The Beta Aurigean fleet had arrived at the Parthinian space station where they link up with the rest of the army. There they sat and awaited orders from the Parthinian commander.
All warfare is based on deception.
Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
OOC: My apologies. I went on a long weekend and kinda forgot about this.
IC: Grand Generalissimo Cael stormed into the conference room where the various admirals and captains sat. The nuclear reactor on the Murg had failed midway and had delayed them for several days. Behind
"My apologies to all of our allies. We had problems aboard our ships. Nonetheless, there is still a larger problem looming ahead. As the most of you know, the alien force has invaded my homeland. As only a few know, most of my people have abandoned us. They are led by fanatics who believe we have brought this upon ourselves. Regardless of what caused this travesty, we are the ones to fix it.
"Right now, our only help is the Pirates and the Porafi. Unfortunatly, the Porafi consist of loyal but somewhat limited fighters. The pirates are few but strong. At this moment they are engaging the primary destroyer. As the Korvin have already established a strong hold on the ground, we must cut off their retreat. With that I propose this strategy:
As the Pirates engage the primary vessel, the joint navies shall attack from the rear, crushing the main ships. Several other vessels will decend to Porafi to join the main army holding out there. As that city is currently seiged, we need to releive that until we can push forward. Once the army is freed, we can continue further inward. There is only one problem to this equasion. The enormous cannon on which the piramary ship depends is recharging from what we can assume. That needs to be destroyed as soon as possible, or else our land forces will be incinerated. Time will be of the essence.
Once the orbiting fleet is destroyed, our fighters will descend and attack from the south, providing a two pronged assault. The orbiting vessels will mop up the remaining Korvin in the atmosphere, as well as protect against further reinforcements, while we smash the settled Korvin base on Perfasi.
The only other problem will be the evacuating tribes. They might get in the way. For them, I ask that you leave them be. They are my bretheren and compatriots. They will likely be unarmed. However, I ask that you do not risk the lives of your men for them for even though they are allies, they are still cowards.
All else I ask for is that you fight well and with honor.
Any questions?"

ooc: Would anyone mind if I join this little foray?
High saturn orbit, a few hours ago...
*Stellar Fleet Marshall Ivan Milokavich of the Teian Point Colonial Navy looked on impassively as the small blocky shuttle carried him towards the barren, icy world of Titan. A mass of warships of all shapes and sizes surrounded the cold moon, their differing hulls either blending in or standing out with the harsh white and endless black backgrounds. Ivan noted at least five factions shared ownership of the massive spacefleet, the details of each factions unique style of ship building becoming apparent as the shuttle drew closer.*
"Quite a pleasent gathering it would seem..."
*Soon enough Ivan could also see the various scars of battle. At first all he could make out were the odd disjointed shapes of derelict vessels, but eventually ignited jets from hull breaches, hideous plasma scaring and broken hardware mixing with a fine film of small debris became visible.
This vast fleet had seen much fighting very recently but it still surpassed in strength of any fleet under his control Ivan mused.*
Still, I get the feeling there's gonna be a few people happy to see me.
*Ivan stepped out of the shadowed arena of the conference room and into the circle of light where the Parthinian Generalissimo had been outlining the plight of his homeland. Ivan considered that judging by the man's complete absence of emotion in that little speech, that the massive alien invasion and the complete subsequent breakdown of social order might as well have been one of those flashy wargames some of the more militant nations in the region liked to flaunt about. Ivan frowned at that, men like this were always hard to read.*
"But one question in particular sticks in my mind..."
*Ivan was currently wearing his full dress uniform for this small gathering. It was nothing too flashy, a simple white outfit with the standard lapels and insigna. Yet somehow on Ivan it made him seem somewhat imposing.*
"...and that is how can you call a race of men your bretheren and compatriots and then proceed to tell us then that they are merely cowards and are not worth saving? You must understand that this confuses me Grand Generalissimo for where I come from all parts of human society are worth saving."
