Taco Island General Election 2023

The Mayor of Taco Island in his beneficence and far seeing wisdom, has seen fit to dissolve the Taco Island Legislature effective March 1, 2023. Soon after the dissolution, a General Election will be held to fill the nine seats of Parliament, with all unsuccesful candidates being sent to the Senate instead. This continues the procedure established by former Mayor Louisistan and subsequently ignored by his successor, Tanzoria. When these elections actually occur will depend upon numerous factors, such as the alignment of the stars, Tarot reading, astral charts,  palm reading sessions with Madame Wu over on 16th Street, and mostly what surf is anticipated.

I am officially announcing my candidacy for MP for South Dingo Island. I will be running on behalf of the United Arctic Coalition. However, if switching parties would gain me votes, I am fully open to abandoning my current party. I am also susceptible to bribes, blackmail, and all other parliamentary standards.

That depends upon numerous factors, as delineated in the OP. But Liberdon seems to understand. They will take place in the first week of March.

My fellow penguins seem to think, though, that by leaving the United Arctic Coalition for a human-led party, I am “committing blatant and utterly repugnant treason”. A load of nonsense, I know. However, penguins are well-known for holding grudges, and while I greatly enjoy slipping mystery ingredients into drinks and food at the Taco Island Restaurant and Bar, I do not wish to receive a taste (literally) of my own medicine. May it please our Lord High King Emperor Despot Mayor Jabberwocky, I intend to run for MP of Taco City, as a member of the Secret Communist Party. I feel it is very important to iterate that as Minister of Labor, I am fully capable and willing of bribing others with Tacos which I can literally create out of the palm of my hand. I feel that this unique abuse of my very important forum powers skill which I have makes me solely qualified to represent Taco City in the esteemed Parliament. I can even use my special skills to make the city bigger, attracting more loyal voters dependent on me for the continued existence of their home citizens to Taco City. I can also crack down on the rampant crime which has flourished under the current MP, Margaux. I can simply use my magic powers to empty criminals' bank accounts, and destroy their homes! Then, they'll live in the Taco Slums and be somebody else's problem.

your foolish and impertinent rejection of my offer has been noted and my coalition will know of your mis-descision to go elsewhere. Your fear of penguin retribution may be genuine, but I should warn you that the knife wielding mermaids of the mermaid peninsular over which I preside as MP have sword wielding arctic cousins. That constituency is so new I've never heard of it. However, it isn't too late to rectify that. Shall I assume you are running for that seat?
