After a week of voting, I am pleased to announce the winner of June 2015 Poet Laureate Contest: Great Britain & Scotland! Here is his entry:
Oh Summer! My Love!
She arrives quiet and steady,
Her lotus-feet kiss the ground softly.
She would moves with an adorable royalty,
For she is very high and lofty.
The skies are her scarf, glistening blue,
Her crown are the rays of her Sun,
Every blooming flower is her Eye,
Every cloud adorns her as their One!
I have watched her every year,
I have grown in her playful care,
I have aged but she, eternal,
Has been forever fair.
Her kindly love is all I adore,
With every visit to the beach.
As her gown touches the ground,
The foam blesses every and each.
The rocks try to hold on to her,
As the birds giggle so shy,
But she moves on leaving a sign,
A starfish, pearl or dye.
I love summer, a foolish love
For seasons come and go by.
But should I suppress my heart's choice,
I fear I may die.
All who've wanted Summer before,
Have lost all of their life.
Having known this I sit silent,
and watch her go by.
She leaves in the most beautiful farewell,
With a colourful carpet of her blessings,
She moves on, leaving us to stay,
With nothing but guessing.
Oh! When shall she return,
And make my heart soar again?
When shall she walk among us once more,
Curing my heart's core again?
