The electoral college is important, even if it should be ratified (and it should imo). It says something to me when the majority of general populace and lawyers think it should be abolished completely, but majority of political scientists think it shouldn't.
I used to be a popular vote person until a political science teacher in college steered me 'round. Nothing like seeing our system through the eyes of someone born and raised in a place like Iran to help with some perspective. He knew his stuff.... too bad I used to be such a lazy schmuck or I would have taken notes.
Do you care to elaborate? Or will you just fall back to the typical, whiny KKKonservative technique of crying "you're just lazy and immature"? Yes, other places have it worse. That still doesn't justify the existence of outmoded injustice in our society.
With the current technostructure we don't need the Electoral College.
But, of course, you'll probably say I'm wrong because of my age. I will address this matter ahead of time. Yes, young people can be idiots. So can old people. Here is somewhat of a metaphor I made up. Person A can sit in a classroom for five years. He can repeatedly take the class and fail, but other people can come in and pass the course in a year. The others can absorb more information in a month than Person A does in half a year. Whatever Person A's reasons for failing. Should Person A be considered more knowledgeable on the topic than the others just because he is older? No. What if he is a complete jerk? Should we respect him because he has a few more wrinkles? No. Should we respect him solely because he is a person and hope he returns the favor? Yes. What if he doesn't? Then no, we shouldn't. There is no logic behind the age argument. Just stereotypes.
To further elaborate. What do you know about me? You think I don't have life experiences because I'm young? You don't know me, you have no right to talk of my thought process. What about all the old people who did nothing with their life except sit around all day? Why should I apologize for my opinion just because I'm young. I can't help my age. The age argument is on par with apartheid.
Furthermore, I know I've kind of stereotyped you and made assumptions about you in this post. I do apologize for that. There was no way around it.
