Alessandra Mussolini (born 30 December 1962) is an Italian politician, the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini, and previously an actress and model. She is the founder and former leader of the national conservative political party Social Action; from 2004 until 2008, Mussolini also served as Member of the European Parliament, and has since been a member of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Italian Parliament, for the ruling People of Freedom party.[1]

Some of Mussolini's noted stances are in regards to social views on women's and children's rights and role within both the family unit and society in general.[2]

The Sydney-Brisbane railway corridor is a standard gauge railway corridor that runs between the state capitals of Brisbane and Sydney in Australia.[1] The CountryLink XPT passenger service operates along the route, as do a number of other freight and passenger services. Originally it was made up of the Queensland Rail narrow gauge and the New South Wales Government Railways standard gauge lines that met at Wallangarra at a break-of-gauge in 1888. It was not until 1930 that the standard gauge North Coast railway line was extended by a branch from Casino to Brisbane making through services possible,[2][3] using a rail ferry for the river crossing in Grafton in New South Wales, until a bridge was opened in 1932.[4]

He named the area in honor of "God's merciful Providence", which he believed was responsible for revealing such a haven for him and his followers to settle. One of the first American cities to industrialize, Providence became noted for its jewelry and silverware industry. Sugartooth was an alternative rock band that was formed in the early 1990s.

Marc Hutner (vocals, guitar) and Josh Blum (bass) formed the group after meeting each other on the California band circuit (while each fronting separate groups). They worked with two different drummers over time (Joey Castillo and Dusty Watson). The explosive success of Alternative/Grunge music and the growing appearance of bands like Candlebox prompted record companies to sign a large number of new bands as they came along; Sugartooth as a result quickly signed a contract with David Geffen, and the band's self-titled debut was released in 1994. The song Sold My Fortune became a modest hit after appearing on an episode of Beavis and Butthead and the group regularly opened shows for Slayer, Supersuckers, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden.

Castillo left the band before recording sessions began for the band's followup album. Rather than find a new drummer, Hutner and Blum decided to use a drum machine and hired the Dust Brothers to produce the album. During recording, Sugartooth contributed the music to a song called Tortured Man that the Dust Brothers were putting together for the soundtrack to the film Private Parts. This song would later feature vocals by Howard Stern.

After the commercial failure of their 1997 album, the band split up for good.

The Petition of Right is a major English constitutional document that sets out specific liberties of the subject that the king is prohibited from infringing. The Petition of Right was produced by the English Parliament in the run-up to the English Civil War. It was passed by Parliament in May 1628, and given the royal assent by Charles I in June of that year. The Petition is most notable for its confirmation of the principles that taxes can be levied only by Parliament, that martial law may not be imposed in time of peace, and that prisoners must be able to challenge the legitimacy of their detentions through the writ of habeas corpus. The Petition's ban on the billeting of troops is reflected in the Third Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Background
Charles IParliament passed the Petition of Right in 1628 in response to a number of perceived violations of the law by Charles I in the first years of his reign. In 1626, Charles had convened Parliament in an effort to obtain desperately needed funds for the continuation of his unsuccessful war with Spain. Unhappy with the prosecution of the war, however, Parliament swiftly began impeachment proceedings against Charles' favorite and principal counselor, the Duke of Buckingham. In order to protect Buckingham, Charles was forced to dissolve Parliament before it had voted any subsidies.[1] Left without recourse to parliamentary taxation, Charles resorted to two forms of extra-parliamentary taxation to raise the funds he needed – a benevolence and a Forced Loan – that were of doubtful legality at best. He also began to billet soldiers in civilian homes, both as a cost-saving measure and as a means of punishing his political opponents.

