night by what seemed to be fireworks and firecrackers exploding rather loudly in the Thu-An Ward and the Imperial City. When they looked closely, however, they could see it was no celebratory event.
When concerned citizens across the large, sleepy metropolis tried calling 110, however, they found the emergency hotline unresponsive. Many, unsure of what to do, went back to sleep.
The next morning, 1,483 soldiers and many tanks rolled through the streets of Hwaiteu-Gyomuen, and men in military uniforms called for a "Freisth Restoration" and the end of the corrupt Imperial Government, which they perceived as unholy. Many of the citizens immediately understood what happened-- a coup d'etat had taken place. Right in the capital, and the political heart of Kannex.
Fighting, however, still continued in the Imperial City, where the Imperial Palace was located, and the Thu-An ward, where many important Kannexian government buildings were located. Gunfire and artillery fire echoed throughout the city, as the rest of Hwaiteu-Gyomuen sat down to eat their lunches in silence and hope for the best....
The Emperor, the Prime Minister, and the Cabinet are reported to be in the Imperial Palace, where rebel troops where trying to invade in order to "secure the safety of His Majesty". Their status is unclear. The Malecian Ambassador Morris is also in the Palace, but no word has been heard from her nor her delegation. The status of many of the Imperial Kannexian Government is also unknown.
Several divisions of the Kannexian Elite Imperial Guards are currently defending Thu-An ward and the Imperial Palace, and are besieged and calling for help...
