United Royal Islands (URI) for Delegate: A Spirit of Reflective Stewardship
Hello, my fellow islanders, after a lot of thought and consideration - and with your encouragement, I have decided to announce my run for Delegate of 10,000 Islands.
Since November of 2016, I have been proud to call XKI my home, and have made many great friends here. So, while I know that many of you may know me, I want to take a moment to introduce myself in case you do not and to provide to everyone an understanding of me that may help in your choice for delegate.
I came to the region as my first choice, almost by accident, yet have not felt the pull to go anywhere else. When I first joined, I was lost and confused about everything -- the way Markanite as Minister of Education, and Boltor as Delegate welcomed me into the region made all the difference in feeling welcomed and seen. Since then, I have dedicated my time to serve the region and to be an active part of the community. With the help of the region, I was able to write and pass World Assembly Resolution #397 - World Assembly Central Library Compact. I was awarded the Rookie of the Quarter in January of 2017, for my engagement and initiative. At that time, I ran for and was honored to become the Senator for Himes West, where I ran the XKI Lottery for 3 months, before then running for Lyonesse East and was given the opportunity to run our House System for another 9 months. During my time in the senate, our former Chief Executive Grub decided to resign passing on the job to Woonsocket. At that time, in November of 2017 he asked me to join the Regional Reserve where I served the region administering our economy for a year. In March of 2018, nearing the end of my term in the senate, I was appointed to fill the vacancy in the Ministry of Education, where I served our region for another 9 months. Normally, here would follow a that I was still in one or both of those roles today, or that I retired and have been doing something else in the meantime -- unfortunately in late 2018 I became sick suddenly, and that required me to pull back from the region all at once. I have since recovered and have been regaining my strength and focus, with all the love and support of the community. I am honored to say that Sargon Reman choose me to remain with the Reserve and help in implementing his vision for the economy as his deputy during my recovery.
Throughout my time in XKI and in the Council of Nine, I have brought my ideas and focus to the tasks at hand, and sought to show leadership through service to the region. I strive in all things to maintain and modify only where necessary. This is the basis of my campaign to become your next Delegate; by bringing the principles and ethic of reflective stewardship I hope to guide our region on the world stage and promote our values globally. Fundamentally, I view the delegate’s duties as primarily administrative, and that the clear and consistent performance of the duties will be our best guide for foreign policy – as our allies and friends can count on our word and trust in what we say. Yet, even with all that in mind, if elected as Delegate, I feel the following areas will be areas which I can bring new energy and focus to:
In many ways, some of this work has already begun, and in others we need to start the work. I want to build on the legacy of our delegates and be a gracious steward of the work that has come before me. I know that without it, 10,000 Islands would not be the region I know and love. I know first hand how a little bit of extra attention can make an enormous difference in the outcomes for our region and internationally. Please join me in celebrating this complex work and working together to build and promote the region we all love – and vote URI for Delegate!

Yet, even with all that in mind, if elected as Delegate, I feel the following areas will be areas which I can bring new energy and focus to:
{Promotion of XKI internationally and immigration}
While our Ministry of Immigration works hard to bring people to the region, for many nations their first perception of the region is through its delegate. I want to work with our immigration team to develop strategies and messaging which help their efforts in recruiting new nations. As delegate I believe that my role will be to champion and advocate for our region and its values.

{Promotion of the forum and engagement regionally}
Likewise, the Ministry of Education is there to help bring new nations to the region and forge the lasting bonds of engagement which provide us all the great new talent and ideas that keeps our system running. I want to work with our education team to help shape regional communications that helps promote their work. As delegate I believe I can be an advocate to the region for engagement and the forum.

{Re-Thinking Foreign Affairs Programs}
While much of our FA programs help us to maintain and grow our international relationships, they should not be immune to critique and evaluation, and where they are failing to meet our region’s needs, they need to change. I want to do this work and where possible seek to improve our programs with the advice and input of our allies/friends, the Chief Executive, and the region as a whole. I believe that as delegate, my role will be to ensure that the machines of foreign affairs is well oiled and maintained.

{Engaging WA activity and writing}
Over the past year there has been a growing trend toward block voting in the GA and SC. This means that even as the most populous UCR, we need to be engaging with other regions to maintain and grow our influence. I believe that by promoting aspiring resolutions authors and seeking favorable vote trades where possible we can begin to build our presence in these forums and bring our values to the table.