Citing the Forced Loan's illegality, a number of gentlemen refused to pay, and many of them were imprisoned as a result. Ultimately, five of the imprisoned gentlemen – the so-called "Five Knights" (since they were all knights) – petitioned the Court of King's Bench for writs of habeas corpus to force the government to specify the reason for their imprisonment. Seeking to avoid a direct challenge of the legality of the Loan, Charles refused to charge the prisoners with a specific crime, instead declaring on the return to the writs that the knights were detained "per speciale mandatum domini regis" ("by special command of our lord the king").[2]

In the resulting hearings before the King's Bench – the Five Knights' Case – counsel for the Knights argued that imprisonment by "special command" amounted to a fundamental violation of the principle of due process established by chapter twenty-nine of Magna Carta, which declared that imprisonment could only occur in accordance with the law of the land. The Five Knights' counsel claimed, therefore, that the king, upon receipt of a writ of habeas corpus, must return a specific cause of detention, the legality of which could be assessed by the courts. In contrast, Robert Heath, the Attorney General, claimed that the king had a prerogative right to imprison by royal command for reasons of state, and these detentions could not be challenged by habeas corpus.

Faced with conflicting precedents, and, undoubtedly, political pressure, the Court decided to remit the Knights to prison while taking the case under advisement. Although equivocal, this decision was taken as a major victory for the king, and a significant blow to the opponents of his extra-legal policies. It was largely a desire to overturn this ruling immediately that would provide the primary impetus for the House of Commons' decision to create the Petition of Right in the subsequent Parliament.[3]

The Parliament of 1628
Sir Edward Coke – A primary author of the Petition of RightElections for a new Parliament occurred in February and early March 1628, and Parliament assembled on 17 March. As Charles made clear in his opening speech, his purpose for calling Parliament was supply, and he urged Parliament not to waste time in "tedious consultations."[4] Initially, Parliament began to consider Charles' request for funds, but very quickly shelved this in favour of discussing grievances related to the Forced Loan and the Five Knights' Case. Sir Edward Coke first proposed legislation to overturn the holding in the Five Knights' Case on 21 March, and from that date until the passage of the Petition of Right, consideration of grievances dominated the House of Commons' daily schedule.[5] The debates in the House focused on demonstrating that Charles' actions had been contrary to the existing law – the Commons were wary of appearing to innovate, as doing so would likely be viewed by Charles as an assault on his prerogative. On 3 April, the House passed four resolutions declaring that imprisonment without cause shown and taxation without consent of parliament were illegal.[6] These resolutions would form the core of the later Petition of Right. Over the course of April additional grievances concerning billeting of troops and the use of martial law were added to the developing legislation.

On 6 May, the House voted to proceed by way of petition of right rather than by bill, seeing this as the best way to gain a redress of grievances without appearing to overly threaten the royal prerogative.[7] A draft of the Petition was prepared by the Commons, and sent to the Lords for their approval. The Lords, influenced by letters from Charles opposing the Petition, attempted to insert alterations that would have largely nullified the effect of the Petition. The Commons, however, rejected all but the most insignificant of the Lords’ edits.[8] On 27 May, the Petition was finally approved by both Houses of Parliament and presented to Charles for the royal assent.

Initially, Charles tried to avoid assenting to the Petition, and on 2 June he unsuccessfully attempted to satisfy the Commons with a simple expression of good intentions. On 7 June, however, the king made a surprising volte-face, and approved the Petition – though with the simultaneous declaration that the Commons “neither mean nor can hurt my prerogative”. Charles’ sudden approval of the Petition was almost certainly influenced by secret conferences he had held with the judges of the central courts in May in which the judges had hinted that the Petition could not prevent Charles from exercising his prerogatives in the future.[9] Thus, Charles had accepted the Petition without any intention of abiding by it – as would be demonstrated by his conduct during the 1630s.[10]

Content of the PetitionIn enacting the Petition, Parliament sought redress on the following points:

Arbitrary arrest
Imprisonment contrary to Magna Carta
Arbitrary interference with property rights
Lack of enforcement of habeas corpus
Forced billeting of troops
Imposition of martial law
Exemption of officials from due process
The Petition was largely shaped by the common lawyers in the House of Commons, including notably Sir Edward Coke, John Selden, John Pym, and Sir John Eliot. The Petition is retrospective in nature: it claims to merely reconfirm ancient liberties, rather than establish new rights. Thus, it relies heavily on Magna Carta, the Statutum de tallagio non concedendo of Edward I's reign, and various statutes from the reign of Edward III relating to due process as precedents. Pym even claimed that the rights demanded predated the Norman conquest and had been confirmed by successive kings. In reality, however, the Petition significantly expanded the recognised rights of Englishmen. The King was under great financial pressure, and agreed to the Petition in June. In practice, however, Charles failed to abide by the limitations of the Petition (see, for example, Ship Money and the trial of John Hampden). The Petition's limitation of military law jurisdiction prevented William III from disciplining rebellious troops during the Glorious Revolution, requiring the passage of the Mutiny Act in 1689.

