Lethoica retires; New Ecopia named Minister of Immigration

Lethoica has retired as Minister of Immigration. He did a great job as MoI and the Islands owe him a great debt. Thanks, Lethoica, for your steadfast devotion to duty.

As a result of his retirement, it pleases me to announce that New Ecopia has agreed to accept this position as Minister of Immigration. He is eminently qualified and will do a great job. Please join me in welcoming New Ecopia as our new Minister of Immigration!

Just to give everyone a sense of exactly what happened/what will happen, as I understand it:

November 17: Lethoica CTE's on NS, leaving the job of Minister of Immigration vacant

November 20: Senate polls close. Immediately upon the polls locking (as specified by NS 225-1), Louisistan replaces Dominion of Compassion as Senator for Lyonnesse East and New Ecopia replaces Siuts as Senator for Himes West. Jabberwocky, as the now-longest-serving senator, is elevated to Senior Senator.

November 23: Woonsocket names New Ecopia Minister of Immigration. In doing so, New Ecopia resigned as Senator for Himes West, leaving a vacancy.

Also November 23: Woonsocket appoints Siuts as Senator for Himes West (Woon may announce this soon, but he has confirmed it to me [in answer to your question, Louisistan].). Siuts will serve on a temporary basis. According to NS 275-2: Senate Vacancies Act, Siuts' appoint will run out in January, when...

January: ...alongside the normal elections for Senator for New Republica South and Blue Canaria North, there will be a special election for Senator for Himes West, to serve the remaining two months of the term (again, as dictated by NS 275-2). Anyone who meets the usual qualifications is free to run.

March: The election cycle returns to normal, and we have elections for Senator for Lyonnesse East and Himes West for normal, full, four-month terms. Again, anyone who meets the usual qualifications is free to run, including whoever won the special election for Himes West in January.

To sum it up, the Council from now until January is:

Chief Executive: Woonsocket
Delegate: Lenlyvit
Minister of Immigration: New Ecopia
Minister of Education: United Royal Islands
Minister of Labor: Paffnia
Senior Senator for New Republica South: Jabberwocky
Senator for Blue Canaria North: Sargon Reman
