Poetry Compeitition - June 2013
Islanders,
I have been having some struggles to come up with a suitable poetry competition that would be challenging and interesting. Fortunately as I signed on this morning the perfect topic was right there in front of my face.
Subject:
Please formulate a poem to express your feelings about the updated forum, and any rammifications of said upgrade.
Please PM me all entries by by end of day Friday (forum time), UTC -8.
The winner of course receives the title of Poet Laureate and will be recognized as holding an official position within the Islands. The Poet Laureate is expected to maintain an office and produce poems periodically, either because they feel inspired or because an Islander has suggested a subject.

Entry 1
Vast improvements we were promised
What they are I still don’t know
How the heck is Hydra better?
Tell me why it does not blow
Do I care that I can follow
Those who spam both night and day?
Or that threads which I have bookmarked
Are now just a click away?
My awards were stolen from me
And I miss the forum store
Our economy, imploded
How then now do we keep score?
With no bribes and no donations
Ev’rything we do is free
There’s no pay for our recruiters
And they’ve killed our lottery
They can claim this version’s better
But this product I find slack
They can keep their bells and whistles
I just want my tacos back
Entry 2
Sometimes tectonic plates can shift,
And Islands almost seem to drift.
The landscape changes, mountains climb,
Entire nations lost to time,
All unexpected and quite swift.
But panic not, for we shall see,
Ten Thousand Islands, I guarantee,
Overcome it all, and learn, adapt,
Even if it all must be remapped,
For we can weather any adversity.
I say to you, if you distress,
As I did at first, I must confess,
That though these Islands look askew,
And you wish we might the old renew,
Relax, calm down, and acquiesce.