Pholiota flammans, commonly known as the yellow pholiota, the flaming Pholiota, or the flame scalecap, is a basidiomycete agaric mushroom of the genus Pholiota. Its fruit body is golden-yellow in color throughout, while its cap and stem are covered in sharp scales. As it is a saprobic fungus, the fruit bodies typically appear in clusters on the stumps of dead coniferous trees. P. flammans is distributed throughout Europe, North America, and Asia in boreal and temperate regions. Its edibility has not been clarified.

The Legacy at Millennium Park is a 72 story skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois, located along S. Wabash Avenue, near E. Monroe Street.

The building contains 360 luxury condominium units, as well as providing 460 parking spaces.[2] Additionally the build includes 41,000 sq ft (3,800 m2). (3,809 square meter) of classroom space for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the lower floors. The site where the building is erected preserves the historic facade of the Chicago Landmark Jewelers Row District on Wabash Ave.

The building's narrow design is intended to provide vantage points of the lake and park for all unit owners.

The Babel fish is small, yellow, leech-like, and probably the oddest thing in the universe. It feeds on brain wave energy, absorbing all unconscious frequencies and then excreting telepathically a matrix formed from the conscious frequencies and nerve signals picked up from the speech centres of the brain, the practical upshot of which is that if you stick one in your ear, you can instantly understand anything said to you in any form of language: the speech you hear decodes the brain wave matrix. It is a universal translator which simultaneously translates from one spoken language to another. It takes the brainwaves of the other body and what they are thinking then transmits the thoughts to the speech centres of the host's brain, the speech heard by the ear decodes the brainwave matrix. When inserted into the ear, its nutrition processes convert unconscious sound waves into conscious brain waves, neatly crossing the language divide between any species.

The book points out that the Babel fish could not possibly have developed naturally, and therefore both proves and disproves the existence of God: Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful could evolve purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing". "But," says man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It proves you exist and so therefore you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. "Oh, that was easy," says man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white, and gets killed on the next zebra crossing. Most leading theologians claim that this argument is a load of dingo's kidneys. But this did not stop Oolon Colluphid making a small fortune when he used it as the central theme for his best selling book, Well That About Wraps It Up for God. Meanwhile the poor Babel fish, by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different cultures and races, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation. Arthur Dent commented only 'Eurgh!' when first inserting the fish into his ear. It enabled him to understand Vogon Poetry - not necessarily a good thing.

The Miracle Fighters is a 1982 Hong Kong martial arts action fantasy comedy film directed by Yuen Woo-ping and starring Bryan Leung, Yuen Cheung-yan and Yuen Yat Cho. Damogran Frond Crested EagleA Damogran Frond Crested Eagle inhabits Damogran, a desert planet where Zaphod Beeblebrox steals the Heart of Gold. A Damogran Frond Crested Eagle incorporated the first two pages of Zaphod Beeblebrox's speech into its nest, which it built out of paper mâché, and "was virtually impossible for a newly hatched baby eagle to break out of." Apparently the Eagle had heard of survival of the species and wanted nothing to do with it.

The Ernest M. Wood Office and Studio is a building located in the Adams County, Illinois city of Quincy. The building was designed by Quincy architect Ernest M. Wood and reflects the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright as such it is an example of Prairie style architecture.[2] The building, stucco and wood was completed in 1912 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 12, 1982.[3] The Office and Studio incorporates typical elements of Prairie style such as geometric shapes and horizontals. A restoration during the 1980s helped to repair such features as skylights, stained glass windows and built-in bookcases.[2]

