Studio 5A
KBC Headquarters
Arlington, Koponia
Miss Cormell Stone was getting ready for the night's broadcast. The news tonight will surely shock the citizens of Koponia. The cameramen were now in position, her earpiece was positioned in her right ear, and then, a voice sounded in her ear.
"One minute to air, Ms. Stone."
Stone shuffled her cue cards in the specified reading order and sipped the final volume of water she will consume during the whole half hour news programme.
"Five...four...three...two...one..."
A red light flashed as the cameras began rolling and the opening credits to the daily news program rolled...
Narrater: Live from studio 5A in Arlington...the news team from KBC. Presenting Miss Cormell Stone, Mr Eric Balden for sports and Mr Wilson Romel for weather.
Ms Cormell Stone: Good evening, Koponia. I am Cormell...
Mr Eric Balden: I am Eric, bringing you the latest in sports...
Mr Wilson Romel: I am Wilson, giving you weather updates...
Ms Cormell Stone: Our top story tonight, King Lufthanburg VI died of a heart attack this morning. He was 73. King Lufthanburg suffered a massive stroke in his sleep. He was unresponsive when Queen Evenair woke up and he was rushed to Tim Bernard's Medical Centre. He was pronounced dead on arrival. King Lufthanburg will be remembered as the radical leader, who had passed several controversial policies for economic growth. One policy which caused quite a stir in Koponia was the repealing of the "Free Milk For Children" policy. Many older and more conservative members of parliament protested when the idea of repealing of the policy surfaced during the depression in 1982. In a fiasco meeting between the long feuding Conservative and LibDem parties, King Lufthanburg had to personally intervene during the meeting to prevent a brawl. Many will also remember the assasination attempt on King Lufthanburg during the summer of 2001. A mysterious car tried to ram the King's vehicle into the Rein River when he was visiting Arathorn City. The culprit, Moham Johari, 32, was later sentenced to 20 years in prision and 14 strokes of the cane. National mourning has been declared by his wife, Queen Eveniar III for one week. A memorial service will be conducted in Koponia Square on Sunday morning. This will be followed by a short burial service in Arlington Royal Cemetary which is the exclusive resting place for the Royal Family. Princess Eowyn, King Lufthanburg's only daughter, is expected to take the throne.
Mr Erice Bladen: In sports, Arlington Stillos beat the Arathorn Titans in a spectacular soccer match with a result of 6-4. This will mark the end of the colourful 55 year history of the Koponia Cup and my job as sports anchor. As of today, I, Eric will be the new entertainment anchor, filling the position of Mr James Yoma, who died in a tragic car accident last week.
Mr Wilson Romel: Welcome to the weather update. In Arlington, expect light showers around the commercial area and expect clouds to make an appearence in the suburb of Yomania. In Arathorn City, the clouds and rain will be taking a break and the sun will rule the weather for today. Temperature will be averaging at about 22 degrees at its highest and 13 degrees at its lowest.
Ms Cormell Stone: That is all from all of us here in KBC. Good night.
The lights of the cameras went off and everyone was grim. King Lufthanburg was dead and a new, youthful woman will be handed the leadership of the country. The Eowynian era in Koponia has begun...
