Now that you’ve created a new nation, you’ll most likely be receiving many telegrams from a whole lot of nations asking you to join their regions. Deciding is the tough part, and it can have a big impact on your NationStates experience. Which region is best for you? Well, it depends on how you’d like to play NationStates and what you’d like to expect from the game, and an ideal region would be one that best suits the way you play, fits your personal interests, and lets you feel secure.
I invite you to take a look at [region]10000 Islands[/region] to see what we have in store. 10000 Islands was founded in 2003, and it is currently one of the oldest and most prestigious regions in NationStates. We have a very interactive and diverse community of nearly 2,100 nations, making it the largest player-founded region in the game. This may seem daunting, but every nation, including you, has the potential to stand out in its own way.
We are best known for the Ten-thousand Islands Treaty Organization (TITO), which was founded several years ago after our region was invaded without reason. Since then, TITO has moved with swift action to the defense of many regions that have been attacked unfairly, and has gone on over 1,620 successful missions to date.
We have a strong regional government made up of the Council of Nine, which is composed of the Chief Executive ([nation=short]Grub[/nation]), the Delegate ([nation=short]The Enigmatic Nation[/nation]), four Senators, and three Ministers of governmental departments (Immigration, Labor, and Education). Senate elections are held every 2 months, while Delegate elections take place every 6 months.
Although it’s optional, registering on our forum is very important. Nearly everything happens on the forum, and it’s what makes 10000 Islands the great region that it is, so I recommend you sign up as soon as possible. Among many other things, we have literature, real-life issues, political parties, and a regional map where you can place your nation and add many different industries. We also have a business community: stocks, a lottery, and a shop where you can purchase a variety of items with our currency, the taco (delicious, right?). We even have a roleplaying section, where you can become a part of the international diplomacy and conflicts between nations. One of the forum’s best features, in my opinion, is Taco Island, where you can share jokes, play games, and generally have fun with other members of our community.
If everything seems overwhelming at first, you may want to request a buddy who will show you around the forum and explain the various aspects of 10000 Islands and NationStates.

(1.) Click on “The World” in the left-hand menu, type in “10000 Islands” in the box at the bottom of the page (remember, four zeroes and no comma) and click “Find Region”.

(2.) Click on the button under our World Factbook Entry that says “Move to 10000 Islands”.
