Greetings all, I'm the new TSP Ambassador, happy to be here.
A recent comment by delegate Topid on the unpleasantness on our RMB:

This is not an official update, Foreign Minister HEM doesn't know about it yet, but because I am the delegate along with an ambassador I'm taking the liberty to post a statement in the regions which I am the ambassador to. [Reposted by Antariel]

Currently, on our RMB, there are many puppets run by an unknown player or players. They're showing screen-shots that they claim they obtained from a hidden part of our forum between me and the members of our region that show that SB handed the delegate position to me behind the scenes, and the election was a sham.

Here are some of the ways we've found to show them as fakes:

Another one he used in his campaign: img220.imageshack.us/img220/347/evidence1j.png I have a long history with Sedge, I wouldn't refer to him as Sedgistan. This is repeated through other images... Shows I didn't really write this post.

Anyway, these allegations are totally false. There was no pre-arrangement for me to get the delegate position. On my honour I swear that the succession competition that took place on-sight and according to TSP's laws was totally honest, and that neither I nor anyone in the region knew how it would end.

As soon as I got the hint that there were telegrams going out Minister of Security Bels and I put together a TG and I contacted every WA in the region (at 5am where I live tongue.gif ) with some of the above evidence that the finger pointers were full of crap. And maybe that campaign is the reason the other side's campaign has rallied one TSPer behind me for every person they've gotten to withdraw their endorsement. And as such I'm only down about 2 endorsements since the last update.

I hope this clears up any concerns the members of 10KI may have about the current events in TSP, and if you have any more questions send me a telegram or comment here (I'll find it quicker the other way, though).

Hello, Hola, Salutations!

This is once again an update on the downlow in the South Pacific from the recently nominated, sexiest Foreign Minister in Nationstates! (Granted, the pool of candidates was a bit shallow)...

But I digress! We have recently held a myriad of elections in the South Pacific, and it is important to me to explain to YOU how everything went down. At least, after someone explains it to me...

The Delegate challenge launched by Topid was successful, with him surpassing Southern Bellz's endorsements last week. It was a strong race and the new delegate was greeted optimistically by the region. Though, as will quickly become apparent, it has not been easy few weeks for our new fearless leader.

On the Cabinet front, only one incumbent remained in office. Guess who?

Muhahahahaha...Erm...yeah.

...Moving past that.

Todd McCloud declined to seek a second term was was succeeded by Hammer. The newly re-created Ministry of Security post was filled by Belschaft, and King_J was defeated in his bid for another term as Minister of Justice by Daytime to Night.

A strong team, a very strong team. (I'm suppose to say something patriotic every article)



Too Dumb for Fiction[/u][/color][/font]

Even the cat realizes...it's just too much

...And it has been for a while. All regions have probably seen their share of malcontents. Young children, weird adults, crazy users who just don't understand when to stfu. Being spared of these for some time, the South Pacific has been rewarded with "Frak the Third" and his band of...well, let's face it, probably just more of himself.

He and his puppets have been trolling around the region, trying to push fake screenshots on the nations of the region. If the content of the screenshots weren't hilarious enough (Topid and Southern Bellz plotting how to subdue the region) the means at which it was presented will induce tears of hilarity.

The font within such screenshots, not even being the font on the forum, and posts that are dated in contradiction to...well...the flow of time. However, Frak has been adament, claiming that with these ironclad arguements we of the The South Pacific government are merely "hiding the truth", and that the "truth can be found as he presented it," and whatever nonsense.

The drama however as stupid as it sounds, has begun to effect the affairs of state. The telegrams sent out have lost Topid significant numbers of endorsements, and with a new round of telegrams from Frak's gang urging the endorsing of Californiaaaaa, the nation sadly, had to be ejected at noon today.

Drama and tension are heating up, all whilst I am just bidding my time wishing I could power my car on stupid.

Legislative Reforms Come Slowly[/u][/color][/font]

Yeah yeah, we are still in the same damn room...

The Regional Assembly: an institution known for being quick, and nimble, and moving like the night!

Eh, or not.

Discussions for how to hold Delegate elections have stalled in lieu of the recent crisis of clowns. However a strong debate reemerged over the merits of Delegate elections at all. A point that many saw as a consensus area was brought back into the gray area as longtime resident, Tsrill pledged his support to the same system that has worked since..well...probably since the above picture was painted.

Most of the region still seems to favor the elections, however. Particularly in light of a desire to continuously prove to the region at-large that their gaurdians of trust do...ya know...do things democratically.

Trust me, we do -- unfortunately. I wanted to be king darnit.

Anyway, Hammer (our new Assembly Chair) has proposed bringing the current bill to a vote, however concerns about the Law of Succession and other items have delayed this anticlimactic moment from occurring.

Greetings, nations, Deputy Minister Antariel here. In HEM’s absence this week, I have taken it upon myself to write our regional update, for which I’m sure HEM will be eternally grateful, rather than demote me. Please do not adjust your monitor. Oh, and happy Fourth of July to those who celebrate it!

The latest coup – oh wait, no

In a rare departure for the glorious South Pacific in recent times, we managed to avoid having anyone actively attempt to overthrow our beloved region this week, causing joy and rejoicing. That said, everyone’s least favourite screenshot-faking, rant-posting, puppet-making, TSP-baiting [insert other ‘noun-verbing’ phrase here], Frak returned, this time to the summit being held in the South, and basically admitted his mighty ‘group’ is about three people (and to be honest we’re dubious about the existence of two of them). Outstanding. In related news, HEM’s stupid-powered car can now do 0-60 in two seconds dead.

