I think that being gay and gay marriage is immoral for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is the fact that I am Catholic, and as a Church we believe it is immoral and wrong. I think that God created man and woman for the purpose of pro-creation, and people shouldn't mess with that. Also, although some countries accept gay marriage, this is not a society as a whole. Besides, I think that the fact that the countries had to pass legislation to allow gay people to get married says a lot. If it is so right and everything, why wasn't it allowed in the first place? Because it is wrong. A lot of people agree with me on this issue. Even Edwards and Kerry have said that they are against gay marriage.Does it really matter what society thinks? For most of known history, slavery was accepted by society. What people did "in the first place" was savage. Our civilization has been progressing so that we don't have to be like we were "in the first place." The Catholic Church often forces its opinions on politicians. Some Catholic Churchs have banned politicians from worship who vote pro-choice. If the Catholic Church offered any reason for what it imposes on our government besides the Bible, that would be acceptable. Religion has no place in our government. Also, the Catholic Church is a dictatorship. God's word isn't passed directly to the Pope, believe it or not. It is inasane that people would consider blindly following the Pope. Also, if gays weren't created by God, then where did they come from? Do you think anyone would choose to just become gay if they weren't to begin with?