Fuolornis Fire DragonA majestic creature that, despite having breath like a rocket booster and teeth like a park fence, was revered in the land of Brequinda for the mystifyingly sexy way in which it flew about the fragrant night skies, along with their tendency to bite anybody who didn't revere them. So sexy were the dragons that they would induce mass exodus to private quarters when crossing the full moon. Although generally peaceful, they nonetheless managed to bite and burn other people quite a bit; behaviour which led eventually to their extinction and use in making hamburgers. The most current edition of the Guide has yet to mention this crucial fact, much to the disappointment of hitchhikers. Also according to the Guide, most of Brequinda now seems to contain restaurants selling the dragon meat burgers, possibly indicating that some find the meat tasty. Dragons are shown as part of the defense system of the godly planet of Asgard in the novel And Another Thing... by Eoin Colfer, but it is never said whether or not these are the same or different dragons.

Information theory is a branch of applied mathematics and electrical engineering involving the quantification of information. Information theory was developed by Claude E. Shannon to find fundamental limits on signal processing operations such as compressing data and on reliably storing and communicating data. Since its inception it has broadened to find applications in many other areas, including statistical inference, natural language processing, cryptography generally, networks other than communication networks — as in neurobiology,[1] the evolution[2] and function[3] of molecular codes, model selection[4] in ecology, thermal physics,[5] quantum computing, plagiarism detection[6] and other forms of data analysis.[7]

A key measure of information is known as entropy, which is usually expressed by the average number of bits needed for storage or communication. Entropy quantifies the uncertainty involved in predicting the value of a random variable. For example, specifying the outcome of a fair coin flip (two equally likely outcomes) provides less information (lower entropy) than specifying the outcome from a roll of a die (six equally likely outcomes).

Applications of fundamental topics of information theory include lossless data compression (e.g. ZIP files), lossy data compression (e.g. MP3s and JPGs), and channel coding (e.g. for DSL lines). The field is at the intersection of mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, neurobiology, and electrical engineering. Its impact has been crucial to the success of the Voyager missions to deep space, the invention of the compact disc, the feasibility of mobile phones, the development of the Internet, the study of linguistics and of human perception, the understanding of black holes, and numerous other fields[citation needed]. Important sub-fields of information theory are source coding, channel coding, algorithmic complexity theory, algorithmic information theory, information-theoretic security, and measures of information.

FlayboozFlaybooz are small, gerbil-like creatures. Though flaybooz have no ears, they are extremely sensitive to vibration and can actually explode in extreme circumstances. Thor, the Asgardian and sometime rock god, held the record for spontaneous flaybooz detonation when he debuted his new tune “You Wanna Get Hammered?” from a chariot in orbit around Sqornshellous Delta. The record had previously been held by intergalactic rock stars Disaster Area, who dropped a speaker bomb into a volcano crater where the flaybooz were enjoying a static electricity festival.

Contrary to an almost universal norm, it is the male flaybooz who nurtures the young. A full-grown flaybooz can fit up to fifty young in his pouch, but generally there is only room for a couple, as males like to carry around a small tool kit in case of emergencies, maybe a few beers, and a copy of Furballs Quarterly. Born into a musical family, he studied piano at the Toho Gakuen School of Music,[1] but was fascinated by the conducting activities of a fellow student, Seiji Ozawa. He decided to study conducting with Hideo Saito. In 1974, Akiyama made his debut with the Tokyo Symphony, and within two months, he was named the orchestra’s Music Director and Permanent Conductor.

"I Don't Need You" is best known as a song covered in 1981 by the American country/pop music singer Kenny Rogers. It appeared on Rogers album Share Your Love in 1981.

The song was first recorded and released as a single in 1978 by Rick Christian himself (the song's writer), but it failed to chart. Harry Nilsson recorded it in 1979 and released it on his his Falsh Harry album in 1980, but he did not release it as a single. Madeleine Marks also recorded it for her Self Titled album in early 1981, but did not release it as a single [1]

Kenny Rogers had collaborated with R&B/pop singer-songwriter Lionel Richie in 1980 with the song "Lady". After the success of that record, Rogers asked Richie to produce his next album, Share Your Love. Although the original plan was for Richie to write all the songs for Rogers' forthcoming album, the two men agreed to accept songs they both liked for the project which had been written by others. "I Don't Need You", written by Rick Christian, was one of those songs.[2]

Chosen as the lead single, "I Don't Need You" spent two weeks at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August 1981.[3] The song also rose to #1 on two other Billboard music charts, the country chart as well as the adult contemporary chart.[2] It remained atop the latter chart for six weeks in July and August of that year.