The Sheep that wouldn’t die!

Visitors to TSP in the past week may have noticed a sudden preponderance of sheep and sheep based puns in the RMB. For those of you scared and confused by this bizarre phenomenon, take it up with Sheepatropolis, whose search for a new motto generated countless hours of what some observers have deemed to be ‘fun’. Jackets also featured heavily, in an example of what good-natured japes a feeder region gets up to when some people aren’t earnestly plotting its overthrow.

The Great Law Reform

Our much discussed, lengthy legislative reforms continue, with all the gravitas of Magna Carta, but without any barons going to war with a king. Voting for a Vice-Delegate has also begun, and the end of the reforms, which notably modify endo levels, seem in sight. In the words of my superior from last update, ‘Next update, fo sho’.

TSP needs you! (Generic but you know where I’m coming from, right?)

In light of recent drama, our beloved Belschaft has begun the recruitment of a new TSP army ‘to not only defend our own region but provide assistance to our friends and allies elsewhere, and project our regions influence and interests across Nationstates’. Nations are flocking to march around in uniforms and funny hats; a truly terrifying sight.

Emergency Update of the South Pacific

A lot has happened in the last few hours, so another emergency update directly from outgoing delegate Daynor this time. Apologies for so much information, there is a lot happening.

First, TWP declared an end to the ceasefire. As such, Punk Daddy has been banned from The South Pacific… Again. We’re done listening to him on our RMB, where we could be having fun. Here is my RMB post on the matter;

This telegram has been sent to you as ordered by my superior, to whom in this manner I am a proxy. You are receiving this telegram with the expectation that you will act as a messenger to the delegate of The South Pacific and the Ministry of Security of The South Pacific.

Greetings Daynor, confidantes of the delegate, and ministers of security. Surely you did not think we had vanished, for we have been watching The South Pacific very closely.

Specifically, our eyes have been on the delegate elections. Now, we care little for the substance of the debate threads, as they are either filled with stupidity or convention, neither of which we enjoy. No, our eyes have been on the execution of the election process. On the trampling of laws that not long ago you fought vehemently to defend.

We wonder how you could make it so easy, and expect us to sit still. So here it is. We both know that laws have been broken. The two most likely candidates, Belschaft and Carta, will have soon both broken the cap law. Delightedly, this has already been pointed out on your forums.You then ignorantly allowed two non-citizens to run for election, against the law. One of which, Anur-Sanur, has a history of villainy in every feeder he touches, including your own. He spat in your face with his ridiculous campaign as eagerly as you spit in your own face with your disregard for your own laws. And unlike last time, we can link to your laws and to your very WFE. We can link to Anur’s many crimes and the various forum posts where the breach of cap is mentioned. We can link to election threads run by non-citizens. We can show the entire region how poorly you have run these elections. We can string you up as traitors in your own land.

Now unfortunately for us, the time has past were we could prosecute a full scale propaganda campaign and hope to take and keep the delegacy at the same time. The summer may be a time for such things, but in the fall we have other things to attend to. Still, we can disrupt. You have foolishly handed us enough ammunition to run unendorsement campaigns against most of the candidates. We will not tolerate a Belschaft, Carta, Anur-Sanur, Anitoch, or Hileville victory. All have broken the law, either the cap law or the non-citizen law. Carta will be over cap soon and we believe Hileville’s tarting number shows an intent to break cap.

So here is our offer. Looking past these tainted candidates, we see two options. LadyRebels and KingJ. Both are dedicated to your forum and your government. We are not yet threatening you with coup. So, act on your own laws, disqualify all others, and have the runoff between those two. In the big picture, this is a fair offer. These nations will not betray you. Otherwise, we will run our campaign immediately. We both know that you have done a terrible job with these elections. People are breaking the cap, a known villain is dominating the threads, and your leadership sits on its hands. We have also observed the tarting of your candidates, and have seen that although they have tarted in massive amounts, their reception is slow. We are confident that with the ammunition you have provided, all illegal (by your own laws) candidates can and will be broken.

The wonderful thing about this is that we are playing in your ballpark, unlike last time. These are your laws, not ours. So once again so we are clear, you will disqualify the illegal candidates and run LadyRebels and King J. Failure to do so will have the illegal candidates suffer from information campaigns. Editing your forums or amending your laws is useless, the webpages have been downloaded.

You have 48 hours to disqualify all illegal candidates. Be aware that the longer you wait to do so, the more convinced we will become that you intend to let them run. You may not disqualify half or one or two. All of them must go. If you are foolish enough to think that you will defeat us, when we are enforcing –your- laws, that is your choice. Even if you do survive, any new government that is lead by one of those dirty candidates will be crippled by your hypocrisy. Don’t be foolish, run LadyRebels and KingJ.

Did you guess the author? That’s right! Frak is back, grab your popcorn, I’m sure this will be a good one for his blooper reel.

Now, you can read into that arrogant tone whatever you want, personally given his across the board failure in the last attempt, and my continuance as delegate, he doesn’t have too much to feel that tough about. But, I digress. To the actual issues he raises!

