1) Region Name:
St Abbaddon
2) Off-site forums link (if available):
We have one but it is not going to be used until we build up our numbers.
3) Your position in your region:
Native Delegate
4) Alliances and/or organizations your region is part of:
None!
5) Why you want to exchange diplomatic relations with our region:
As some of you are aware, in the last weeks of 2015 my region was raided by DEN and we have been occupied ever since. DEN went for a refound, and a Liberation successfully saved our region. We've regained control of the region today.
I made a decision a long time ago that if I were to get control of St Abbaddon back the first thing I'd do as Delegate is request embassies with 10000 Islands. TITO fought like hell to stop the raid the update it was occurring. Without 10kI's support, our Liberation might not have been such a landslide. I received words of encouragement from more members of 10kI than any other region during these months.
Your region was a friend to me and my region when there was no reason to, when most thought we were probably done for. I know our region has been inactive, and if you reject us for that reason I understand. You deserve the request, the recognition, and the wholehearted gratitude even if you decide to deny embassies at this time. I do intend for the region to be more active going forward, though.
6) A brief description of your region (e.g. military stance, gameplay alignment, political ideals, etc.). Please include whether your region is engaged in any way in the raider/defender aspect of NationStates and, if so, how:
Some in TITO might remember me from my involvement in raiding seven or eight years ago, but I am known best as a defender since then (now retired from updating but still defender-minded).
As for St Abbaddon, in the past we have been neutral. Hawkswind, the oldest native other than me, strongly hated R/D and wanted St Abby left alone. For that reason I switched nations regularly to keep myself from gaining influence and distanced myself to try to create separation between myself and St Abby. Now that Hawkswind has left the game and I'm the obvious successor, I suspect the philosophy of the region will change.
Historically our region was created in late 2002 or early 2003 by a group of people that came to NS from the IGN Sci Fi forums. St Abbaddon was the name of a massive RP series there, and I intend to use those as the source for the post-raid culture.
As a final personal note, I again want to thank everyone at 10kI so much. Your region's conduct in this whole thing was one of the lights that kept me from giving up on the game as having been taken over by players only in it to frustrate others.
