Constitutional Procedure: Iontan is a constitutional republic. It has representatives from each island meet in the National Hall, to discuss and vote on various matters and laws concerning the nation. Each island is allowed to elect their representatives in their own matter, some elect one from each district, while others have people vote for all of their representatives at the same time, for example. For the total of 9 islands that make up Iontan, 100 representatives are divided among them based on population, as determined by a 7 year census, and elections take place every three years, with three islands replacing a nearly equal number of representatives at each time. The Executive branch is run by an Executive Leader, who is elected by direct election every 5 years, and is given the power to veto any bill that has less then a 65% majority among the representatives, collectively known as the Senate. The Executive Branch is also a bureaucracy, with major concerns of the government are each given Ministries (ex. Ministry of Education), sometimes referred to as Departments. A judicial branch also exists for Iontan, but procedure varies between islands, though they must all follow constitutional guidelines (this includes the right to a fair trial, a jury, the right to refuse to testify against oneself, and the right to be innocent until proven guilty), and a National Court is set up for inter-island issues and cases.
Various rights guaranteed by the constitution are the right to free speech, peaceful assembly, and freedom from search and seizure without probable cause, plus protection from preventable illnesses and social injustices. The government is also explicitly atheist.

Many buildings in the larger cities of Iontan regularly reach between 600-700 meters tall, and become communities unto themselves. The reason for this is that suburban development is limited, and high-speed railways are the most common ways to go from one city to another on the same island.
Major Landmarks & Tourist Attractions: National Hall (Houses the legislative and executive workings of Iontan) in the capital, as are many other political and historical monuments. Mt. Sima and the mountain range is a popular resort to the north, as are the rainforests and beaches to the south. Notable Weapons and Technology:
Many technologies used by Iontan’s military focus on non-lethality and aim to render any attackers unarmed or temporarily inoperative. Some examples of this would be the widespread use of the sound cannons by the Navy, and EMP blasters used by the Air Force. Traditional military weapons are also used, but generally as a Plan B then as a first choice. However, Iontan is also home to Vavilon Tower, a large military installation on one of the unincorporated isles. Vavilon Tower is home to the Archimedes Rifle, a large laser that has a range of 600 miles, and can defend against nuclear attacks, as well as attacking militaries. However, the brutality and collateral damage associated with using the rifle means that using it requires very specific procedures and prerequisites. It is also rarely used because, due to the size, energy cost and production requires large scale energy redirection and production.
Awards: Some examples of various awards given to troops are
Medal of Victory- Given to all soldiers and support who undertake a campaign.
Silver Atom- a special medal only given to exceptional Recon and Stealth Units, necessary for entry into the Hoshikage.
Barrikade - Given to those who show exceptional bravery and skill when holding the line in a defensive position.
Tachyon Medal of Honor- Special medals of honor given to member of first strike units.