As usual, our loveable failure has disregarded truth and the actual laws of the region in order to advance his goal, however pointless that is.

Claim: Bels and soon to be Carta are in violation of the cap, and should be ejected.
Truth: The law gives me the authority to ban Carta and Bel now. I am not required to ban anyone that breaks the cap, I merely have the authority to do so. Despite Frak’s last imaging campaign, I’ve been far from a tyrant, and much more liberal than I have to be, and have consistently given nations slack. If you go over the cap, I will warn you of such and as long as you don’t continue seeking endorsements I allow you to stay. I’ve given this exemption to many nations before, including [nation]ravenclaw_crimson[/nation] [nation]lt_hot_stuff[/nation]. I will not alter my policy now. It appears my predecessor will be taking a more hard-line stance as I’ve taken heat from just about every candidate for being so liberal.

Claim: It is illegal for non-citizens to run for delegate and we allowed it anyway.
Truth: It should be illegal for non-citizens to run, I’ll agree to that extent. But actually the law very specifically says “any WA nation in the region” may run for delegate. That is an error I accept responsibility for. When I wrote the original draft for the new election system I phrased it as such to contrast the old requirement that WA nations have been in the region for 30 days. I did not consider the fact that text would allow non-citizens to run. In compliance to that law, non-citizens were allowed to run for office.

Claim: Anur-Sanur should not have been allowed to run for delegate because of his criminal past and platform supporting a move to monarchy.
Truth: I’m not going to defend Anur-Sanur. The absurdity of his campaign I do not dispute, he is a criminal and moving to monarchy is unquestionably a bad move in my book. However, we do not disqualify candidates because we dislike their views or that they are disliked for illegal actions in other regions. I haven’t always played by the laws of every region I was a member of either, but TSP served as a new start for me and many other members.

Claim: We should allow King J and LadyRebels to be the final two candidates.
Truth: That’s fine by me if it is what the primary voters want. I won’t be forcing the others out of the race just because our loveable failure wishes me to, no matter how loveable he is.

All in all, these demands and accusations are only slightly more valid than the last ones, only because he hasn’t found the time to make screenshots of conversations that never happened, yet. They will be given the same attention we would give the rantings of any delusional or self-serving nutcase.

Needless to say, we will be treating these 'demands' with what we feel is an appropriate degree of mockery and disdain. We have already exercised the precaution of notifying all the WA's in the region to be prepared for TG's from multiple puppets calling for some kind of un-endorsment campaign, have notified several of our allies, and will be posting this in all our embassies.

So, bring it on 'Frak'. Last time you tried to coup us we sent you and your merry band of puppets away with your tails between your legs. We'll do it again if you force us to. You can't intimidate us. You can't corrupt our democratic process. We will run our elections, and there is nothing you can do to stop us.

Hello NS, Antariel is back once more. HEM was a little busy as he was considering runnng for the delegacy (see below) meaning once more I get to construct a special release. Be afraid.

Election perfection

To the surprise of one and all, Delegate Topid decided that he wished to resign from the delegacy, perhaps disappointed that nobody had tried to coup us in the past two weeks or so. Hence, a new round of elections grace our fair region. Cue extravagant election campaigns by some, 3 line TG's saying 'vote for me' from others (naming no names to preserve impartiality), and an escalating debate about a proposal to establish a monarchy in TSP! Come visit us on the forum and see how things are going, then watch in awe as we have elections that hopefully avoid any lunatics trying to steal our beloved region in the future!

Under New Management[/u][/color]

The South Pacific completed its most recent election last month and there were a few new additions to the Cabinet. Hileville was elected Delegate after a very productive term as Chair of the Assembly. Unibot retained his post as Minister of Justice, Sheepatropolis was elected Minister of Security and Eluvatar was elected to the Chair of Assembly.

With Carta retiring form The South Pacific in the middle of the election it was left to incoming Delegate Hileville to make an appointment. Haxstree was the lucky member of TSP who got the job. Southern Bellz and Haxstree had just finished a close battle for Minister of Foreign Affairs. Southern Bellz recently resigned from her post as that dreaded Real Life Bug caught up with her. Sheepatropolis has appointed King J as his deputy. They both work very hard around the clock to get our Army up and running again.


The Cat-Tribe Memorial Award Ceremony[/u][/color]

The time has finally come for The South Pacific to honor its first two recipients of The Cat-Tribe Memorial Award. The Ceremony will take place starting January 27, 2012. Make sure you stop by our forums and give your congratulations to The Cat-Tribe and Southern Bellz who TSP believe have demonstrated a defense of Democracy and Political Freedoms. The Monday after the ceremony will begin a week long debate that will cover several topics that will be announced at a later time.


Diplomacy Square[/u][/color]

The South Pacific has joined The Modern Pacific Alliance which aims to improve relations with all of the feeder/sinker regions and provides a way to discuss those important issues that effect all of the respected member regions.

TSP also has signed a Treaty with Lone Wolves United and The United Defenders League. This was done in order for TSP to build closer relations with raider and defender groups. We also ended are feud with The Rejected Realms and The West Pacific in the time between our last update and now.

