Friends and fellow citizens of 10000 Islands,
For those of you who don't know me, let me introduce myself. I am a man of humble origins. I won't pretend I grew up in a log cabin, but the family moved into one as soon as we could afford it. I came to these Islands in January of this year, and joined the forums at the end of the month. My highest priority at that time was to join TITO, an ambition soon realized. While I've had some small success in joining missions, what success I've had is entirely due to the assistance and solicitude of my associates and fellow TITO members. Without the superlative communication at the highest levels, and the detailed instructions from my peers, my learning process would have been greatly hampered.
It soon became evident that in order to repay the Islands for giving me a home, I would have to do more. I recently became Emissary for both LCRUA and European Union, which ambassadorial work I find very satisfying, forging strong and lasting relationships with other regions.
Due to the generosity of Senator Siuts, I became a Deputy Senator for Himes West. Evidently that brief exposure to politics lit a civic fire in my veins, for here I am running for Senator.
I took it upon myself to re-establish the Island periodical, which now operates as The Mad Surfer, further demonstrating my civic spirit. But that is merely a small accomplishment in light of what remains to be done. The position for which I am running entails oversight of our political parties. My real goal here is to help maintain a vital and active political sphere; my desire to do that is evinced by the fact that, upon entering the race, I have approached the other parties, TDP, WAPP, and TIP, to urge them to offer a candidate to run against me. To run uncontested violates the spirit of the political arena; it is important to keep the spirit of competition alive. No opponent means no victory.
While I am still a relative newcomer to XKI, I believe I have shown myself to be philosphically and temperamentally well disposed for a life of public service to the 10000 Islands that comprise my home. I trust I have the support of my fellow MSPP members, and hope to see their endorsement of me in this thread.
