Deciding to jump in here at the tail end of everything, now that Illinois is over with. Just wanted to throw in my two cents from what I've read here on the last page. It's very true that Romney is more moderate than the other candidates. I don't think that's a bad thing; the extremes tend too far toward inelasticity, and that doesn't get anything done. It's a repeating cycle of elections in which candidates tend to slide more to the extreme side in the party primaries and then try to patch up their images for the more moderate average Joe in the nation. My only hope is that Romney hasn't strayed too far to the right and has lost the vote of too many Independents.
So, yeah, I'm a Romney supporter. Santorum would never win the general election due to his polarizing viewpoints as of late, Gingrich has too much baggage to be viable, and Paul... While I like the idea of getting government to back up a little, we can't simply say "Screw you" to the rest of the world. The United States' position as one of the top democracies in the world puts us in a bit of a sticky situation; we get in trouble if we don't get involved, and press isn't exactly good if we help out either.
Romney seems to me like a guy who would get things done, if he had the opportunity. He's made it clear that the biggest issue in our nation today is the economy, and that's what he would focus on. And who else would we want for the job? He knows how the economy works from first-hand knowledge.