Several attempts at generating RMB and IRC activity in the region are underway. The first being thought of by Sheepatropolis is our IRC Quiz Night, the first ever quiz was a success and Rachel Anumia was the winner. The next edition of TSP IRC Quiz Night will be 1/21/12 @ 5:30pm EST (10:30pm GMT). Hileville has introduced a discussion topic to our RMB and changes it whenever he feels like it. The person who has contributed the most in discussions on the RMB earns a spot in our WFE.

The South Pacific Army is back and better than ever. Here is an update.

Two Nations - Three Warzones[/u][/size][/u]

Led by Minister of Security Sheepa, the revived South Pacific Army hopes to create a new avenue in Gameplay, outside of the raider/defender norms, to create a style unique to the South Pacific. With a focus on the Warzones as a place for competition and training, the first acquisitions of the new South Pacific army were conducted by a two man team. Minister of Security Sheepa and Haxstree swapped WAs as they captured Warzone Australia, Europe, and Sandbox in a swift strike. We also can't forget the contribution of Minister of Justice Unibot, who dropped in to help take care of a Warzone with one endorsement too many.

A Phantom Confrontation[/u][/size][/u]

With the initial strike, the South Pacific Army fell on ally Europeia to help hold Warzone Australia and Sandbox. As part of the operational procedure, all Warzone embassies were cancelled, leading to a declaration of war between the South Pacific and the miffed "the Phantom Knights", a small raiding group with historical ties to Warzone Australia. The bellicose demands and warnings of the Phantoms soon turned against them, as Warzone Australia delegate and TSP corporal Antariel remained steadfast against threatening telegrams. The South Pacific Army demonstrated even in its infancy, its capacity for reinforcements remains outstanding. A call to defend Warzone Australia was sent across the South Pacific, with numerous WAs heeding the call. In sum, over 20 South Pacific WAs have moved to defend Warzone Australia, and nearly 20 still remain. In the face of this insurmountable force, the Phantom Knights laid down their arms against the South Pacific, and were recently seen taking Warzone Europe to put up the South Pacifican flag.


The Great Council[/u][/size][/u]

Delegate Hileville called the Great Council to order, a venue to address problems in the Charter and Law of The South Pacific. Current debates include election reform, how to control the South Pacific Army in law, and needed judicial reform. Also up for discussion are the role of Vice Delegates and whether or not to rename the Ministry of Justice the Ministry of Irrefutable Justice.


Election of Belschaft[/u][/size][/u]

Former Delegate Belschaft was elected Minister of Foreign Affairs in a special election following the vacancy left by Antariel following his ill conceived coup attempt of the Pacific.  Belschaft ended up winning in a lopsided 11 to 5 victory, but the race was not without excitement. The TSP drama llama, which had looked to become endangered made a strong comeback as both Haxstree and Belschaft got cited by the Ministry of Justice for uncouth debate behavior. The victory also came a few days late for Belschaft, as an untimely forum glitch mandated a new vote.


Diplomacy Sqaure [/u][/size][/u]

The South Pacific is negotiating treaties with Balder, Lazarus and Osiris, which would establish alliances with said regions and create mutual defense against coupers and other deviants.

Frak's Identity Revealed

The identity of Frak who has caused some trouble for TSP in the past has been revealed.  Frak is Haxstree who was at the time of the reveal TSP's Minister of Regional Affairs as well as a Corporal in The South Pacific Army.  This discovery ended a huge intelligence effort that had existed for months in The South Pacific.  AMOM was able to obtain Frak's IP address through an MSN Chat and then revealed this to the region.  If you want more information on the reveal of Frak please visit Our old forum.  We will be providing updates as the trial gets underway.


Elections Finished - Appointments Made

March marked another set of elections for The South Pacific and some of the cabinet stayed in tact.  Delegate Hileville announced appointments for the offices of Minister of Regional Affairs and Chair of the Assembly as no eligible candidate ran for the positions.  Those appointed were Carta - who had previously served as a Vice Delegate and Minister of Regional Affairs in TSP and Eluvatar - who will return as the Chair of the Assembly.  We also had elections for Minister of Justice and Minister of Foreign Affairs in which both Unibot and Belschaft retained their respected positions.  Sheepatropolis was also elected to a second term as Minister of Security.  Delegate Hileville was confirmed as the regions Delegate and will finish out his term which will expire in June.  How could I forget that Carta was confirmed as the craziest member of TSP for the third straight time.


Belschaft Resigns - MoFA Vacant

Due to personal reasons Belschaft has resigned as Minister of Foreign Affairs. A special election has been called and is underway. Some potential candidates include Rebel-topia, Todd McCloud, Earth and Charles I. Cerebella. In the next update we shall have elected a new Minister of Foreign Affairs and will update you at that time.

SPINN Reboot...Successful

On November 30, 2012 then Delegate Hileville appointed former Delegate Southern Bellz to the position of Editor-in-Chief of the South Pacific Independent News Network. Hileville believed Southern Bellz would be the nation to lead SPINN into the future and complete a successful reboot of the news organization. Southern Bellz didn't waste any time as she got to work assembling her staff.

