Lt. Colonel Rokhano Qazz shook his head. "I have no matters to bring up to the Council. I have no objections with adjournment. But before that, I must thank all of you for attending this meeting of the North Medius Alliance... although only time can tell, I am sure that this is the start of a new era in XKI history... the formation of our Alliance between Kannex, Malecia, and Takaram certainly tips the balance of power and will affect many political happenings for years to come. Once again, I say tatsie--thank you--to all of you." Qazz then bowed to the delegates with his head in respect, as was the custom.

Standing, Parker stood at attention and saluted his fellow council members. "Gentlemen, it has been an honor working with you. Now then, I must be going. I have to get this," he said, gesturing to Takaram's copy of the treaty in his aide's hands, "back to Takaram for ratification and then I must prepare for a move of my own."

Secretary Knox bade each a fair journey and shook hands with both, as well as bowing to Colonel Qazz in return. Once outside the building, he motioned to an aide as they walked to the car. "Get on the phone and have our plane standing by at the airstrip. Then call Odvestarn and tell Captain Fisk to make sure the buildings reserved for ANMO are ready to go. Admiral Parker didn't say when he was arriving, but let's plan for his advanced team to be arriving withn the next three days."
"Yes sir," the young Marine enlisted woman replied. "Any other instructions, sir?"
"Yes. Make sure that the people from Landry have a heads up on the Takaram deal. We need to get everyone standardized A.S.A.P. That's it, for now."
"Yes sir," she said as she took out her cell as they entered the waiting car and began dialing numbers.

After boarding the jet that would return him to Takaram, Parker placed a secure call to the Prime Minister and gave him a full report. Almost as soon as Parker landed, the treaty copy was rushed down to the Parliamentary Palace, where the MPs began deliberating on it.

The Malecian Senate has ratified the ANMO Treaty by a vote of 22 to 2 with 2 votes of "present." The treaty has been sent to the President.
In days past, before the dawn of technology, agreements between groups of native born Malecians were sealed by signal fire. Often times, the smoke was used to indicate one group's agreement with the other.
It is one of the very few customs carried over to the modern day. In its current form, treaties with other nations cannot be announced until the dawn of the day after they are ratified by the Senate.
Local sunrise in Shiloh is at 6:07 A.M. tomorrow. The President is expected to sign the bill shortly thereafter. After the signing, a ceremonial white smoke will be sent up from the General Assembly Building indicating that the treaty is now Malecian Law followed by an announcement from President Ennis.

In Takaram, Neil Wilcox of Landry Arms has arrived at Takaram Defense H.Q. with the Malecian Trade Representative, Ray Cooke. "Neil, how long does it take to make one rifle on your current line?
"About 10 minutes. But everything arrives pre-forged. The barrels even have the lands and grooves in them. We recently upgraded the line so we can switch products without having to re-tool," he replied. "We call it a 'flexible manufacuring proces.'"
"Do you know anything about Takaram's manufacturing?" Ray asked.
"No more than the basics. It's my understanding that they use conventional manufacturing and assembly techniques. I'm guessing that they use automation to ensure quality control like everyone else."
"O.K. How long do you think it will take them to go from tooling their line to production?"
"No idea. Why?"
"Well," Ray began, "I was wondering if we might want to sell them a few thousand units to equip their troops who will be forward deployed until they get their line up and running. Do you think Doran would sign off on a discount for say enough to arm two of their battalions?"
Neil thought it over and said, "I don't see why not. The R-81 is a venerable weapon, but it's reached the commodity stage, which means the profit margins are small. We ha dthought about this ourselves and we think a better way to go may be to lend them what they need for now until they can manufacture what they need for their units."
"O.K.," Ray said. I'll try it out when we sit down with them.
After being broadcast in the radio program of the Imperial Kannexian News Agency, the North Medius Treaty was finally made public and rumors of its existence confirmed. Kannexians were divided on it, wondering whether the ANMO would really bring peace, or merely spark off more conflicts in the world.
Before the North Medius Treaty was submitted to the Imperial Senate of the Empire of Kannex, His Majesty the Heavenly Emperor announced that he fully backed the North Medius Treaty and that it is "the start of a great chapter in history".
When the North Medius Treaty was forwarded to the Senate for a vote, it was passed 31-1, with 8 abstaining. The Senate is filled with nobles appointed by provincial governments and the Emperor himself.
The Prime Minister received the North Medius Treaty and presented it to Emperor Dovira, who gave his Royal Assent (more correctly known as the "Imperial Assent"). The North Medius Treaty, thus, was ratified in the Empire of Kannex. Kannex is now a member of the Alliance of North Medius Organization.

Good Morning, this is Clair Dunning with your morning updates. Our top story, this morning Prime Minister David Marshall signed and presented to His Majesty the Northern Medius Treaty, which was ratified yesterday afternoon by a 298-1 vote, 1 absent, in the Lower House and a 99-1 vote in the Upper House. His Majesty gave his Royal Assent on the treaty, passing it into law and joining Imperial Kannex and the Republic of Malecia in the Alliance of North Medius Organization, a military alliance which may become, some analysts say, one of the largest and most powerful organizations in 10000 Islands, rivaling the LUSS in it's influence. However, warn some, the organization has yet to be proven, and may not live up to it's expectations. The Prime Minister's office has announced that he will host a press conference later this afternoon on the organization where he will take questions from the press.

Announcer: Your tuned to the Right Wing radio network, and you're listening to the Bah Humbaugh show. In the studio with Bah today is Dr. Laurie Bingraham.
BH: So, the President has signed the ANMO treaty, basically making us subservient to his royalness in Takaram and the evil empire in Kannex. Laurie, when does Malecia say enough is enough and start looking out for Malecia?
LB: Who knows, Bah? They got this stupid deal in Aprica, trying to domesticate the natives while they pay too much for their oil and uranium. If the government got out of the way, Gormley could have walked out of Aprica for free, But noooo. Thanks to the so-called freedom party, we have to take a great opportunity and squander it.
BH: Let's take a call. It's talk radio, you're on the air.
Caller: Ditto, Laurie. I think that Brother Ennis and his cronies in Shiloh never saw an opportunity to interfere with free enterprise that they didn't like. Now we have to have hearings to see if Gormley acted improperly in Aprica. And to make matters worse, we have to give over one of our bases to ANMO so some pompous commander from Takaram can come here and do what? Take over our Navy? I say it's time to get rid of these people in Shiloh. Next thing you know, they'll be signing a treaty making us a Kannexian colony!
(OoC: Gotta have at least one person who disagrees.)
