OOC: Ok guys I figured that this RP should be two part deal. This thread being the first part of the RP. Basically, this is the first incursion into our territory before the large scale invasion which will take place in the second part of the RP. The enemy race we are going up against is called the Korvin. They have a slightly more advanced technology than any of the nations in the 10000 Islands currently employ. The "small probe" of our territory will consist of 4,000 Korvin ships, plus about 20,000 fighters. So this is no small thing. Anyway the large scale invasion will be about twice that many of each maybe more depending on how easily we defeat this advance force. Anyway, those are the basics. Let me know if there needs to be anychanges before we begin. I hope to start the RP in about 3 hours from this post. That should give everyone enough time to post any concerns or changes.

OOC: Ok, since no one posted any changes, I am assuming this senario is alright to proceed with.

IC: Out near the fringes of the known galaxy, a squadron of Skipray Blastboats began it's monitering duties of the border.

"All ships this is Commander Brien, begin your scanns of the surrounding space. I'll expect a report every three hours. Good luck and good hunting."

At those words, the squadron broke formation and entered hyperspace to reach their assigned areas. Each ship re-entered realspace approximatley 2 light years apart and began scanning.

Commander Brien's ship remained at the original location and began its own series of scanns.

Six hours later...

Two reports from each ship had been updated and still the border remained lifeless and boring. When Brien had entered the academy almost ten years ago with dreams of battles in far off systems, for the past ten years it had been nothing of the sort.

"If I would have known that this is what it would be like," thought Brien to himself, "I would never have joined up in the first place."

Little did Brein know, the soon he would get all the things denied to him for the past ten years, including a hero's death.

3 hours later...

The night crew was on duty and Brien was fast asleep in his quarters when he was awakened through a violent sudder of the ship. Jumping from his bed he sprinted to the command cabin where the relief men were trying to get the situation under control.

"What the hell was that," inquired Brien.

"Well sir it appears to be another ship, unkown class and origin. I've never seen anything like it."

"Well don't just stand there return fire and alert the rest of the squadron that we need reinforcements now."

"Aye sir," replied the officer as the ship moved to intercept the intruder.

As the other ship came into view, Brien realized that they had made a big mistake by engaging it. The ship was close to a kilometer long and had more weapons than he had ever seen on a ship before.

"Sir we have recieved messages from Blastboats two, five, and eight."

"What about the others," said an alarmed Brien just as the ship's deflector sheild failed from another blast.

"There was not response sir, two, five, and eight will be here in 2 minutes."

"We may not last two minutes," replied Brien as more and more lights went from green to red.

The alien ship was not having a problem with the return fire. As most of it was being absorbed by the deflectors without doing damage.

"Why can't we do any damage," yelled Brien who was getting frustrated by the sound beating they were getting.

"Their shields are much to strong for our ion cannons sir," replied the officer as the ship's engines cut out leaving them adrift.

"Great now we're sitting ducks, what is still online."

"Our concussion missile launchers are still able to fire and our targetting sensors are only minimaly damaged."

"Good," replied Brien "What for them to som into view on our next rotation and launch the missiles at their bridge."

"Aye sir."

Slowly the alien ship came into view, they could see fighters disembarking and preparing to send troops aboard.

"Target locked sir."

"Fire."

The ship rocked as the missiles were launched, unfortunatley the aliens reacted instantly opening fire on and destroying the missiles before contact. Then the ships turined its weapons on the helpless ship and with three quick blasts reduced it to nothing. More alien ships began appearing behind this one and the border was suddenly filled with the advance force of the Korvin invasion.

[Parthini]

Colonel Cael Poritono was glad those damned hulks were discarded. The gigantic structures known as "Flotillas" were used in the last war with great usefulness. Now, however, they became too big to manage and the fusion cores malfunctioned a lot. Plus they never used Marines any more.

Cael watched as the hulks exploded into the sun.

The older models of the Carriers were back. They were faster, smaller and there were more of them. The whole fleet had to be reconstructed but forunately 8 were already completed. 25 more were on the way

They were 4000 meters long and had a crew of 12,000. The real use, however, was the things they carried. 1200 Sarthui Fighters, 1000 Forgath Missle Ships, 600 Torath Bombers, and 500 D.V.s, the new enhanced Deposit Vehicles, each containing 10 Marines.