Rogers has been quoted describing "I Don't Need You" as "...still to this day one of my favorite songs", although he admitted that "I don't think I ever met Rick Christian, the guy who wrote it."[2]

Born in Dadu[2], there is little known about him. There are 14 plays attributed to Wang and only three are extant[3]. His Romance of the West Chamber (xi xiang ji) is considered the best and is still popular today. It is an amplified zaju (杂剧), a then popular theatrical form.

Billy Elliot is a 2000 British drama film written by Lee Hall and directed by Stephen Daldry. Set in the fictional town of "Everington" in the real County Durham, UK, it stars Jamie Bell as 11-year-old Billy, an aspiring dancer, Gary Lewis as his coal miner father, Jamie Draven as Billy's older brother, and Julie Walters as his ballet teacher. In 2001, author Melvin Burgess was commissioned to write the novelisation of the film based on Lee Hall's screenplay. The story was adapted for the West End stage as Billy Elliot the Musical in 2005; it opened in Australia in 2007 and on Broadway in 2008.

When the film was released in the United States, the Motion Picture Association of America gave it an R rating due to "language". When released on video, it was re-cut to a PG-13 rating for "some thematic elements"; this version edited out many uses of profanity.

A plate of scrappleScrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name pon haus,[1][2] is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices. The mush is formed into a semi-solid congealed loaf, and slices of the scrapple are then panfried before serving. Scraps of meat left over from butchering, not used or sold elsewhere, were made into scrapple to avoid waste. Scrapple is best known as a rural American food of the Mid-Atlantic states (Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland). Scrapple and pon haus are commonly considered an ethnic food of the Pennsylvania Dutch, including the Mennonites and Amish. Scrapple is found in supermarkets throughout the region in both fresh and frozen refrigerated cases.

[edit] CompositionLocally called "everything but the oink" or made with "everything but the squeal",[3] scrapple is typically made of hog offal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other scraps, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth. Once cooked, bones and fat are discarded, the meat is reserved, and (dry) cornmeal is boiled in the broth to make a mush. The meat, finely minced, is returned to the pot and seasonings, typically sage, thyme, savory, black pepper, and others, are added. [4][2] The mush is formed into loaves and allowed to cool thoroughly until set. The proportions and seasoning are very much a matter of the region and the cook's taste.[5]

A few manufacturers have introduced beef[6] and turkey varieties and color the loaf to retain the traditional coloration derived from the original pork liver base. Home recipes for chicken and turkey scrapple are also available.[7][8]

It is sometimes first coated with flour. It may be fried in butter or oil and is sometimes deep-fried. Scrapple can also be broiled; this is a good cooking method for those who like their scrapple crispy.

Scrapple is usually eaten as a breakfast food, and can be served plain or with apple butter, ketchup, jelly, maple syrup, honey, or even mustard and accompanied by eggs, potatoes, or pancakes. In some regions, such as New England, scrapple is mixed with scrambled eggs and served with toast.[citation needed] In the Philadelphia area, scrapple is sometimes fried and then mashed with fried eggs, horseradish and ketchup.

The culinary ancestor of scrapple was the Low German dish called panhas, which was adapted to make use of locally available ingredients, and it is still called "Pannhaas," "panhoss," or "pannhas" in parts of Pennsylvania.[9] The first recipes were created by Dutch colonists who settled near Philadelphia and Chester County, Pennsylvania in the 17th and 18th centuries.[10] As a result, scrapple is strongly associated with rural areas surrounding Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and surrounding eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and the Delmarva Peninsula.

Its popularity on the Delmarva Peninsula is celebrated annually during the "Apple-Scrapple Festival" in Bridgeville, Delaware.

In composition, preparation, and taste, scrapple is similar to the white pudding popular in Ireland, Scotland and parts of England and the spicier Hog's pudding of the West Country of England.
