Canadian Press Release
Canada Opens its Doors to Outside Observers[/u]
In an effort to make Canada more visible to the NationStates world, the Canadian government has opened up its forum. Previously, potential viewers had to register and sign in on the forum to access its contents.
The idea was championed by C-Ton, a prominent local RPer who wanted to post links to the Canadian forum on the NationStates forum. The idea was met with the overwhelming support of Cabinet and regional members.
"Honestly, the pros outweigh the cons here," said Checkers McDog, Canadian regional delegate and a forum administrator. "Now without having to sign up (which many I know, don't like doing), people can read our forums, and get a good feel as to what our regions about politically, and also how much fun we are to hang out with in the OOC forums."
Checkers said that she believes opening the forum to guests will actually encourage more people to join the forum. "Perhaps they'll find something that they're aching to reply too, or just decide that this is something that they'd like to be a part of....something they'd never know, without viewing the forums."
She, however, is not blind to the potential drawbacks. "People may find some opinions, or political ideals, on our forum that they may disagree with, and it could have some negative repercussions for the region, but I guess that's just a chance we'll have to take."
Overall, Canada's delegate remains confident this is a positive move for the region. "Canada already has several 'big name' players visiting our forums, and bringing our region to a higher level on the NS world stage," said Checkers. "I undoubtedly think that opening up our forums for all to view will only help our region in that respect."