Of those 8, 3 were sent on a regional inspection of the far side of the galaxy; the Shara, the Ulark, and the Murg.

Colonel Cael was to join them aboard the Murg. He had 5000 of the finest Marines in the Universe and he thought he was ready for what was to come.

Ensign Firil was just out of the Naval Acadamy. He was only 17 but he had graduated at the top of his class. Now he was aboard the finest the Grand Navy had to offer, the Flagship Shara. He stared at the most up-to-date radar in the Prince's domain. He saw a small Aurigaen squadron with him. He smiled and sent a greeting to their commander, Brien. As he was typing he noticed a disturbance on his radar. There seemed to be thousands of streaks on the screen headed for the Shara. He screamed at Lieutentant Righ to pull up the shields but his scream turned to nothing as teh deck was anihilated in a wave of unholy death that only something as alien as was in front of them could come up with.

The Shara was crippled. The Fighters and Missle ships did their best to escape, but the alien ship was destroying most of what was coming out. The DVs shot forward as the Marines disembarked.

One Marine fired his shoulder missle and it flew directly into the engine of one of the aliens. It exploded and the Marines cheered. The next moment a cannon from the larger ship incinerated the Marine.

The rest of the battalion shot forward towards the mothership firing their guns. The other battalions in the other two ships began to engage.

OOC: Good to see we're underway with this. Anyway, now that we are in the first skirmish here with the Korvin I'll give you their full numbers and such. The Korvin advance force will consist of:

60 Schiltrom Battleships (about 3 times the size and armament of the first ship in this thread)
180 Mantlet Battlecruisers (the first ship in the thread)
560 Abyssan Clanships
700 Auger Cruisers
(the above ships are the only ones that carry fighters)
1000 Shapcraft Deadnaughts
1500 Gallowglass Assaultships
(the above craft are the equivalent of the Skipray and Firespray craft that I use. Think about the size of a freighter but a combat craft)
12,000 Assorted Fighters, Bombers, and Interceptors.

Ok, with that out of the way, the Korvin incursion is spread throughout four points along the border so in other words take the total numbers and divide them by four to see what you're up against. So that means we need to cover all four invasion points to even think about turing them back. This is where NAG, Serconea, and Sheynat should come into the RP so the Korvin don't flank me and Parthini. I think that each of us should take a point of the invasion as our initial defense point and then spread ourselves out to help reinforce our weakened areas. Don't wipe yourselves out too bad in this thread because the bulk of the invasion will be twice this size and that is in the second part of this RP. Just lose enough of your ships so when the rest of the invasion shows up we'll survive by the skin of our teeth.

IC: Blastboats two, five and eight showed up just in time to see the Shara be crippled by a hail of fire from the enemy fleet. They immediatly moved in to the attack firing on the auxiliary ships while they sent a message back to the fleet:

This is fringe squadron Alpha 3 requesting the prescence of the entire fleet at theses co-ordinants immediatly.  Are under attack by unknown enemy, multiple incusions, they are seemingly unstopable.

Boats two and five came under the heavy fire from the alien command ship as they accelerated beneath it engaging the fighters. Boat two evaded the blasts for only a short time before getting clipped by a stray turbolaser and exploding uselessly against the ship's shields. Boat five had considerably more luck as it flew free of the carnage and tried to engage a fresh squadron of fighters but was cut short by enemy weapons fire and was destroyed. Boat eight was blown apart by an entire squadron of fighters when it tried to make a run for what appeared to be the flagship.

OOC: I'll post my IC fleet deployment tomorrow morning but I thought I would give you the numbers now so you know what kind of contribution you will get from me. My out-of-system defensive fleet will be the one coming to repel the invaders it consists of:

