What is the Defender party all about?

One night after update as I lie awake in my bed, this thought hit me like a ton of bricks. A 10KI political party built loosely on my ideals, defender ideals, the ideals of an Officer of TITO.

What are the ideals of the Defender party?

I think the first thing that comes to mind when I think Defender Party is defending. Taking a hard line stance on invaders. Doing what it takes to take them down, on and off the battlefield. Many of our members are active in TITO, we seek to work with all Islanders to continue to make TITO the finest defender organization in Nationstates!
Defending is certainly a priority for TDP, but not our only cause. We love the Islands. For many, this is a little cyberspace home away from home. The relationships built in this forum and NationStates are real, and can last a long time. It is essential to the survival of the forum that we maintain a fun, friendly, and fair environment. This forum contains so many different people from different countries and creed's. Everyone must be welcome, and feel at home here in XKI. (Except invaders of course ) Maintaining the awesome environment that is the XKI forum is our other key priority.

Do you have to be a member of TITO to join the Defender party?

No, the defender party will be home to all like minded islanders, defender or not. I feel like it would be essential to have both in order for the Defender Party to be truly representative.

In what ways would your 'right-wing' RL politics translate into the Islands?

Good question. I don't think it will much except that it will likely attract other conservatives. I feel like there is a lack of organized conservatism in the region, and I would like to have a niche for that. Thats I was very clear in stating that we're very open minded and non critical. As well as not really out to change the Islands into a right wing utopia. Quite frankly, i find is nice that real life politics plays so a little a role in the Islands. So are we gonna gt together, maybe talk a little about conservatism, yeah, but we're not out to trash liberals or anything like that. Just forming our own little cluba nd running for offices.

@ Guy. There was atime when I wouldn't considered myself Libretarian, but as I've grown, I've become a bit more moderate, still within the bounds of conservative, but not like I used to be. So I consider myself conservative.

But now down to some business. First off, I'd like to say that we should definatly run a candidate next election. Which is about two months away, so we have some time.

The next election will be for the North and South Seat. If you have an interest in running, feel free to post, and make sure you understand the responsabilities of that seat.

Actually, between Mark and Tak, one of those seats will be empty very soon as one of them steps up to delegate, so there's gonna be a special election.

@echo. Not too much a relationships, its just what we are. Sorta like a party that likes ice cream and baseball. No relationship, but thats what we like.

@ Everyone: It has come to my attention that a special election may occur. I was erring on the side of waiting for us to run for an office, but getting a member in now might be good for us. We'd get our feet in the door so to speak. What do you guy think?

I concur, this special election can definitely begin to introduce us, as you've said, Valonah. Also, should we have internal offices available? Such as Chairman, Vice Chairman, Chief Strategist, and other positions? And for the Strategy department, perhaps three? If we do have Strategists, I would like to be one, if I'm not overstepping my boundaries.

There wouldn't be special elections. Grub would nominate a replacement until May.

But regardless, we can start getting ready for the next election. So If your interested in running for office I have some suggestions for you. Visability is very important. Be sure to post around the forum as well as the RMB. Get your name out there. Another idea, get a job. Be a 10KI buddy, an ambassador, recuiter, something. Being in TITO is good, being a TITO knight is even better. I know when I vote, I ussually pick someone with experience.

So I've been working on ways to build TDP and I have a couple projects in the works. I'm working on getting us our own private thread, much like TIP. Also, I tg'ed Grub about posting an ad on the 10KI WFE. It cost 10,000 Tacos. Unfortunatly, the tacos are down right now. But in the future I may ask for donations, as I don't have 10000 Tacos myself. Thats all for now!

@guy: Really? I have seen a few of the folks (I think PAI was one of them) saying that there is typically a special election in this situation. Not arguing here, just repeating what I've heard.

Grub would only nominate a replacement minister if one of the ministers won an election. If a senator takes on another seat ie: delegate or minister then there is a special election held to replace that senator's empty seat.