Hileville, was appointed News Editor and leads the Breaking News Division. Belschaft and Hernolord were hired on as Staff Writers to work on the Monthly Feature section of SPINN. Alv and Drugged Monkeys were hired on as News Reporters. SPINN began with coverage of TSP's elections in December and an interview article conducted by Drugged Monkeys with True North. TSP Elects New Cabinet

Lady Rebels, the EC Chair, has been dealing with RL issues, and hasn't graced TSP for a while. With this, elections started a bit late, as LR usually jumps at starting the election process. AMOM ran ran the elections quite smoothly while down to two Election Commissioners. But despite starting a little late, and being short an EC, the election process was as good as ever. By the start of campaigning, it was Antariel versus Bel for the third straight election; but this time, for Minister of Security. The seat for Minister of Regional Affairs was well sought after with Drugged Monkeys, HEM, and Loh all campaigning. Hileville and Unibot both ran unopposed for Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Assembly, respectively, while no one accepted their nomination for Minister of Justice, leaving it vacant. The title of TSP's Craziest was also up for grabs, with God-Emperor, Milograd, and Rebel-topia all looking to hold this honored title.

Much debate took place between Bel and Ant, as everyone well expected. Bel, looking to return to the post for the first time since its creation, outlined his plan to overhaul the SPA; to both build her numbers and to rework the way in which the SPA opperates. Antariel proposed running the SPA mostly as is; making his main point to be activity. The race for MoRA, saw all three candidates running with fairly identical platforms; a welcoming program, and internal activity. Despite their different ways of achieving this, all three agreed, if not elected, to help achieve their goals. Hileville talked about his plan for strengthening TSPs relationships, especially with other GCRs. The Drama Llama reared its ugly head in the unopposed campaign for Unibot for Chair. Not much about current affairs within TSP were discussed. Unibots campaign thread saw mostly questions about his involvement as leader of the UDL and his resignation as MoJ and quick departure from TSP. Before the end of the campaigning, Unibot resigned candidacy for the position, leaving it vacant for the elections.

New Delegate Elected

After nominations were closed and campaigning began, only two nations showed interest in the Delegacy. Milograd, a constant to have his name in the running for delegate, went up against The Third Imperium (God-Emperor), a nation with deep TSP roots, only recently coming back to the government side of TSP. It was a hotly contested campaign, as both looked to win endos from both those on the forums and those in the region. Near the end of elections, drama graced this election, as "The Zeroth Imperium", was banned from the region for campaigning for GE. They claimed the nation had been given to them by GE for the purpose of helping him secure endorsements, but said they were "stabbed in the back" by him, as Hileville had asked GE if these claims were true, and he said they were not. Special Elections Held by Delegate, Milograd

After Milograd won the election for Delegate he immediately opened special elections to determine who would hold the two vacant positions being Chair of the Assembly and Minister of Justice. Antariel and God-Emperor ran for Chair and Durgged Monkeys ran for Minister of Justice, a position he held previously. Antariel beat GE and will return to the TSP Cabinet for the first time in a little of a year when he was banned due admitting he was Black Pineapple. Antariel has been an excellent citizen and has done great work with the South Pacific Army since and had his suspension from Cabinet vacated due to legal issues earlier in the year. Drugged Monkeys was confirmed to the position of Minister of Justice. DM came to TSP after successful Warzone operations and joined the SPA. He later was elected to Cabinet and served one term as Minister of Justice. We look forward to the work both will do for the region in their respected Offices.


TSP - Osiris - TNP Joint Christmas Event

TSP recently participated in a joint Christmas Event with TNP and Osiris hosted on the TNP forums. The event was successful and was another step in bringing the three regions closer together. The event is the first of many to be hosted with the three regions and we look forward to the next one.


TSP Aids Osiris Delegate Mad Jack

The South Pacific Army assisted in restoring Mad Jack to the Delegate seat after being the victim of a Coup. The Cabinet issued the following statement on the situation in Osiris:

in regards to the Coup of Osiris

Having observed the shocking actions of senior members of the Government of Osiris, and their blatant disregard both for the laws of the region and their fellow citizens, The Coaliton of The South Pacific utterly and unequivocally condemns those responsible. The security and integrity of any region must be held sacrosanct, and the fact that those responsible had sworn to uphold both makes their betrayal even more complete.

The Coalition of The South Pacific considers Osiris to be a firm friend and a close ally. We stand behind the legitimate government of the region utterly, and have offered the full support both our own region and of the South Pacific Army to the region’s legitimate delegate, Madjack. We look forward to the imminent restoration of the legitimate government and delegate of the region, and will do everything in our power to assist with such.

We remember, both individually and as a region, when we ourselves were couped a year and a half ago. We were overwhelmed by the unambiguous support we received from the wider international community, and would be remiss if we offered anything less to Osiris. This event must be even more traumatic for the community of Osiris, having been committed by trusted members of the community rather than hostile outside forces. The South Pacific will stand by our friends and allies, wherever they may be, now and for ever.

Ultimately, the Coalition of the South Pacific firmly condemns the deplorable and destructive actions of the traitors in the Osirian government and will support the government and citizens of Osiris in these troubling times to the best of its ability.

Statement from the Cabinet of The Coalition of The South Pacific
in regards to the end of the Milograd Coup and victory on the home front

As of minor update today The South Pacific is once again free from foreign occupation and oppression, and NationState's oldest and most resilient democratic government has been restored. This victory could not have been achieved without the efforts of dozens, if not hundreds, of people all of whom have played their own parts, big or small. Whilst you will all be hearing more from us over the next few days, we would like to take a moment to thank some of you in particular.

