And what about the people would lose their 'rights', aka, human privileges because they didn't kill someone, but the court thought they had?
We'll just.. you know.. forget about those people.
On the contrary my friend, I'd much prefer getting stuffed with a needle than spending 25 years in a confided space with a bunch of rapists, then spending the rest of my life, I dunno, being isolated from everyone.. even outside of a cell.
How can not having to live with the consequences of your actions be a way to deter murderers? People are capable of making very big errors in long-term judgement, that is why we have suicide and divorce. You're system of deterrence requires a human mind that is more rational than humanity has shown itself to be.

First of all, I should have clarified that such instances of a total loss of human rights (i.e. a conviction of murder) would have to be proven without a shadow of a doubt. In other words, yes I do acknowledge that the criminal justice system is not exactly known for being 100% accurate, but at the point where no circumstantial evidence exists you forfeit your right to be a part of society.
Let me make sure I got this right, so what you saying is that spending a life being taken care of until the day you die is an actual deterence? I see what you mean about how I could kill someone and then be killed and oh well I don't have to live with it, but why then are there so many death row inmates appealing to have their sentences pushed back? By the same token if that person seeks to use the system as a way to escape responsibility for their actions why not take their own lives as many others have done?
And lastly the point is not to protect those who have harmed the rest of soceity, it is to protect the soceity from those who do harm to it. I'm not advocating that every criminal be sentenced to death by any means but there are some crimes that are carried out with such malicious and animalistic intent (murder) that require the law to return the favor in order to protect the whole. The idea that the justice system is designed to protect the victims and prevent future victims and not cater to the criminal must sound crazy to you right?