Admiral Ahmed Mohammed had seen war. He was a veteran of the conflict with the pirates, and of others. Bloodshed just seemed to follow him. There was no way a war could be fought here, out in the boondocks of the galaxy, where there was almost nothing alive-
The deck shuddered under his feet abruptly, reminding him of earthquakes he'd lived through-veteran that he was. he'd never been aboard a vessel that had taken a direct hit. Consoles on his bridge exploded, briefly reminding him of the old drama Star Trek. Captain Kirk never had to deal with a fried, shredded Ensign, he realized as he rushed to an officer that had taken an explosion full in the face. "REPORT!" He bellowed to anybody listening, almost slipping in the ensign's blood, going to his knees and starting first-aid-but the kid was dead. "We've been hit!" One lieutenant wailed in reply. "Oh, gee, really? Wouldna' thunk it!" Another voice snapped. That'd be Master Chief Jones. Why was that man not an officer? He asked himself, rising from the corpse. "Well, shoot back, Lieutenant!" "I am!" He went to his chair, looking at his console, and what he saw nearly unmanned him. "That's more ships than the d**n pirates had..." Jones, a fellow pirate war veteran breathed out. "Yeah. Status report!" "Decks 11 and 12 are open to space. Nobody alive. Weps are working, as are shields, but engines are damaged. Should be able to move, but not effectively." The Arab whispered a curse, running a hand through graying hair. Here he was, barely even forty, youngest Admiral of Sheynat, one of the youngest in the Islands, and starting to go grey. Whatever. No time to worry about that. "Are we shooting back?" "As best we can." "Order the Coctyus to lauch all fighters." A pause as the LT tried to fulfill his order...then a nervous, almost crazed laugh. "The Coctyus is gone, sir." There was a long moment where his mind simply refused to process what he had just been told-ended by another shudder of the ship. "Call home for reinforcements!" He ordered. "We're being boarded!" A cry from behind him. Would his worries never end? He drew his sidearm. "Deploy Marines as necessary, soldier. Comm, send out a distress call. Tell anybody who'll listen we're in trouble." The other ships of his fleet were shooting back. His weapons officer had already found the engines to be the weak point and was methodically blowing them up by concentrated fire upon the engines, but there was just too d**n many of them. He heard pounding at the bridge bulkhead. He whirled, leveling his pistol at it, joined by Jones with his assault rifle. One by one, he could hear his ships calling in captured reports, The nearest Sheynati fleet would be here in 15 minutes-but his would be overwhelmed in a fraction of that time, he knew instantly. The bulkhead finally gave under constant, insistent blows, and the aliens who bounded through were not a pleasant sight. He shot one, blowing off the top of its head. Behind him, Jones went rock-and-roll with the assault rifle, mowing them down easily. He popped off each one that showed its head in between bursts-when a third, much larger shudder rocked the vessel, throwing him and Jones to the deck, and blowing every console on the bridge, killing all Sheynati officers except him and Jones. The two men tried to scramble to their feet amidst fire and blood, only to catch the butt of the enemies' weapons across the head, sending them to the deck again in the darkened, broken bridge. They didn't know it-they were unconscious-but they were the first prisoners of the war.

Captain Nathan Barnes saw he'd arrived too late for his countrymen-but allied vessels were nearby. He screamed out an order for all fighters to be launched, and immediately engaged the enemy, sending out a signal to any allied ships, knowing there weren't any. He didn't know about the pther three points in the galaxy where a similar fight was occurring. "Can anybody hear me or am I alone out here?" He grunted out a curse at the lack of response. "This is the SRV Mohammed." He cried into the comm system, not knowing that the man his vessel had been named for was a prisoner of the enemy. The fleet that had been here before had bought him some time, and he deftly wedged himself and his fleet between the enemy and his allies, sending reports to all allied vessels that the Sheynatis had arrived.He knew there were similar reports coming from four different points in the galaxy, all of them held off more by tenacity of the region's fighters than by numbers. "Let's hope this works." He murmured to himself softly.

OOC: I was meant to be part of the main fleet? Alright then. I'm covering the fourth probe

IC: You're cruising along in the middle of nowhere when a battle breaks out. Isn't that annoying.

Danielle Frinton was just in that situation. She was making her way making from mining in the outer frontiers in her ship, the Trendogad.

If this was any other battle, she'd have legged it. But this time, she saw who the sides were. The Korvin. They'd shot up a space station she'd visited. They were ruthless.

Right, she thought, let them eat rocks.

The Serconean Star Fleet, consisting of about 800 vessels and 5,000 fighers, had jumped out of hyperspace, above the Korvin fleet.

Admiral Preston stared at the fleet.

"Fire at will". He ordered

A bitter exchange of fire took place. Ships exploded left, right and centre. These novices never really thought about the third dimension, did they?

Suddenly, he saw something speeding towards the Korvian fleet.

It's a civilian, he thought. Idiot. They're space dust.

Danielle sped her ship towards one of the Schiltorm battleships. She had big rocks and she intended to use them...

