The Candy Lane celebrated with Robert Mentos, who won the 4th leg of the XKI Grand Prix at N64 Rainbow Road (Shy Guy). The recent XKI GP came to an end with Asscom Racing (TAS Asamania) finishing in first overall, ND Petro-co/Fizzy Cola Racing, and GRRRC came in 2nd and third respectively. Meanwhile, Opon Mining finished tied for 7th overall. In an exclusive interview with The Candy Lane Herald, prior to the start of the season, His Majesty Tim Horton Jr. told us that he loves his car, his team and his fans. He expects that there will be stiff competition and the Grand Prix will be a hard fought affair. When asked if he believes Opon Mining can win he responded, "Our odds are as good as anyone else's. As a host, the ball is in our court so we have to go out there and go full throttle, that's all that can be asked of us.” The prince finished 6th overall at the Candistantinople Raceway.
While Opon Mining had hoped to be in the top 5, this was the first time that racers from the Candy Lane participated in international racing. It was also the first time that the Candy Lane could host an international racing event. This was a real learning experience for the team and they hope to apply what they’ve learned in January, when the next season begins.

#2: 105 - [New Dracora] ND Petro-co/Fizzy Cola Racing (NDP/FCR) - NDP

Meanwhile, in the XKI Soccer League, The Candy Lane has been represented by The Candy Lane Mentos. To date they have a record of 4-1-4 and sit in 7th place overall. They are also tied for 1st in the N/A community, with a game in hand. In their last match, they faced Butlers United who sit in 4th place overall. The game was tied 1-1 heading into the ninety-first minute, when the Butlers managed to sneak the game winner past keeper Marco Carducci. The Mentos have been struggling through a variety of injuries lately, most notably to forward James Bond. The Mentos will face powerhouses Zevnenwick FC and Elite Chickens this week.
Finally, The Islander's Beach Championship has wrapped with athletes from The Candy Lane winning two bronze medals and several respectable finishes. Ater Nox reported that in The Beach Fashion Show, national icon Apple Fritter “wore a stunning coconut themed dress with a palm tree inspired hat which the Judges greatly approved of.” She finished in third place and won our first medal. Over in ”Wipe-Me-Out-Not!” Surfing, Jack Benimble, “pulled off the very impressive One-Handed-Handstand trick with near perfect technique, and was only let down by his unsuccessful third attempt when a large seagull flew into his head.”
Various sports continue to grow in popularity and The Candy Lane has certainly benefited economically from these events. In particular, hosting a leg of the XKI GP significantly benefited the lagging tourism industry. As the XKI Sports League expands and new leagues emerge, we can hope to see more and more athletes compete on the World stage.