Post by Beta Aurigae VII on Apr 22, 2005 11:18:48 GMT -5
"I agree Fleet Marshall Milokavich," said Fleet Admiral Kasey, "that all human lives are worth saving. But I believe what the Grand Generalissmo is trying to say is that our primary mission is to first defeat this alien threat and then deal with the issues of survivors. Because in reality every ship that goes out of its way to rescue and transport of fleeing men, is one less ship that can be used against the Korvin. If we fail to win this battle all hope not just for Parthini but for the rest of the 10000 Islands will be lost. Billions depend on the success of this mission, a few hundred thousand could be worth sacrificing for the greater good. Now if there is nothing more left to discuss," said Kasey looking at each of the other commanders, "I will prepare my fleet for battle."
Kasey stood up from his seat followed closely by Admiral Leighton and exited the room.
All warfare is based on deception.
Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
"That is true. However, these evacuees have abandoned the homeland that has been defended from foreign invasion for the last 4000 years. They have abandoned all that the rest of my government has died for. When this battle is done, they will be dealt what is proceeded for them. However, that is not my concern and we shall no longer dwell on them. Dwell on the battle at hand. If there are no further questions, we shall depart in 6 hours."
The Lord Protector's ship shuddered as the front smashed into the Korvin destroyer. There were over a dozen of these medium sized ships but already, 3 had exploded, 1 was taken, and 4 had fled. One more was about to fall.
The mothership, however, had been lacking in activity, leaving the fighting for the destroyers. The destroyers had lined up in a wall to protect the mothership, but the Pirates had pulled a Trafalger. The three dozen-odd Frigates had lined up in pairs and attacked at two different points opening their enormous cannons onto the first ships they saw. Several others had simply rammed into the sides of the Korvin ships. The fronts of the frigates were a mixture of Triremes and transports. They had a pointy end for smashing a hole in the ship and a door at the end for Pirates to pour out and unleash hell.
That was exactly what was happening now.
A giant was heard screaming, "ARRR!!!!" as a Korvin was hacked in two. The Korvin were taller than most humans, about 7 feet tall, and had hideous faces. Their greyish skin didn't help their appearence either. They carried small plasma rifles which burned the skins of humans nearly to the bone on unprotected skin. The plasma was worthless on the titanium walls on Marines. The pirates weren't so lucky.
Smet lunged forward, skewering a Korvin grunt. They seemed to lack much blood, instead spewing water when they died. Smet wasn't as agile now that he was pushing his late 40s, or the fact that he was in a space suit. Regardless, the Korvin lack any sort of agility, relying on brute force instead. Kilk was still worse.
Smet dodged a plasma blast and leaped at a Korvin, systematically, cutting its chest open with his saber. Little did he know another grunt brandishing a glass knife was behind him charging. Kilk, noticed him and hit the grunt with the blunt of the blade. The Korvin was on the ground, most of its bones broken as Kilk smashed its head. The hallway where the ram had stopped was full several dozen dead grunts. The ground was covered in water. Smet shouted back at the ship as some 30 pirates rushed in. Some had huge gattling guns, while other carried the traditional rifles or photon blades. Aside from the futuristic weapons, that motley crew would've been at home in the mid 1600s.

The vast fleet of Beta Aurigae VII, now numbering one thousand six-hundred ships. When the Parthini had moved the rendezvous to Saturn, Admiral Kasey had called for the rest of the home defense fleet. They had arrived only three hours ago and now the fleet was in position for the attack.
"Generalissmo Cael, this is Fleet Admiral Kasey, my fleet is in position and all ships report ready status. We can depart on your command. Our transports are ready for simultaneous deployment of troops when we get in system. Let's go take back your nation."
All warfare is based on deception.
Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
Harper nodded at Cael's stratagem. He felt no more pity for the fleeing Parthinians than Cael did. They had fled their homeworld. A company of Sheynati Marines had fought longer and harder, for God's sake! For this world not their own, this world these cowards were abandoning. "I concur with the Generalissimo. If one comes to me and asks for saving, I will save them. But I will make no special efforts. Those who would go to great lengths to save them, consider: There was a group of Sheynati embassy Marines down there, that fought harder than these cowards. And this is not their homeworld. Cael: We are prepared." Sheynat was a liberal, semi-socalist welfare state, which fought only when attacked. But there was something of Arabia in them, the something that had spread the Koran from Mecca into an empire spanning from Spain to China in a few centuries-something the Arabs had brought to that swampy island, and something the Anglo, Protestant settlers had picked up. And this something, under all its liberal compassion, under all its mercy for surrendering enemies, held no more compassion for a fleeing comrade then for an enemy. Harper reviewed the situation and nodded. Six fleets. His, expanded by a recently arrived six hundred ships, to 1300. Once, his countryman had unified disparate fleets under one banner-not his. He'd rallied to another Admiral, the Boktavian, and the others had followed. Who was in control of this one? Cael seemed to be. That was something Harper was just fine with. He'd followed orders before-he could do it again. But whoever this war's Romer was, he needed to make himself clear...fast. And a Traier wouldn't hurt, he mused...

*Ivan nodded at the repsonses from around the conference room.*
"Fair enough. But know this, I have word from the citizens conclave of New Dracora that any ground forces deployed to aid in this mission will include a special humanitarian detachment to rescue any refugees from the region. Call it compassion or call it a fools gambit but in our experience reducing civilian casualities always helps in recovery efforts after any conflict."
*Ivan looked around the room to study the faces of those in the small chamber. He let a small subtle smile pass onto his face.*
"But enough politics and social agendas for now. I bring some good news perhaps. Earlier today the citizens conclave deemed that although the country of New Dracora has strict policies on neutrality and minimising interaction in outside issues, the Korvin invasion of Parthini poses a significant risk to the lives of the New Dracorian people and as such assistance into their removal will be provided with as much backing as possible..."
*Notices a lot of blank stares in the audience as they try to understand the legalese.*
"In layman terms: We're gonna help you peeps knock those alien b*stards back to where they came from and them some. It's why I'm here."
*Sees a few captains and admirals mouth the word 'Oh'.*
"As such the Teian Point colonials have been moblised and are at your disposal Generalissimo, as well all five heavy hover battalions and several marine detachments are preparing as we speak. The conclave assures me that the New Dracorian Defence Fleet in ready for deployment but they are keeping them on the ground until any attack on the korvin fleet commences. It's all supposed to be a surprise... heh."
*Presses a few buttons on his datalink to bring up any additional information.*
Oh yes, one more thing... I've been asked to request permission of the Parthians to setup a temporary air base in any patch of land you guys still have. It's a special request from Wing Commodore Andrews, hmm... says here he needs a small patch of land to build a number of fast rearming decks in order to support a contigent of Cyclones and Hades bombers. What say you Generalissimo? The added air support would be nice would it not?
*With not much time left until the entire fleet is due to leave for the offensive the Teian Point colonials finally arrive at saturn. With limited access to the technology used by the conclave, the colonial ships look blocky and unsophisticated employing very heavy armour rather than energy shields. But despite this, the teian ships boast a vast number of multi-missile pods and an impressive array of rail gun technology ranging from small anti-fighter turrets to massive ship-killers. Hidden under the primative interior however are two inventive additions unique to the Teian Point Republic - the quantum drive and the matter replicator - giving the sluggish looking ships an amazing turn of speed and a limitless supply for their projectile dominant weaponary.
Thus, while the 600+ strong fleet that arrives at saturn may seem unimpressive - with most of the fleet being destroyer size or lower - it represents a surprisingly significant force.*
---------------------------------------------------- Make up of the Teian Point Colonial Fleet
(The following are organised into ten seperate battlegroups of equal proportion)
10 Strato Carriers The largest thing to come out of the teian point shipyards, the Strato Carrier is a giant floating fortress capable of supporting an impressive 100 fighter-sized squadrons and more than 50,000 troops. Combined with three dual-mounted 150m railguns - perhaps some of the largest projectile weapons ever created, numerous missile launchers and even more rail guns of just as many sizes it takes a lot to match it's firepower. Hitting it isn't a problem however, at over 12kms long it ain't hard to miss.