Firstly, our allies; The North Pacific, Osiris, Europeia, The New Inquisition, Balder, Lazarus - your assistance will not be forgotten soon. Without your aid and diplomatic support we would still be under foreign occupation. The South Pacific has always been loyal to those who show us friendship, and you can count on our support should you ever find yourselves in need.

Secondly, those friends of ours abroad who, though not bound by treaty, still came to our aid; The East Pacific, The Rejected Realms, The United Defenders League, Ten Thousand Islands, Land of Kings and Empires, Equilism, The Commonwealth of Crowns, Spiritus, The Founderless Regions Alliance, Ainur, Kennan, Kantrias, Canada... the list goes on and on. Thank you, you have all proved to be good and true to your word. Know that we are in your debt.

Thirdly, the dozens of individual players who offered their support and assistance. You were the margin of the victory. Without your selfless contribution we would still be under occupation, still suffering daily purges of the native community. There is no complete list of everyone who came to our aid - many did so on their own initiative - but you all have our thanks.

Fourthly, there are a few names in particular we have to mention; Biyah, Astarial, Eluvatar, Mahaj, McMasterdonia - the Southern Allied Command would not have achieved half as much in twice as long without you all. Fudgie, who volunteered to play the traitor. Your sacrifice was the greatest, to be defamed by those who should have been saluting you. A debt of honor is owed to all of you.

Finally, the The South Pacific's native community. Even as hundreds of us were being ejected from our home by one who betrayed our trust, and foreign colonists were poring in by the hundred, you never gave in. You kept fighting. You kept everyone's spirits alive. We salute you.

in regards to Relations with The Pacific

It is with great sadness that we are faced with the evaluation of relationships with regions we called friends while attempting to recover from the heinous actions of Milograd. The Pacific has long been considered a close friend and ally of The South Pacific, most recently being formally allied under the Modern Pacific Alliance. However, our relationship goes back much further, with almost a decade of close friendship between us. The Coalition and her Army took up arms to aid The Pacific when asked in January of this year. For us, it was not imaginable that should The Pacific be threatened that we would not come to their aid when asked. In reverse, we could not imagine them failing to heed our own call should it be issued; such was the historic ties of friendship between our regions.

However, when Milograd began his coup and campaign of terror, The Pacific chose to instead push off the actions of Milograd as a mere internal matter that the natives - who were being ejected and banned from their home - would need to figure out. As an entire GCR community was purged, and replaced on mass with an imported UCR one to pile and prop up a petty tyrant, The Pacific sat back and watched. As prominent members of The Pacific joined in Milograd's coup, or sat back and cheered him on from the sidelines, we sat back and wondered; when would The Pacific take action? When would their declared principles, our ten years of shared history, our own recent commitments to them, any of that matter? What would it take The Pacific to get of the fence? The answer was that nothing would bring them off the fence. Today The South Pacific truly knows how much The Pacific values our friendship, how much their own supposed principles matter to them.

The Cabinet is in agreement that the actions of The Pacific were far from what we consider to be those an ally or a friend. Therefore effective immediately all relations with The Pacific are severed completely. The in-game and forum Embassies of The Pacific are to be closed immediately. Feeder solidarity was tested and The Pacific has been found wanting.

Statement from the Cabinet of The South Pacific
in regards to Relations with The West Pacific

It is common knowledge that the relationship between The South Pacific and The West Pacific have been far form exemplary during the past few years. It is also publicly known that the South Pacific has attempted to repair relationships several times over that period, having instigated on multiple occasions peace talks in 2011 to end the war The West Pacific started and pursued against us. It has however became clear to us that despite our best efforts, and private and public assurances to the contrary from The West Pacific, no real progress has been made since 2011. At the first opportunity when The South Pacific appeared vulnerable the real opinions and beliefs of The West Pacific became clear.

As many of you will know, Milograd, The South Pacific's Delegate, went rogue in April 2013, and for a period of eleven days conducted mass purges of TSP natives, unilaterally declared all laws void, and began a process of importing masses of UCR nations to replace the GCR community he was attempting to destroy

During the coup The West Pacific's government actively and directly supported Milograd and his 'South Pacific Social Republic', despite transparent attempts to claim neutrality. Their statement in our embassy chose to recognize Milograd's regime and actions as legitimate. The West Pacific described the coup as an "internal matter", while at the same time numerous prominent members of their government moved into The South Pacific to endorse Milograd and support his rule. While we understand that some may wish to abandon GCR independence and instead hand over control of a Pacific Region to UCR's - The NationStates Republic comes to mind - The West Pacific should have been well aware that the native community The South Pacific would not consider the mass importation of foreign WA's to prop up a tyrant delegate an "internal matter".

