Hello fellow citizens of the 10000 Islands, I am running for the position of Senator of New Republica South.
For those that don't know me, I have previously served on the Council of Nine as Senator for Blue Canaria North and Lyonnesse East, and as Senior Senator. I am actively involved in TITO and Taco Island, as well as helping with forum awards and the university.
My goal as senator would be to reinvigorate the Political Party board. For the majority of the last elections we've only seen at most two people running for each office, which is quite disappointing considering there are four political parties. The good news is that we have representation from all in the Co9 at the moment, which suggests to me the problem isn't that the parties themselves are inactive but that they don't have enough members. As such, I will be looking to increase membership of all parties, especially among new nations. I'd like to clean up the introduction posts in the Political Party board to help new players understand how they work, and which party would be best for them.
We also have a delegate election coming up in March. I'd like to see the parties decide there candidates earlier than usual, so that we have time to see a debate or two between the candidates in advance of the election. If elected I will be encouraging members of political parties to declare their candidacy early, and working with the leadership of the parties to help them achieve this.
Finally, I'd like to look at ways to help encourage activity within the political party board. This may involve games or spam, but the goal will be to find things that the parties can compete in as teams.
More broadly, I will be an active member of the Council of Nine and work to improve the 10000 Islands as a whole. I fully support Paffnia's work to increase transparency and invite more discussion in the Senate Lobby, and I will continue to do so if elected.
Thank you all, and I hope I am able to serve you all as the next Senator of New Republica South. Please, if you have any questions feel free to ask them below.
