I absolutely agree that we need a woman president. However, I don't believe Hillary should be that person.
We cannot vote in a woman simply because she's a woman. The same goes for everybody else, man and woman. We should not vote in people based on trivial things that cloud real analysis and judgement of the candidate.
And some people like to make the argument that electing Hillary will smash sexism and give girls and women a good message, showing that women can be president. While this may be true to some extent, I believe that overall it will have the opposite effect. Hillary is a dishonest person and is remarkably shady in foreign policy issues. If things go wrong in her presidency (the debt goes up, wars are started, relations are damaged), what do you think conservatives will blame it on? Partly because of her general history of corruption and "liberal incompetence", but more likely because she's a woman. One of her primary points throughout this entire election has been that "she's a woman" or that she would be the "first woman president", but that could easily backfire. Conservatives could make sexist arguments against her and as a result, spread sexism.
In addition, as mentioned before, Hillary got where she is now mostly through lying, corruption, manipulation, pandering, and literally breaking the law.
What kind of example do you think that would set for women and girls?
Do we really want them to think that the only way for them to accomplish their goals and/or be in power is through lying, manipulation, and breaking the law?
We need a woman president, that much is true.
But, as with any other president, we need a president that is honest, has integrity, and works for the good of the people.
Hillary Clinton offers none of those things, which is why she must not go down in history as the first woman President of the United States.
