Sure. Hakan Nesser. Per Wahloo and Maj Sjowall. Henning Mankell. Jo Nesbo. Arnaldur Indridason. Martin Cruz Smith. Steve Hamilton. Those are cold weather writers who do it well.

Kurt Wallender is the only one I know on that list. You really should be talking to my wife, coz she devours crime/detectives/mysteries like there's no tomorrow Personally, I like French mysteries and police series (like Falco and Candice Renoir) and the old English stuff, like Sherlock Holmes.

I read a series that took place in Marseilles, the only French mysteries I've read. I'll check out Renoir, I like to vary geographically.