[Parthini]

OOC: Does anyone mind if I have the 4th fleet invade Parthini? I would like to do the urabn combat that was in Halo 2 in Parthini. Feel free to join in too

IC: The Newly Appointed Grand Prince of Parthini Wentlu grinned at himself. He was at the death bed of the last Porafi prince. That Prince never decided who was to be his successor so the Prolocutor decided that the only other person at the death bed must have been the secret sucessor. That was a lie, but that was done with now.

Wentlu looked at the sky. There were no clouds today. That was strange. The sky was also strangely bright. Very odd for this late winter.

As he turned to go eat his breakfast a laser 1/2 a mile wide obliterated the north side of Perfasi. Then the sky turned black with pods. The sins of the Prince were coming to haunt him.

It was very dark, and his head hurt. He gradually opened his eyes. Something was on his face. He moved to feel it. His arm was jerked back, and he was screamed at in a language he did not understand. He replied, in a muddy mix of Arabic and English. "What's goin' on?" He asked his interlocuter in a slurred voice. He did not get a response he could understand. Gradually, he returned to full consciousness. The last doomed moments of the Acheron returned to him. He could very well be the only survivor-he turned his head, and saw another group dragging Master Chief Jones, much like he was being dragged. No. There were at least two. But they were captives. Was Jones alive? He was-yes, he was moving. Not struggling-the bruises suggested he'd tried that and learned his lesson. He didn't quite dare call out to the man. Soon, he was flung into a cell. His arms freed, he began checking his head for damage. There was a long cut along his forehead. One which would certainly scar. That was the least of his worries. He looked around his cell, slipping out a flask of whiskey, holding his head sideways and pouring it over the cut to disinfect it. That would only make the scarring worse, but hell with it. The enemies' hospitality to their prisoners did not speak well of them. He ached all over. Something hard was in his mouth. He spat into his hand, and found it to be his tooth. Had they roughed him up after capturing him? What good was there in beating an unconscious man? A middle-aged man at that. Barely middle-aged, admittedly. But he was no youth. He took a gulp from his flask and returned it. And as Sheynat's greatest stellar-naval strategist gradually settled down to his imprisonment, the war raged on.

The Sheynati embassy on Parthini was not considered insecure. It was on allied soil, after all. But Sheynat and Parthini were nations of vastly differing politics, sharing few values. They had a similar moral code, and a similar warrior ethos-the Sheynati brand admittedly not so strong as the Parthinian. But the differences caused protests, and necessitated a contingent of Marines to guard the Embassy of Sheynat. All Sheynati embassies were guarded, but this contingent was somewhat better armed and trained than others. They'd never had to break out those armaments until now.
"What. Just, HAPPENED?" Captain Moe (short for Mohammed) Akbar screamed. "Looks like half the city just got freakin' leveled!" A marine shouted. "Well, no, really? I didn't figure!" Moe snapped at him. "Then why'dja ask?" "Okay. I walked into that. No time. Set up the heavies, call the Prince, and call home." He turned to stare at the devastation. "Should I roll out the tank?" "Yes. Man the tank, get it ready to defend. Take no offensive action until the Prince acknowledges our intent." He was already thinking offensively, he realized. Well, hell, the Ambassador he was ordered to defend was surely dead. He lived in the half of the city that had just gotten zapped, and hadn't come in to work yet. A comm unit was pressed into his hand, and an extremely concerned Sheynati bureaucrat was on the screen. He technically held rank, but he was still a suit... "What the hell is going on, Captain?" "Parthini is under massive assault. Half of Perfasi just got leveled." "Nuclear assault?" "No, sir. Looked like some kinda superlaser." "Great. Death Star." "No sir, we'd all be dead. I think more along the lines of the Unconsciousness Star, or possibly the Seriously Wounded Star. Maybe the Oh My God I Just Got Shot Star. The 'crat stared. "You're a funny duck, Captain." "Yes, sir." "Defend that embassy." "With all due respect, uh, if the Prince requests our assistance, I intend to roll out." The 'crat considered that. Protocol demanded they stay in this embassy at all costs, but the 'crat would be able to hear the screaming over the comm. "I amend my previous order, Captain. Remain in that Embassy, unless Prince Wentlu requests your assistance. I leave it to your discretion whether you grant his request." "Yes, sir. And sir?" "Yes?" "Send backup." "We'll try. You're not the only ones getting hit." The 'crat cut off the communication. The entire conversation had taken barely a minute. He looked up. The pods were not on the ground, yet. "Okay, someone trying to get hold of the prince?" He recieved an affirmative answer as he manned a heavy gun. Marines were herding in Parthinian civilians that had been caught on the street in order to give them some semblance of shelter. He turned. "Once there's no more within range, I want you to get them aboard the Ambassador's personal craft and get them to Kahsa until the battle is over." He told the Marine. He nodded, and Moe turned back. He let out a whistle between his teeth. "This is not good."

