Greetings Islanders, This is a more serious thread I am posting in taco island because of the amount of activity here. I have noticed an obnoxious increase in malicious redirect ads on proboards. I personally have been experienceing them a lot on mobile but it appears it can happen on any platform. So with permission from CE Markanite I am posting this thread and asking that anyone who gets a malicous redirect report it here. Once we collect some information Mark and I will be reporting it to proboards with the hope that they will address and fix the issue.
The report should include the amount of time before being redirected (it can vary and we dont need it to be exact just a rough estimate), the link of the website you end up on, the time and timezone when the redirect occurs, and the device you are using when the redirect occurs.
It may be a bit inconvenient but it contributes greatly to the safety and well being of the islands. It is our hope that this will result in an end to the problem. Thank you for your time!
For the most part, redirects should be auto detected and queued to be removed from the system. Proboards support advised me that this happens daily.
if you encounter the re-direct ads please provide: country, browser type, and OS.
Additionally, if a member encounters a redirect, use the browser's back button to return to the forum as this action helps the detection system. You can then spot which ad is active, report it using the report button and also alert me.