The blatantly hostile activities of The West Pacific will not be tolerated by The South Pacific. The actions of The West Pacific during Milograd's coup are not compatible with friendly relations, and nor are the continued hostility of The West Pacific towards our legitimate Government and the independence of our great region. Therefore the Cabinet unanimously orders the closure of the in-game and forum Embassies of The West Pacific. Furthermore, the Cabinet gives all agents and nations of The West Pacific, in particular those of TAO and Darkesia, twenty-four hours to depart from the region. The presence of hostile agents of a hostile government will not be tolerated in The South Pacific. Your continued and seditious attempts to undermine the region, and active efforts in spreading falsehoods regarding The Coalition, have not gone unnoticed.

in regards to The Dourian-Nevadar Coup of Osiris

Having observed recent events in Osiris, The South Pacific most firmly condemns the actions of the former Pharaoh Treize Dreizehn, aka The Dourian Embassy, Nevadar, and Gatesville. All regions posses the sovereign right to govern themselves in peace without fear of foreign invasion or coup d'etat. Osiris has acted in no manner that would lead to that right being justifiably abridged, and as such The South Pacific considers the actions of Gatesville and their associates fundamentally illegitimate. We will be supporting our ally in any and all ways we can during this difficult time, and call for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Gatesville from Osiris, the return of control of the region to the legally elected democratic government of the region, and the immediate transferal of the delegacy to the legally elected Delegate Cormac Stark.
 
In the short term The South Pacific will be severing diplomatic relations with Gatesville whilst we consult with Osiris and our other allies about the proper response to this incident. We implore Gatesville to take the correct action to end this crisis peacefully whilst they still can.

The South Pacific Has Elections!
 

Southern Bellz looking to hire for a specific...service...
 
After the now infamous coup orchestrated by Milograd the delegacy was held by the honorable Brutland and Norden. Brutland had filled in as Delegate after Milograd's resignation a few months prior, and to nobody's surprise he once again performed admirably.
It was the wish of the region -- including Mr. Brutland -- that elections be held to determine Milograd's democratically elected successor. These elections had to be enabled via special legislation, as no provision of election law or the charter envisioned the concept of a special election.
 
The election was contested by three major contenders; Southern Bellz, Hileville, and Liberatia. Each candidate opened their own campaign thread and worked to convince the voters of their plans for the region. After a week of campaigning, the voters spoke in the initial vote:
 

Hileville / Penguin: 20 votes
Southern Bellz/ HEM: 16 votes
Liberatia/Torchwood: 6 votes

No ticket achieved the required 50% + 1 support required to become Delegate. Due to this, A runoff election was held with Liberatia eliminated from the contest.
 

Hileville / Penguin: 16 votes
Southern Bellz / HEM: 22 votes

 
The runoff election had a few less votes than the first poll, but both showed extraordinary voter turnout and participation. The razor close election led to Southern Bellz being elected -- once again -- as the South Pacific's delegate.

The South Pacific has had uneasy relations with Gatesville since their reincarnation as "Gatesville Inc." In a stunning and reckless move weeks ago, Gatesville took control of the democratic region of Osiris. 
 
Standing by our allies the South Pacific has sent all possible aid to Osiris and condemned Gatesville for their childish and petty coup de tat. While a previous diplomatic breakdown was soothed over by the diplomatically savvy former Delegate Brutland and Norden, The South Pacific has now entered a state of war with Gatesville in response to their needless aggression.

FOREIGN UPDATE - END OF SEPTEMBER 2013

ASSEMBLY PASSES THE BILL OF RIGHTS

Following months of deliberations, the Assembly of The South Pacific passed 14-4 an amendment to the Charter that guaranteed extensive rights to all residents, while the former text just guaranteed the rights of citizens. Southern Bellz proposed this in June, with Kringalia and Sandaoguo contributing with the framework text that various citizens helped amend.

Vice Delegate Rebel-topia, among others, was confused by the votes against, “all by those not participating in the discussion. If you have a problem with something, don’t wait until the vote to voice it!”. Still it surpassed the 75% needed to amend the Charter. Thanks to Southern Bellz, Kringalia, Hileville, Rebel-topia, Sandaoguo, Belschaft, W3 Rulez and several others. You all made this possible!

ESCADE WINS FLAG CONTEST

Minister of Regional Affairs Escade won the Flag Contest and her design of a blue background with a white sun became the new regional flag of The South Pacific, after Belschaft settled a tie with the original regional flag that had been the official one since the origins of the Coalition

The method of voting involved changing one's in game flag to the one that each was voting for, and the Delegate would consider the votes of those that had endorsed him, to ease the counting of votes. Thanks to Escade, Alv, Sandaoguo, Mizay, Marina Palma Riviera and all those who submitted their designs!

ASSEMBLY VOTES ON ARTICLE 5 AMENDMENT

Voting is currently underway on an amendment to article 5 of the Charter of The South Pacific, which would increase the size of the Cabinet to include Deputy Ministers, though they would not have voting rights. This is part of Belschaft's campaign platform, giving less experienced but equally eager citizens a voice in the leadership of the executive branch. This is being done as part of a broader effort to promote engagement and inclusion in our region.

Debates on this amendment focused as well on whether the Chief Justice and the Editor-in-Chief of the South Pacific Independent Network should be included as non voting Cabinet members, with several citizens arguing that it was not the place of the head of the judicial branch and of an independent news service to partake in executive business. The role of the Chief Justice will be subject to a future judicial reform that Belschaft and Chair of the Assembly Sandaoguo will be promoting.

FOREIGN UPDATE - OCTOBER 2013

ASSEMBLY REPEALS TREATY WITH OSIRIS

On October 3 the Assembly of The South Pacific voted 13-1 to repeal our treaty with Osiris, based on the concern from various citizens that the regime of Detective Figs was not the legitimate government of Osiris, and further that the Empress did not have plans for the establishment of a future elected government with clear institutions and chains of command.

