Greetings Mortals. We're here to discuss the results for the end of the "game" that you played.
But first, thanks again for playing of course, you all did well.
Indeed. First, let's talk about some of the "ups" that we had in the game. Ducky?
Thankfully I can say that compared to 27, this game was a bit more balanced out when it came to story and structure. One still existed to a degree, and wasn't taken away from too much to provide some much needed structure that was lacking in 27. I think while there was still some confusion as far as roles went, it was definitely in much less of a degree than getting hourly questions and PMs like 27.
Indeed, though there's definitely some work that was still needed. There was definitely still some confusion in the role of the Royals, or to be frank, the fact that the King only knew all of their own power roles, but wasn't allowed to speak of them UNLESS the role in question was already included in the conversation.
In other words, they were gifted with knowledge, but burdened with silence. When people were asking the King for who other roles were, they were actually breaking the rule in regards to the fact that he was forbidden to speak of them unless they were already in the conversation. And let's be honest, once again, he only knew the roles on HIS team. Asking him who to vote off on the black team was just silly.
Back to the ups, though. The removal of "No Lynch" days worked wonders for the game.
That it did. I was very impressed with how much people actually talked and theorized during the day phases this time around. It was almost like the game was really being played. I have to say that from what I've seen with the later days, it's definitely been the most conversation I've seen in the actual thread as opposed to the PMs.
Though there's definitely some kinks to work out as well, namely hearing about other PMs possibly happening without our knowledge.
We weren't asking for the world when it was said that the PM flow would be controlled by us. We just wanted to make sure that the game would follow a proper path to where the Seer would be the only one really figuring out and communicating with the roles. You know, like the game normally plays out when they're the only one (aside from the wolves and possibly defenders) that have the knowledge of others' roles.
Indeed. There were some obvious flops such as, once again, pretty much anything surrounding role revealing.
And let's be honest, nobody is going to be happy with how that plays out. You either have people revealing roles while bad guys feel upset since they have it feel constricting, or you find ways to make it more difficult and it still upsets some people...or you ban it completely and the good guys feel upset since they're not allowed to get people to know their role and stand behind them. In other words, pretty much no matter what happens, people are going to get upset with the result, so the best that can be done is try to work a happy medium. What the happy medium is has yet to be figured out, though.
It wouldn't have been needed if the first game changer never happened, though. Namely, the king being revealed so early in the game.
Agreed. At that point was when the balance of the game completely fell apart and the fate of the game was pretty much set in stone. Honestly, we didn't even see that one coming. We were hoping that you were going to go through with offing Shizensky instead.
It definitely would have helped the bad guys a bit, especially since after that point, she was offing a bad guy every night.
That was definitely a host error on our part. At that point was when the questions should have gone to being more specific since we had a feeling she'd know all the black pieces at that point (though it is a little curious how she did...), but we chose to let it continue with the more broad questions.
We were also hoping that we were going to be brought in early to the game as well, and if we had gotten at least 3-5 more participants, it would have happened.
Alas, as we only had 15 willing souls, other plans had to be set. If it wasn't for Benevolent Thomas bringing up Ater's name, a completely different plan would have been set in motion.
To think...if it wasn't for that comment, this may have been a game to where the Host took the interactive role as a lone Game Master to bring balance back to the game. This might have gone far differently if that was introduced on the 14th.
Instead, the idea fell upon recruiting a veteran werewolf player, and the first to be lynched (namely me).
Suffice it to say, it was a little disappointing since being introduced midway through...we never got utilized.
We really just decided to sit back and watch things unfold themselves.
I think the main host was wanting more from us as far as following our respective roles, but at the same time making sure there was an equal balance to both sides at the same time. In other words, doing something that would go against the team we controlled every so often to make sure one side wasn't incredibly skewed.
But hey, we're partial to our teams. Why would we want to turn around and let one of our own get killed?
Indeed. There might be other things that I'm forgetting to mention...but alas, I cannot remember what they are. So instead, we'll stop for now, and leave you with the events of the nights previous.

*Pengu rushes back in after stopping to catch his breath* Good lord, sorry about my disappearance there, folks. I thought I was done for after all of that. Ehem...
So I do have to apologize on a couple of accounts as the game could have gone differently in places. Wherever you see it saying "host error" is because I completely spaced in places. On night 4, I had completely forgotten that Thomas had been given scanning power and accidentally ended the night phase before he had the chance to give his result. It's only for that reason that Aersoldorf was given his power back so that he was able to use it later (this time giving defending power to Thomas). As the two above mentioned, the whole broad-question rule with the White Queen should have been stamped out the moment the King was revealed. But I spaced on doing that as I was more focused on introducing the "surprises" to you guys. Thinking back that could have easily just been another "surprise."
There were definitely some close calls in the game, and that does include Aersoldorf's death that should-have-but-didn't happen in the game. I wanted to introduce something for the bishops, but I also wanted it to be semi-fair to affect both of them even though it wasn't a huge game changing surprise. It just happened to be a amusing coincidence that Randomain just happened to get voted off before he had a chance to even use his power. Again, looking back, Aerso's death should have remained, though the game most likely wouldn't have changed at all if he had (first would have been dead...but Mark still would have gone off in the same fashion on the same day phase). Everything else I can think of was pretty covered up above, but if there's other things you guys want to point out as well, obviously feel free to bring it up.
Oh! Before I forget on a final note: I was actually very impressed despite some flaws here and there how well this played out being a power role heavy game with only 3 villagers. This will most likely be the only game I'll ever do with that many power roles, though it definitely makes me want to consider doing a much more fine tuned type of team/on/team type of game in the future.
But first, thanks again for playing of course, you all did well.
