For those unfamiliar with Avalon, it is a game based on The Resistance, but with a number of more interesting power roles. A good place to check this out is here:
And
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalon
Depending on the number of players will depend on what roles are included.
How to Play Resistance
The rules are simple there are two teams. Traditionally Mordor (Arthurs Knights) and the Fellowship of the Ring (Minions of Mordred). Each team will not know the identity of the other players.
One player will choose who to send on a mission. Players will vote whether or not to approve the team to go on said mission. If a team is rejected, a new player will then select a new team and voting will commence again. If a mission team is rejected 5 consecutive times the game is won by the Fellowship.
The object of the game is for one team to successfully pass or fail three of the five missions. Voting will be public.
Mordor can only succeed a mission, while the Fellowship can choose to succeed or fail a mission. All Players on the mission will PM the GM over their choice of failing or succeeding a mission.
Avalon/Mordor Variation
In Avalon/Mordor there will be a role of the Dark Lord (traditionally Merlin) who will know the who the members of the Fellowship are from the beginning of the game. However they must conceal their role throughout the game, if Frodo (Assassin of Mordred) discovers who Dark Lord is, at the end of the game they can destroy the One Ring (identify which player they believe is the Dark Lord). If the One Ring is destroyed the Mordor Forces automatically lose. Only the Frodo can destroy the One Ring.
There will be no conferring or communicating between players privately. Any infringements on this rule will result in the offending team losing the game.
There will also be no editing of posts under any circumstances.
All votes, including for the make up of the team and whether a mission is successful or not will be privately PM'd to me, and be revealed when all players have voted.
Current roles:
Fellowship
Frodo - Can destroy the Dark Lord by destroying the One Ring (identifying the Dark Lord)
Mordor
The Dark Lord - The all seeing eye, knows the identity of the Fellowship but must be wary of revealing their presence for Frodo could be His demise
Potential Roles
Fellowship
Boromir - Boromir has a suspicious mind. Although pledged to the Fellowship, the power of the ring has blinded him. He trusts no one. He knows not the identity of any other player.
Gandalf (requires a Saruman) - Saruman not yet completely under the control of the Dark Lord can be influenced by Gandalf. Gandalf will appear as equal to the Dark Lord, Saruman will not know which to trust.
Samwise - Sam's quick disguise as an Orc gives Sam a clear advantage. Considered too inconsequential to the Dark Lord, the All Seeing Eye does not pay too close attention to Samwise and thus his status as a member of the Fellowship goes unnoticed.
Mordor
Saruman - Knows the identity of the Dark Lord. Or so he thinks. Saruman sees both Gandalf and the Dark Lord but does not know which is which.
