ForMin nodded, he did not notice his aide checking his tablet computer in the corner of the room. "Of course, and this is a situation that is of far more personal to your nation than ours. Quite simply, we have seen far too many of these chaotic situations degrade into humanitarian nightmares, and Catonia is finally in a position to help do something about it. We would propose that we..." The aide had moved to the Minister's side.
"My apologies, Minister." He whispered into ForMin's ear and placed the tablet in front of him.
"Pardon me a moment," said ForMin to his opposite number. He read the dispatch, hiding his reactions, then paused and took a deep breath. He looked up, making eye contact with the Globexanterian.
"Well, friend, the tenor of this meeting just changed, and please do not think I am springing this on you. We have just now become aware. It seems that a university archeological team from Catonia was trapped in Stinpus when the fighting broke out. There are 15 of them, including one member of the royal family. They are in hiding, but we are unsure where. They have limited communication capabilities, relying on a single satellite phone. The communication company was able to track the signal down to an area in Northeast Stinpus about 100 kilometers by 100 kilometers." He looked down at the communication. "I have been ordered to officially request any and all intelligence, logistical, and military assistance the USSG is willing to offer to assist us in locating and bringing them safely home."
Meanwhile in the Palace Situation Room
The duchess grew tired of the debate around the table. "Alright Gentlemen. I need military options. In case diplomacy fails. What do you have."
The General of the Army spoke up. "Your Grace, we have a combined branch operation. First, Black Omega is locked and loaded. Once we find out their location, they will be wheels up within the hour to begin extraction. If we get permission to use the USSG as a staging site, we can move air assets into place to support the operation. In addition, our submarines are on station off the North Coast if we need to perform a cruise missile strike."
