Peace & Freedom Party

We propose starting a political party which would SUPPORT the following three concepts:

1. Liberty: The freedom to do whatever one desires, so long as it does not infringe on the freedoms of others. A true libertarian respects individuality and opposes tyranny.

2. Socialism: A political system where workers control the means of production. More broadly speaking, a society that promotes equitable distribution of wealth and compassion towards the disadvantaged.

3. Peace: The promotion of tranquility and goodwill. A political concept that opposes all forms of domestic brutality and international aggression. Basically, the opposite of war.

This party would OPPOSE the following:

1. Capitalism: The subordination of human society to the accumulation of wealth. It is a system that dehumanizes us all. It pits worker against employer; it destroys families; it impoverishes societies.

2. Totalitarianism: A political system that supports absolute government control over all aspects of civic and private life. Unfortunately, this system is the endgame of most revolutions.

As rational socialists we love liberty; we despise capitalism and totalitarianism.

Although revolution is a tempting method to transform a society, we prefer to act through peaceful means. We believe in political discourse, not in organized terror.

We consider glorification of both Capital and the State to be the foundation of most social evils.

We believe that people matter; not systems of authority; not inanimate objects.

I meant to post earlier. I sincerely doubt a party of committed socialists, even democratic socialists, is going to be interested in joining a trade organization.
Paraskev: the OEE is a EU-style organization minus the common government. We have a non-mandatory shared currency; the Tenk. We discuss imports, exports, economic issues, blah blah blah. It's not exactly a place for liberals; I'm the most liberal guy there, and as such, the poorest guy there. I should go make a website...hmm.

From the political compass test (I suggest you take this aswell), I am the most right wing person around here, and I am also the founder of the Regional Royalist Party. We will probably disagree on most issues, but then again, what would a good debate be if everyone agreed on all points?
I am glad to see a socialist party has finally formed, as it completes the big picture of politics in the 10000 Islands!
