House Cup and Shield (May 2014)

The Third House Cup and Shield Competition has officially begun!

Here is a reminder about how this contest will run:

• The competition will run for a period of one month. The competition will begin one month after the election of the Lyonesse East Senator. It is the LE Senator's responsibility to build awareness among house leaders and in house threads about the competition leading up to the starting date.
• During the week leading up to the starting date, the LE Senator will remind House leaders to update their rosters. CTE nations will be placed in a separate section, and WA nations should have (WA) placed next to their name.
• During the period of the competition, participating nations will utilize the Accelerator to contact new nations and recruit them to the Islands.
• The Accelerator calculates a [monthly point total based on the recruiter's performance. At the end of the competition week, the LE Senator will access the "Top Recruiters" page of the Accelerator to determine the points accumulated by each participant. The LE Senator will then contact the Immigration Minister to receive the total for each recruiter of nations that came to XKI for the duration of the competition. The recruiter will earn twenty points for each successful recruit.
• The LE Senator will then add these points to a House Grand Total, each participant's points being added to their House's total. The House with the largest Grand Total wins the House Cup. The LE Senator will then calculate a per capita total based on the number of Accelerator-eligible nations in the House. The House with the largest per capita value wins the House Shield. These awards remain with the house until the next competition.

I will be posting periodical updates concerning standings and top performers in this thread throughout the month. Feel free to chat in this thread about the competition as well. The results too will be posted in this thread at the end of the month. I think that's all I've got for now... Aersoldorf 2014!

Alright ladies and gentlemen, at the end of our first week of competition the numbers stand like this:

• House Wordy: 1st place at 11,133 points
• House Aersoldorf: 2nd place at 5,741 points
• House Boltor: 3rd place at 233 points
• House Malecia: 4th place at 126 points

An incredibly strong run so far. We're only a week in and already there are more points than in the entire event of January! Many thousands of recruitment telegrams have gone out, and quite a few new nations have joined the islands. Time will tell how the rest of this month will turn out, but we're off to a fantastic start. Whoever wins the cup, we all win the result.

The reason why the points are so vastly different than in January may be because autocerb may have still been running off of the Accelerator at the time.

Update time, at the end of our second week of competition the numbers stand like this:

• House Wordy: 1st place at 20,739 points
• House Aersoldorf: 2nd place at 10,370 points
• House Boltor: 3rd place at 557 points
• House of Paffnia: 4th place at 282 points
• House Malecia: 5th place at 126 points
• House of Ananke: 6th place at 28 points

And the list ever grows! More contestants enter the race, and thousands more recruitment messages go out into the world! House Wordy maintains its inhuman lead with noble Aersoldorf in steady pursuit.

A very strong run this month. Autocerb or no, the recruiters are working hard for the glory of the Islands. We're only half way through this contest, and we've already set a new record for number of nations contacted during a House Cup event. Good show everyone, good show.

Update time once again, at the end of our third week of competition the numbers stand like this:

• House Wordy: 1st place at 29,742 points
• House Aersoldorf: 2nd place at 13,063 points
• House of Paffnia: 3rd place at 2169 points
• House of Ananke: 4th place at 1101 points
• House Boltor: 5th place at 1099 points
• House Malecia: 6th place at 126 points

Looks like things have slowed down a bit this week, but we're still getting out a lot of TGs. House Wordy continues to lead the way with House Aersoldorf in a solid 2nd place. There's a fair bit of action in the remaining 3 ranks as Paffnia has stirred up the mix by bringing his house up into 3rd place. Surdra and Barry are close behind and within 2 points of each other. So that'll be interesting to see who ends up securing 3rd place as we go into our final week (and a half).

As a heads up, I am going to be traveling next week (Sunday-Wednesday). It can't be helped, I'm afraid. And I was just thinking, since the event ends Saturday night... well we have two options. I can either call it earlier on Saturday and post the final results before I leave. Or, if you all are ok with waiting a few days, I can post them when I get back later in the week.

Let me know soon if you have a preference. Personally I'm leaning toward posting them before I leave, since I don't think half a day will make a difference at this point, and I don't want to keep people waiting. But if you'd rather wait, just say so.

Since Aersoldorf is still having trouble getting any numbers from the Acccelerator for successful recruits, I decided to use # of nations contacted as the basis for the shield calculation. Anyway, without further ado, here it is!

1st place is House Wordy at 1977
2nd place is House Aersoldorf at 840
3rd place is House Paffnia at 621
4th place is House Boltor at 429
5th place is House Malecia at 126
