From the impression of Grub's initial telegram to our region, it seems you have some proposals. So any discussions on such a topic will be my greatest concern of interest.

In the mean time I will be posting periodic news reports every couple of weeks.

Weekly Regional Update: Week of 3/13/07

• President Theore announced that the NAS has declared war on Marijuana Militia, questions as to the constitutionality of the decision have been brought forth;
  
• Minister of Defense Xalphox unsuccessfully raided Marijuana Militia. Minister Xalphox is now being accused of incompetence and insubordination;
  
• Rain_of_God has been selected to be Director-General for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  
• Rational Nobility has been selected to be Director-General for the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs;
  
• Greater Tirana has been elected Secretariat of the General Assembly;
  
• Qufafi has been re-elected Regional Magistrate and has reassumed his position as Chief Regional Magistrate;
  
• A bill to establish a monetary system is currently being voted on by the General Assembly;
  
• The Ministry of Immigration is holding a recruitment drive to counter the sharp drop in population over the past few months.

Update on the issue:


Xalphox's attempted raid was a suprise for the NAS, not only because of the fact that Xal tried to raid a region with a founder, but because the mission was the liberation of Florida and Alaska. Following the failed raid, Xaphox stood in MM, trying to gain their trust as a spy. Xal was told to return to the NAS, after a post on the MM forum made it clear that they knew his intentions. Xal did not, and an investigation on the MM raid followed. Despite some strong pressure from prominent members such as Cathy the Benevolent, Shrievalty Ocula, and myself, Xalphox refused to resign. Ultimately, Xalphox cracked under the weight of political pressure and his impending trial. He has chosen to leave the NAS and join MM.

Weekly Regional Update: Weeks of 3/26/07 and 3/19/07

After much pressure from some members of the executive council, Minister of Defense and Regional Security Xalphox has resigned from his post and left the Non Aligned States. Some members expressed disapproval of the fact that Xalphox was pressured to resign before his trial.

The Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs released its report on the Xalphox investigation. The report states that the former Minister of Defense and Regional Security disobeyed the President's orders, and was guilty of being negligent and incompetent. It also recommends his removal from office. The investigation was completed after Xalphox left the region.

Shrievalty Ocula has brought charges against Hikuroshi. Shrievalty stated "He has repeatedly questioned my competance as Minister for Information and Communication, and activley sought my removal from office, without substantial grounds." Hikuroshi has made a formal apology, but Shrievalty declined to dismiss the charges.

The NAS Bank has been approved by the General Assembly, and will begin operations with Hikuroshi as its Director.

Pilot_president D has been appointed the new Minister of Defense and Regional Security. Rational Nobility will take Pilot's old position as Minsiter of Justice and Internal Affairs.

Shrievalty Ocula has placed an act in the General Assembly to remove his ministry, the Ministry of Information and Communication, with a new Ministry of Culture.

Former NAS Minsiter of Defense, Xalphox, has made claims that NC Warrior, a First Sergeant in the NAS Army, has continued to harass him with telegrams in Nationstates. Xalphox tried to press charges, but Regional Magistrate Qufafi declined to hear the case, as Xalphox isn't a citizen of the NAS.

The NAS is excited to welcome an old friend back to its forum. Spike Mountain, a long time citizen of the NAS, has returned to our forum and served as a bridge between the NAS and his new region, Darkness Falls. The NAS and Dark Falls have opened embassy with each other.

Weekly Regional Update: Week of 4/1/07

A slew of new proposals hit the General Assembly, and just about every board on the NAS forum has focused on one thing, change.

A new bill proposing the creation of a new NAS intelligence agency, dubbed NASIS, has recently hit the General Assembly. The new bill improves on an older effort to revive the defunct CIN.

An NAS Navy? Inspired by Minister of Defense and Regional Security's creation of an NAS Air Force, an all rp force, a member of the NAS Army has asked for the creation of an NAS Navy. The NAS Army, which has stepped up rp after the botched invasion of Marijuana Militia, seems split on whether or not the idea will take off.

The NAS Regional Map is in its final stages, with one vocal dissenter angry over the smaller size of his nation after the latest border reshuffle.

In an effort to tighten security, a bill has been brought to the General Assembly which would bar unregistered users of the forum from any access to the NAS forum. Currently, guests can view a limited portion of the forum without logging in.

In one of his more ambitious ideas, founder Greater Tirana is seeking to give nations their own board on the NAS forum. Proponents feel that the idea would provide a great tool to the region's rping, but opponents are afraid of a potential admin nightmare.

Regional Update for the NAS – April

Good bye, but hopefully not forever – Rational Nobility, the current Minister for Justice and Internal Affairs, will be stepping down as minister for an indefinite period of time. We wish him the best and pray for his speedy return.

Peace – In an effort to promote peace between Feudal Japan and the NAS, Rain_of_God, Director General for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has drafted a Non-Aggressive act. The status of the treaty is still pending.

New neighbors – The NAS has agreed to open a new embassy with the United Kingdom, Belussa will act as the current ambassador.

Money, money, money – Now that the NAS has a bank, what next? A slew of ideas have hit the chamber floor, what shall we call the monetary unit? What will we use it for? Who should monitor its use? Discussion is supposed to be wrapped up by the end of the month, and then voted upon.

Don’t forget your manners – After quite a bit of arguing in the Divisions Chamber, Greater Tirana the Impaler, was forced to draft a code of conduct, which was voted upon and made into law, by the general assembly.

Regional Update for The NAS- May

Tough times for the Non Aligned States- With our population more than 100 nations fewer than we were only a few months ago, our region has fallen into a state of disarray. Resignations from most of our remaining active members have lead to a complete collapse of the government. Currently myself, Qufafi, and Hikuroshi are running the region.

The NAS seeks merger- In an effort to quickly reinforce our numbers, the NAS has decided to seek a suitable region with which to merge. Thus far, Greater Nova York has expressed interest. The NAS is still interested in hearing any offers.

NAS moving towards RP?- As part of an alternative plan to a merger, the NAS is considering becoming a role playing region. A test forum has been built to develop the idea, in which members would explore the role as a nation more deeply than in previous NAS set ups. Vital services, like recruiting and foreign relations, would be proided by an admin team.
