The Republic of Hamletus is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Chancellor Iohannes with an even hand, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space, daily referendums, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate, democratic, devout population of 1.16 billion Hamletusians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Environment. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Phoenicia. The average income tax rate is 77.5%, and even higher for the wealthy.
The frighteningly efficient Hamletusian economy, worth 127 trillion credits a year, is led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Tourism, and Trout Farming. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 109,531 credits, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Politicians spend more time in courtrooms than in Parliament, Jack Russells have proven to be terrible spies, government policy is dictated by Hamletusian Catholicism, and truth is often impossible to tell from fiction on the evening news. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Hamletus's national animal is the Phoenix, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Hamletusian Catholicism.
Hamletus is an active member on our RMB who's been here for some time. I find some of their comments quite amusing and I look forward to their continued activity in our region for the future.
