WW Game 5, Day by Day
Day One - An early scare for the werewolves as Byzesion took an early lead in voting before Gunny somehow managed to draw a ton of suspicion to himself and then public opinion overwhelmingly turned against Boltor. Result: Boltor (Villager) lynched with 9/17 votes.
Night One - Wordy scanned Black Chocolate Stout, Markanite defended himself, iPad defended Gunny, and the werewolves ate Echo. Result: Echo (Villager) killed by werewolves.
Day Two - Eist's analysis results in an early pile-on of Anartonia. Result: Anartonia (Villager) lynched with 9/13 votes.
Night Two - Wordy scanned Eist, Markantite defended Cerb, iPad starts a period of inactivity with not defending anyone, and the werewolves inexplicably fail to eat anyone. A good night for the village with essentially a free scan by the seer. Result: Nobody Dies
Day Three - Gunny goes after BCS early. This backfires and results in suspicion of himself, La Vida, and Tanz when the three of them quickly vote for BCS. Tanzoria draws the short stick when everyone piles on a bandwagon to lynch him. Result: Tanzoria (Villager) Lynched with 9/14 votes.
Night Three - The werewolves don't make the same mistake as last time, and decide to eat Wordy. Wordy was going to scan Gunny had she not died. Markanite defended MinnaCaroline, while iPad continues his period of inactivity and doesn't defend anyone. This is where the tide really turns against the village, in my opinion, with the loss of the Seer marking one-third of the village dead. Result: Wordy (Seer) killed by werewolves.
Day Four - iPad is warned for inactivity. BCS is the early suspect, and reveals that Wordy had contacted him and shared that he and Eist were villagers. Eist goes for Tak, but backs off when Tak asks why. Mark goes for Wala, which Cerb finds suspicious. Mark then reveals he's a defender, which no one believes except for perhaps the werewolves. Gunny whips up a small mob that narrowly votes to kill Mark. Result: Markanite (Defender) lynched with 4/10 votes. Personal note: I was a little uncomfortable letting someone be lynched by minority vote (only 4 out of 15 living players voted for Mark) but rules are rules and time was up.
Night Four - iPad defends Eist, who posts another analysis that (in my eyes) at least somewhat points at Wala, Tak, and Byz as werewolves. No one else seems to see this, however; so maybe it was just because I knew who the werewolves were that I saw it. Result: Cerb (Villager) killed by werewolves.
Day Five - Early votes for Randomain, Byz, and Wala. BCS posts a screenshot to prove himself. When things start to go against Byz, the wolves seem to make the strategic decision to vote against him. (Which, I think, sealed the game for them.) Result: Byz (Werewolf) lynched with 8/10 votes.
Night Five - Gunny posts a great list that successfully narrows down the suspects to six. (Four of which are werewolves.) He is promptly eaten. Additionally, Wala nearly reveals himself by posting “dann” followed by “Oops I hit enter lol, damn right there’s no perfect game for the wws GO villagers!” on the forum-wide chat box in response to Anartonia posting “Well, no perfect game for the werewolves...” No one seems to notice. Result: Gunny (Villager) killed by werewolves.
Day Six – La Vida proposes the village go after Minna, but nobody (including La Vida herself) takes it seriously. A bandwagon starts on Wala, but the vote takes a swift turn towards iPad largely due to his inactivity. Result: iPad (Defender) lynched with 5/9 votes.
Night Six – Eist suggests correctly that he is next to die, incorrectly that La Vida is the most likely to be a wolf. Result: Eist (Villager) killed by werewolves.
Day Seven – BCS and Blbbo quickly start a lynch mob against La Vida, the werewolves happily oblige, and the game ends. Result: La Vida (Villager) lynched with 5/6 votes
Analysis - The werewolves won through a combination of expertly playing the villagers against one another and a tendency by the villagers to jump on (nearly always incorrect) bandwagons. There were several times where the tide could have turned against the werewolves, but villagers with (correct) suspicions didn’t press the issue when werewolves would confront them and/or point out different suspects.
Most Valuable Player – Not being privy to internal werewolf communications, it is difficult for me to assign an MVP. Based on my own observations, I jointly award Walabamba and Paffnia the MVP award, for opposite reasons. Walabamba was suspected a number of times and hiding in plain sight. But despite the odds he always managed to wiggle out of trouble. Paffnia, on the other hand, was rarely mentioned as a suspect, and expertly kept under the radar. Congratulations to both Wala and Paffnia on their MVP Awards, and congratulations to all the wolves on an expertly played game!
