Hey everyone,
We didn’t get there. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement - like anything I get passionate about, I put my heart and soul into this. It’s been my dream to be delegate since... well, basically since I started playing. The one thing left I wanted to do and I have to wait six more months to do it. Those of you who know me well know that I play the game with my heart on my sleeve. When I stand for something and it gets criticized, rejected, or in the case of some raiders in NSGP, outright mocked, I do take it personally. 10ki is my home, the one region I’ve ever actually had a real attachment to. I want to see it grow and flourish in 2019 and beyond, and that demands a vision that’s not based only on ideas from 2004, 2009, or even 2014. So yeah, it sucks. Of course I’m upset about the result. This is a dream come up short again. But I was open and forthcoming about what I believed in and I will not apologize for being bold and honest. I’ve learned over time that playing the game inoffensively, riding the line of “normalcy,” gets you nowhere in the long run.
For those of you who believed in our message, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. But our work doesn’t stop here. Even though we lost, there is still so much we can do to create the kind of institutional change we want. Emissaries, get active in your regions. Get known. Make a name for yourselves here and abroad. If you’re not an emissary, become one. Everyone, be loud. Run in elections. Vote for people with big ideas. Don’t be afraid to speak up. If we do, the discourse will change.
What we did here was historic. This race is one for the books. We piloted a new debate system. We tested the very limits of our democracy. We dealt with negativity and overcame it. And for that I only have all of you to thank. United Royal Islands, you’re awesome. Congratulations, best of luck, and let me know if there’s anything I can do.
For all the rest of you, stop giving me heart attacks when you keep changing your vote.
I don’t know what’s next. But I have a ton of free time and I’m not gonna spend it sitting on my ass. We’ve got some things to do. Let’s get to work.
Much love,
W&S
