"No apologies are necessary, Your Majesty," I have letters to write to the leaders of Boltor, Takaram, and Humansanity, thanking them for their help and apologizing for the deaths of their troops in this war. I am grateful I do not have to write the same letter to you."
It was about midday when the first Surdran transport plane departed for Malecia. Inside were ten pallets of MREs and eight pallets of medical supplies. Also along for the ride was 2nd Platoon, C Company of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, commanded by no other that Prince Adam, the King's oldest. They would be the first of many more follow on units heading south in the next few days. Among the units that had orders to head south were the 671th Combat Support Hospital, the 114th Engineer Battalion, and the 314th Military Police Company (Guard). Also preparing to head south was the KSNS Hope and KSNS Repose Hospital ships.
All over the Kingdom the call went out the call for supplies and volunteers for Malecia. Hundreds of doctors, nurses, EMTs, and other medical professionals volunteered. Luckily the Kingdom of Surdra kept large stores of emergency supplies (rations, medical supplies, tents, etc.) around the country, all that was needed was for them to be loaded on planes and flown south.
In the command tent outside Hellas where some of the most intense fire had taken place, Colonel Watson of the Malecia Army's Medical Corps fought fatigue as he looked over the reports of treatment on his desk.
An aide came into the tent and handed him a communiqué that had just been received.
He read what it said:
"Medical personnel from the Kingdom of Surdra wil arrive shortly to aid in treating wounded. Please give all necessary courtesy and information to aid them. They are also bringing badly needed medical supplies and will need to know where said suplies are most required."
The Colonel tok a breath and sighed. Happy at last to have relief.
The Malecia Air Force had set up a temporary air strip for incoming supply runs and the first Surdran plane was on approach. The pilot lined up for his landing as the lights chased into the early morning horizon.
After passing the outer marker, the pilot turned onto his final approach as the big transport's landing gear came down. The runway was a lone black strip in the morning frost that blanketed the land on either side of it.
The aircraft landed and as it slowed to taxiing speed, a vehicle pulled in front of it with a red and white checkered flag indicating the large plane should follow it. The big craft taxied over to an area where trucks and troops stood by to unload supplies and transport medical personnel.
Over the next few hours, landings like this took place all over Malecia as airplanes from the allies and Surdra helped the war torn country begin its journey back from the brink of destruction.
(OoC: If nobody has objections, I'm going to end this thread here, as the belligerents have left and the country is rebuilding, so we can RP the reconstruction in the diplomacy thread).
