Humans first came to Anartonia, an island in the North Pacific, when a group of sailors from India arrived in 1784. Many others came via ship, and in 1866 the Kingdom of Anartonia was officially founded.
Although a king ruled over the country in the early years of the republic, a committee of 5 governors was added in 1903, and the country was changed to a “federal monarchy”. Anartonia’s economy took a plunge in 1956, and in March 1962, due to corruption among the government, a large union of unemployed workers participated in strikes all over the country, forcing the governors to step down in June. The current system of government was then formed, and the country was changed to a “democratic republic”.
After 1962, the country’s political leaning has been, for the most part, liberal.
