OK... Now that the game is over, I'd like to talk about a couple of things.
First and foremost, delays. On night three, I had to wait for a fair amount of time after the phase had expired for the choice of the wolves. Well after the expiration of the phase, they chose to kill Ketab. I let the choice stand because I wasn't clear inthe initial instructions about punctuality.
That led us to what happened on Night 6, Day 7. The Elder hadn't given me his choice so I felt that since I gave the Wolves a break after the expiration of Night phase 2 and allowed the kill to stand, it was only fair to give the Elder more time.
Also, as we discussed in game, I called for players to request a day phase extension. None did. I then consulted with Pengu, who has modded games, and Aerso, who has played as many if not more games than I have, and they felt that I was being fair ending the phase even though there were only 3 votes.
In my next game that I mod, I WILL be explicit as to deadlines and the consequences of missing those.
Power roles: I liked the hunter when Calanria first introduced it a few games back and I employed the role a few times. But I feel that as the Elder now has enhanced abilities, the Hunter could actually be bad for the Wolves. Although the hunter knows the identity of the wolves, they don't know his identity, thus they could inadvertently kill him which would hurt their chances of victory. Moreover, I don't know that I like the idea of the Wolves and the Hunter splitting a victory.
Thus, I felt that 4 wolves as opposed to 3 and a Hunter evens things up.
I also brought back the seer's ability to raise an Army. He can only scan one person a night and it takes a while to build an Army, especially if he scans wolves.
