As promised, here's an update on Meritocratic affairs since the last update here.
First of all, if any of you are interested, the link to our forum is www.merit.nosync.org. Feel free to stop by and say hello.
On to the updates... well, sorry to have kept you in such suspense over the results of the Consul election, so I'll give you a rundown of how it occurred. In the runoff, the race remained close, and, with only a minute left until the automated voting system declared the vote closed, the Senator Big D Baby was winning by one. However, in that last minute, two voters changed their votes, propelling Roman Nobiles (AKA, the Anti Commi Clan) into the Consulship.
The full results of the election are as follows:
Consul: Roman Nobiles (the Anti Commi Clan)
Quaestor (head of foreign affairs): Afslavistakistania
Censor (head of membership and census type stuff): Objectivist Chimps
Praetor (head of internal affairs): Xiang Gang
Lictor (military leader): Moo-Cows with Guns
Thus for the past month and a half, we have been led by the Anti Commi Clan, originally of Galts Gulch and a founding member of ACCEL, the Alliance of Capitalists, Conservatives, and Economic Libertarians. Under his leadership and the expert care of Moo-Cows with Guns, our Lictor, the Meritocracy has seen a dramatic rise in military prowess, made evident by our effective forays into the Warzones and by our lightning fast liberations and defenses of friendly and allied regions.
Recently, international controversy has focused on the Pacific's application to ACCEL, which, after careful consideration, was rejected by the ACCEL Directorate. The Meritocracy voted against admitting the Pacific, and has seen internal division over the issue. For a full account of the event, I would direct you to check out the article by the InterMet (our news service) on the issue:

Henceforth, as new articles are published by the InterMet, I will be sure to post them here so anyone interested can keep abreast of our domestic and international affairs. The InterMet is run by our brilliant journalist and Aedile Posul, who is also the Secretary-General of ACCEL.
As far as recent internal affairs are concerned, the Meritocracy is currently in the middle of an election for Tribune, who heads our judicial system. Glasguensis, who has held the post for the past two (or was it three? 'Twas before my time, I'm afraid) terms, has declined to run. Soigacas and Warrior Thorin are currently vying for the position, and the results will be known shortly, though Soigacas currently has a lead.
Beyond that, things have been quiet in the Meritocracy. I will be sure to post updates from the InterMet as they come in, and will certainly encourage all of you to check out the next segment of the Posul Show, the radio show that our Aedile recently started (it's rather impressive).
Let me know if you have any questions.
