From the Ashes, A New Torino rises!
New torino: Post Nubila Phoebus (After The Clouds Comes The Light)
Following the death of Torino's founder (New Canada City) and with the threat of an attack on Torino looking likely, Torino is moving to New Torino. It is hoped that this move will signal a new era for the region.
Number of nations in New Torino: 54 UN Delegate of New Torino: Woodlawns II (19 endorsements)
Key positions: President: Aramatherius Speaker of the General Assembly: Woodlawns Minister of the Interior: OneBZay Minister of External Affairs: Euphobes
Following the resignations of several key members, Torino was left with a weakened cabinet. Therefore, Aramatherius took drastic measures by streamlining the government and put large sections of it under the control of experienced members. Some members who left have now returned, and the future looks good for New Torino.
Foreign News: Relations have been maintained by Torino and her allies, despite the political unrest, with the General Assembly voting unanimously to approve a treaty between Torino and Birmingham. The Foreign Minstry is reforming and the Foreign Minister is seeking new ambassadors.
General Assembly News: The Senate has been replaced with the General Assembly; which has the same powers and serves the same purpose, but enables all the citizens to debate laws. This is intended to produce a fairer and more open system. Recently, a bill allowing UN Delegate elections was passed by 5 votes to 1. The 2nd amendment to the constitution was passed by 5 votes to 0, with 2 abstenations.
Culture News: This is one area that has been expanding recently. The first church of New Torino has been founded, and has a fully functioning clergy. It is loosely based on a Christian system, but the literature used is based on NationStates history. Funerals and marriages have already been held by the church, and it has received the support of much of the Torino community. The Olympics are being planned as well, and a regional flag has ben developed to go along with the motto; you can see them at the top of the update.
Recruitment News: Recruitment is back again, with it being made the top priority by the coalition government. So far there has been steady progress towards building New Torino into what Torino used to be.
Political News: There has been an unofficial halt on party politics after Aramatherius decided to form a coalition government. Approval for his administration after the creation of the coalition was hurt, which has caused unrest even in his own party. Nonetheless, it seems that his position is secure, because of the positive changes that New Torino is experiencing.
The New Conservative Party, Torino's oldest party, has collapsed and is probably finished due to the inactivity that it has been hit by. The Torino Progressive Party has suffered as well, as resignations have hit the party badly, causing it to lose a lot of members.

Torino United!
New torino: Post Nubila Phoebus (After The Clouds Comes The Light)
The evacuation from Old Torino is nearly complete, with only twelve nations still remaining in Old Torino. In Torino, the delegate there still has 8 endorsements.
Number of nations in New Torino: 78 UN Delegate of New Torino: Woodlawns II (25 endorsements)
Key positions: President: Kinonita Speaker of the General Assembly and Vice-President: My Superstardom Chief of Staff of the President: OneBZay Minister of Recruitment: Euphobes Secretary of Defence: Han fei zi Foreign Minister: Etising Culture Minister: Aramatherius
Following the elections, President Kinonita announced the new cabinet. However, new places are promised in the coming days, as Kinonita apologised for leaving some people out of the cabinet.
General Assembly News: Recent activity in the general assembly involved the defeat of a bill that would prevent a nation being tried again if new evidence was discovered. Two new bills have been submitted; one of them a repeal of the TIS Security Council Act, which gave an unaccountable body the power to designate anyone an enemy combatant and order their ejection without a trial. The other bill is the controversial "Regional Productivity Act", which will require nations to contribute something to society (being an ambassador, recruiter or a soldier) on pain of losing citizenship and being treated as a foreign diplomat.
Culture News: A new map, complete with a sophisticated resource system has been implemented by Aramatherius. Also, the university is having some life put into it, with the Regional history department on the rise again. A large scale role-play war has broken out between Kinonita and Aramatherius over an unprovoked attack on the Kavo federation.
Recruitment News: Recruitment is continuing, with steady progress being made. The introduction of mandatory recruitment will be unpopular, but both the President and Recruitment Minister decided that it was necessary. Torino also welcomes several members of the LKE to its ranks.
Political News: The main story was the Presidential election, which was called by Aramatherius as part of an out-of-court settlement for the dropping of charges in the case against him. The results of the election were as follows:
Woodlawns (PRM) 1 vote, but passed it to Kinonita Kinonita (Independent) 8 votes My Superstardom (TPP) withdrew from election Han fei zi (Independent) withdrew from election Victoakley (Independent) 1 vote, but passed it to Kinonita
Therefore, Kinonita won with a 100% majority, in a sensational swing.
Courts News: Three cases were heard by the court recently. Firstly, Woodlawns v Aramatherius was centred around a post made by the former President that contained lots of foul language. However, the defence contested that as the target of abuse was the president, Woodlawns could not have taken offence. The case was concluded with the President being found not guilty.
Secondly, Aramatherius v OneBZay was centred on several posts made by OneBZay that offended the President, who tried to indict OneBZay on treason charges for them. The charges were quickly reduced to four counts of malicious behaviour by the court. In defence, OneBZay produced the argument that the charges were freedom of speech. He was found guilty on one count, but a lenient sentence was imposed. However, the President then tried to overturn the verdict of the court, which bought the next case.
The third case was Euphobes v Aramatherius. Here, Aramatherius was charged with violation of the constitution and contempt of court. However, the case was dropped in a deal that took place out of court. It was as follows: in exchange for the dropping of charges and the removal of the vote of no confidence, Aramatherius would drop charges against OneBZay and call elections.
