GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION
The ultimate authority within the Empire rests with the Emperor. He has the power to close the Assembly, call for new elections, appoint Ministers and create new laws by decree.
The Emperor is advised by a 300 strong Assembly which is elected by vote of everyone in the nation who has completed two years of national service. One Assembly Member (AM) is elected for each Burgh (settlement above a certain population) and they serve a term of four years. From within their number the Emperor must select a Prime Minister, however the other Ministers can be selected at will by the Emperor.
Assembly Members are free to put forward legislation and should it pass vote of the Assembly the Emperor is expected to give it due consideration but may veto it if he wishes.

Born in 1934 Jonas became Emperor in 1971 after the death of his father Thomas II. As with all Altsonians he joined the military after completing a degree in Marine Engineering, and served his two years national service with the Imperial Navy. Upon completion of his national service he returned to Thale University where he earned a Master's degree in Marine Engineering, before in 1960 rejoining the Imperial Navy as an Engineering Officer. He rose through the ranks until his father became ill in 1969 and he began to take over the role of Emperor. His final position in the Navy was as a Commander of Engineers aboard the AIS Hemmin aircraft carrier. In 1971 he became Emperor after his fathers death.
In 1959 he married the daughter of the Duke of Brunsheim the Lady Katya. The two were married until 2000 when Katya died of cancer. In 2010 the Emperor remarried, this time to Duchess of Jaholm Rachel Van Wilk. The Emperor has four children from his previous marriage, Thomas, Richard, Helene and Madeline.
Currently the Emperor is beginning to hand over some of the day to day running of the government to his heir Thomas who has already by crowned marking him as the legitimate successor to his father.
DUCHESS of JAHOLM AND IMPERIAL LADY - RACHEL VAN WILK
Born in 1950 she married the Emperor in 2010 after meeting him at a Charity fundraiser for the Imperial Armed Forces Veterans Association (IAFVA) in 2007. She was previously married to a former military officer and has no children by that marriage. Since becoming the Emperors wife she has established many charitable organisations that are supported by the Imperial Family. The largest of these is the Imperial Education Fund (IEF) which helps poorer members of Altsona who are academically bright but lack the finances to attend further study. Before retiring she was a translator for the Imperial Diplomatics Service (IDS) and speaks four languages, Altsonian, English, French and German.
Crown Prince Thomas
Born in 1957 Thomas is the eldest son of the Emperor and his first wife Katya. In keeping with tradition he was crowned in 2012 marking him clearly as his father's chosen successor.
In 1975 he married his long term Public School girlfriend Beatrice. In 1976 his eldest child Christian was born and Thomas entered the Altsonian Institute for Science and graduated four years later with a degree in Biology. In 1981 he began his compulsary military service with the Imperial Ordenance Corps where he developed new methods to help defuse explosive devices. He left the military in 1986 to pursue a career in the civilian demolitions sector. In 1990 he established the Hahn Demolitions Company which today undertakes demolitions of buildings for construction across the country. In 2011 he left the company to take up the role of Minister for Industry and since 2012 has begun to take on responsibility for the nations economic policies from his father.
GRAND DUKE CHRISTIAN
Born in 1980 he is the eldest child of Crown Prince Thomas and his wife Beatrice. He is currently second in line to the throne.
In 1998 he left St. George High School and began a medical degree at University, in 2006 he qualified as a doctor specialising in emergency medicine. In 2008 he finished his national service as a member of the Army Emergency Medicine Corps. While in the Army he meet Sarah who was also doing her national service and the two married in 2009 and a year later had a son called Peter. Christian currently works as a part-time Doctor in Thale's St.Jude Infirmary. He also is a member of the nations Triathlon team and has represented the nation at International Events.