Our Cabinet had released a statement on September 18 that expressed its concern over the interruption of constitutional order and supported the regime of Detective Figs on the understanding that it was a caretaker government that would calls for elections as soon as possible. This statement and the subsequent publication of the so-called Ground Rules of Osiris formed the basis for the repeal.

Members of the Cabinet expressed at certain times their preference towards a suspension rather than a repeal, and in the end stated that there was the intention of negotiating a new agreement with Osiris in the future if the conditions are adequate.

HILEVILLE APPOINTED TO THE CSS

On September 23 the Assembly of The South Pacific voted unanimously to appoint former Delegate Hileville to the Committee for State Security (CSS), which is the government institution responsible for establishing the endorsement cap and overseeing the security of the region.

Hileville has been Delegate, Vice Delegate and Minister of Foreign Affairs of The South Pacific and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the South Pacific Independent News Network. We are sure he will do a fine job in protecting the region. Congratulations!

DEPUTY MINISTERS ARE NOW MEMBERS OF THE CABINET

On October 4 the Assembly of The South Pacific voted unanimously to amend article 5 of the Charter and have Deputy Ministers as non voting members of the Cabinet, with access to the Cabinet Office and the right to participate in its discussions. This reform is one of several that Delegate Belschaft announced in his inaugural address, along with the streamlining of the Forum and the still pending judicial reform.

ACTIVITY DISCUSSIONS

During the past weeks the Assembly has been discussing several ways to promote activity and improve inclusion in the region. Various citizens have expressed concern over limited participation from their fellow citizens and have asked for the Cabinet to take a more active role in this matter.

Part of the discussion is the long-running debate on whether the Coalition is inclusive enough and how easy is it for newer citizens to take part in the affairs of the region aside from posting in the Assembly area. While some citizens argue that there need to be bigger efforts in this aspect, some ministers have countered that opportunities to volunteer at all ministries or be appointed as Deputy Ministers exist, and that citizens just aren't taking them.

Several citizens and government officials proposed an active government participation on the RMB and giving new citizens opportunities to participate through civil service programmes, to mentor and introduce them to the region. There were suggestions to have regular Cabinet reports to account for the progress in executive dealings, an idea which the Cabinet had envisioned but was yet to implement.

BRUTLAND AND NORDEN UNVEILS NEW MAP

Former Delegate Brutland and Norden has finally unveiled the new regional map of the South Pacific, which has developed during the past four months. Besides the map itself, Brutland and Norden also made a biome map, a tectonic map and a map indicating time zones. Claims for the more than 200 plots available opened on 17 November at 6:00 AM EST and as of now over 60 nations have made their claim, indicating the names of the cities, rivers, mountains, forests, among others. Reception among citizens has been overwhelmingly positive so far:

TSP TO HOST THE 2013 WORLD FAIR

The South Pacific won 166-118 against the Democratic Socialist Assembly a bid to host this year’s World Fair on 17 November. Our proposal was written by Escade with some minor contributions from Kringalia and advocated for a diverse set of activities, to appeal to all sides of NationStates, from role-players to game players to NSG and all those in between, responding to the motto of Friendship and Cooperation. Planned activities include quiz games, debates, role-plays, sports tournaments, a masked ball, a world yearbook and many others. Chief Justice QuietDad has opened two IRC games, which can be found at #tsp_gameroom and #tsp_casino.

ASSEMBLY PASSESS NON-AGGRESSION PACT WITH LAZARUS

With an astonishing vote of 27-2, the Assembly of the South Pacific passed a Non-Aggression Pact with Lazarus to replace the much criticised treaty that has now been repealed. With the appointment of Milograd as Chairman of Lazarus, there were concerns that a positive bilateral relationship under the former treaty would be unworkable. Milograd and TSP Foreign Minister Kringalia thus approached the Assembly with the aforementioned Pact that both regions have passed with some minor modifications. The vote in the South Pacific of 93% in favour largely surpassed the require 60% for the approval of treaties, despite the presence of a controversial clause that required each signatory to report security threats to the other.

JUDICIAL REFORM

Following seven pages of thorough and sometimes heated discussions, the Assembly of the South Pacific seems to have agree on a proposal to reform our judicial system, which was a central component of Belschaft’s campaign platform. The proposal would create a Supreme Court with three justices who would follow an inquisitorial system, thus being active seekers of evidence and the establishment of facts, and it would also create a the figure of delegatorial pardons and commutations. Several citizens were concerned about the initially ambiguous nature of the proposal and the possible violation of due process, leading to heated discussions that ended when Chair of the Assembly Sandaoguo proposed a text that consisted of amendments to the Charter and the Code of Laws, which have been so far widely supported.

FURTHER NEWS:

SOUTHERN BELLZ WAS ELECTED MINISTER OF THE ARMY with a vote of 14-3 after running against StGeorgie on a platform to take the New Southern Army to raiding operations against Nazi and hate groups and to support allies whenever needed. Southern Bellz then resigned as Chief Justice and QuietDad was appointed to complete the rest of the term. So far the NSA has raided White Mens burden with The Red Fleet and is planning further anti-hate operations.

ESCADE HAS BEEN WORKING OVERTIME to bring us lots of new Resident Spotlights, which are short interviews of different nations in the South Pacific.