20 Fleet Carriers As long as there isn't a strato carrier around, fleet carriers are often seen leading teian armadas. Following teian point doctrine, fleet carriers carry a multitude of nimble support craft rather in favour of the heavier weaponary you would often see on the obsolete battleship model. That's not to say teian fleet carriers are primarily mobile air bases, each often comes equiped with an impressive array of missile weaponary and counts five dual-mounted 9.62m railgun turrets among it's arsenal. Supports 20 fighter-sized squadrons and 10,000 troops. It's total length is approximately 2.4kms long.
40 Heavy Cruisers After the decommission of the battleship class from the teian point stellar navy many of the cruisers still in active duty were upgraded using some of the salavged gear to create the heavy cruiser class. Heavy cruisers are essentially tightly packed weapons platforms designed to utilise it's smaller size to outmanuver older, large vessels with as near as equal firepower possible giving them the unofficial name of 'pocket battleships' amongst many teian servicemen. Teian heavy cruisers carry two triple-mounted 13.24m railgun turrets, eight 9.62 dual-mounted railgun turrets and four heavy missile launchers along with a multitude of AA gun platforms and anti-missile missile pods. Can support 4 fighter-sized squadrons and 2,000 troops. Is approx. 900m long.
80 Destroyers Destroyers are often deployed to protect larger, unwieldly vessels from smaller but heavily armed vessels such as cruiser, destroyer and frigate classes. As such your typical teian destroyer comes equiped with six triple-mounted 5.28m rapid-fire rail gun turrets and two heavy multi-missile pods - both weapon types aimmed at overwheming the countermeasures often carried by mid-sized assault craft. Also comes equiped with twelve twin-mounted .50m caliber AA railgun turrets and anti-missile defense. Can support 2 fighter-sized squadrons and 1,000 troops. Is approx. 550m long.
160 Missile Frigates During the overall that saw an end to battleships and a rise of heavy cruisers in the teian point colonial stellar navy, frigates were taken from their old fleet defense roles and given a complete refit. Outdated railgun turrets were removed and replaced with fast-tracking missile launchers and multi-missile launchers giving the newer model much more of a punch and moved the 'missile frigate' in a more modern role as a anti-figher/strike support vessel. Missile frigates are favourites of the teian point marines and hence are often used in ground deployment and boarding actions. Comes with three heavy multi-missile launchers, eight anti-fighter/missile fast track multi-missile launchers and six standard missile launchers as well as four twin-mounted rapid-fire 0.50 caliber AA rail-guns. Can support either 1 fighter squadron and 500 troops or 3,000 marines. Is approx. 300m long.
320 Teian Patrol Boats Tei patrol boats are corvette-sized gunboats often used in support of fighter craft and boarding actions. These nimble craft can normally fly circles around larger vessels and there twin rapid-fire 3.62m rail gun and single fixed mount 5.28m railgun is more than enough to worry even standard frigate-class vessels. Also comes with two small multi-missile launchers and is the smallest ship in the teian point navy that can utilise the matter replicator. Is approx. 150m long.
6240 Teian Bombers Standard teian bomber craft, uses twin bomb bays to launch a plasma explosive and comes with four medium missile launchers. Has a rear mounted twin 0.30 caliber AA railgun turret for protection.
12480 Teian Fighters Standard teian fighter craft, armed with six fixed-mounted, rapid-fire 0.50 caliber railguns and two light, fast-tracking missile launchers. Unusually fast and nimble.
Cael stepped on to the deck of the Murg. Most everything was ready. The fleet was to leave in 30 minutes and he wanted everything ready.
He liked the Dracorians. They were cautious but professional. And they were willing to help.
Cael checked the roster of ships. The other five patrolling ships had arrived as well as 24 of the new ships. One had been destroyed along the way by the Korvin. According to the list he had:
A surprisingly large force, he thought, except most of it was smaller craft. Well, aside from the unknown number of pirates, and the scattered Militia, this was all he had. "Damn" he swore to himself.

OOC: I have a feeling, that this thread died a long time ago, but I will ask if we want to continue it anyway. If not, I think we should come up with another one with a better plot, because mine was very obviously poorly thought out and made up. Any suggestions on who should develop the next one, if we are indeed abandoning this thead?
