Game over, spies win!
Thank you, all, for agreeing to test out The Resistance! I hope you all have fun, and it is successful enough to repeat and even expand. The theme here is that a ragtag group of resistance members from the dystopian city of Midas are trying to infiltrate the evil corporation of Zeebus! Zeebus is a well-known name around Midas and the greater region, and they hold much political power. Their methods of business are shady to say the least, and human rights abuse by the company, amongst other nasty practices, is widespread. Infiltration of Zeebus by the resistance should allow access to top secret documents and hopefully lead to the crippling of the corporation! Unfortunately, the resistance group has been infiltrated by some spies that are working for Zeebus!

The player list is also the order of leadership, as created by a random number generator. Land will start, and we'll work our way down the list. In this match, there are seven players. Therefore we’ll have four resistance members and three spies. The spies know who each other are, and therefore who are the resistance members, but the resistance only knows who they themselves are, and have no knowledge of who is a resistance member and who is a spy. As soon as this is posted, I’ll send you a message saying whether you are a resistance member or a spy. If you are a spy, I’ll tell you who the other two spies are. As the rounds progress, greater numbers of resistance members are involved in the infiltration. With seven players this is:
Where the asterisk denotes that, conversely to the regular missions where only one fail vote is needed for the mission to fail, at least two fail votes are required for the mission to fail.
The rules are explained in detail (we won’t be considering the expansion rules in this round) in this slightly obnoxious, somewhat endearing, low-fi video here.
Basically, The Resistance is centred on a small group of resistance soldiers fighting against the corrupt government. Unfortunately, the resistance group has been infiltrated by spies! The job of the resistance is to complete three missions successfully, while it is the spies’ job to thwart three missions. Therefore, there is a maximum of five rounds. Similarly to werewolf, the spies know they are spies and they know the other spies, and the resistance only knows that they are the resistance. They have no knowledge on other players. Given seven players, there are four resistance members and three spies. Players are encouraged to communicate tactics on the forum or, if necessary, via PM.
A random player is chosen to start proceedings, and play continues clockwise. The leader for the round selects from the group a certain number of resistance fighters to play (depending on the round number). Each round contains two phases. The first phase is simply a majority vote between everyone as to whether the round should go ahead with the players selected by the current leader. This vote is public, and votes will be cast by posting in the thread. If a majority is not reached, then the player clockwise becomes the leader, and reselects the resistance team. If this occurs five times in a single round, the spies automaticallywin that round without the second part even being played win the entire game. When a majority is reached, the players selected to play the round may proceed to the second round. The second round is conducted in private. Simply, the selected players choose whether they want to mission to pass or fail. Resistance members are required to pass a mission (I don’t know why this is a rule; you’d be insane to fail a mission as a resistance member), while spies are allowed to pass or fail a mission. Votes are tallied, and if there is a single fail vote, the mission fails and the round goes to the victorious spies, and knowledge is gained on who is a spy and who is not. As above, the first to three wins.
As long as they do not jeopardise the integrity of the game, please post questions in the thread as they come up. As with werewolf, please make suggestions by posting who you think is a spy and who is a resistance member any time during the game.
Good luck!