ooc I hope you dont mind. I enjoy FT fights. although i would enjoy a more well devoloped plot. maybe some kind of evil plan that no one knows about. why are the attacking?

IC It was two years ago when the civil war ended and the new republic was born. Fleet commander Talim remembered the desparate fight against the rebels. little did she know she would soon fight along side her former enemies.

the captain of a scavenger cargo ship spots drifting debris. He sits down in front of a panel and determines the origin of the debris. while scanning the debris he detects signs of recent battle.
"what the..."
He then sets a course for the military outpost at vector colony and engages engines. When he gets there he sees a host of foreign ships fast approaching. Colonel Gerad moves his queen and takes his opponents pawn. a violent explosion shakes the chess pieces off the table.
Gerad gets up and races to the bridge of the command ship Sheol.
"Whats happining!?"
"an enemy fleet came out of nowhere"
"give me a visual"
a holographic map appears
"I see.... move cruisers into position, lauch all fighters and gunships!"
1500 fighters and gunships launch from the nearby planets surface. In the distance a large formation of cruisers line up. Gerad watches in horror as the supply station is utterly destroyed.
"Tek cannons online, mines loaded!"
"FIRE!"
the surviving fighters and gunships fall back as the the cruisers fire volleys of seeker mines at the attacking horde. "NO!" Gerad watches as only a small number of the mines make their targets sending them into the next world. A small force of sapper ships arrive to reinforce the defenders. the defending ships fall back and surround the sappers. the sappers then switch to full power and send the excess energy to the defenders.
"weapons at 151%!, Shields at 147%!"

OOC: We usually find out why they're attacking us after we keep them from obliterating us. Priorities

Oh, and for some more in depth knowledge of our nations take a look back at the other RPs.

IC: The city of Poraf was chaos. Many of the surrounding clans were trying to get within the protective dome, while the young men of Porafi were attempting to get out and towards their now decimated Capital. 600,000 Militia were being sent aboard trains to Salmaag to be sent up the Fasi to the remnants of the Capital. Militia were Porafi men who didn't make it to the Marine Institute to become full blown Space Marines, but still honored their clans enough to fight. They, as regular Marines, were divided into clans. They only carried the standard issue Depleted Uranium Rifles the Marines had, but lacked the Thermonuclear cannons, photon blades, napalm hoses, and fusion jet packs. What was lost in those was the desire to be as good as any other Marine out in the Galaxy.

The shipyards in Gernu began to triple even quadrupal time the production of the Carriers. In the mean time, the fighters and Marines were being shiped out to Perfasi. The whole country was pulling their weight. Rashia opened up its port to all who were willing to join the fight. Algashian CEOs were donating Trillions of dollars to the war effort. The Piratics began to send their privateer fleet to engage whatever destroyed their favorite drinking hole.

OOC: No, Pathini, the invasion is a good idea. It'll give my ground troops something to do. Serconea, if you need more ships to help out with your defense just let me know, I should be able to spare close to 350 ships from my in-sector defense force.

IC: "Admiral, we have a transmission from the border patrol vessels. It appears that they are under attack by an unknown alien force. A Parthinian reaction force has slowed down their advance but not stopped it. They need the fleet there immediatly."

"Very well, give the order when all ships have been notified make the jump to lightspeed," ordered Fleet Admiral George Kasey.

"Aye sir."

Five minutes later...

"Sir, all our ships spread throughout the Islands have responded and made the jump to the incursion point."

"Ok ensign, how many ships are with us right now?"

"Four hundred sir."

"Good," replied the Admiral, "Make the jump to lightspeed."

The starlines unfolded and the Aurigean fleet jumped into battle.

"What is our ETA ensign," asked Kasey.

"Thirty-five minutes sir."

"What about the other elements of the fleet?"

"They will be arriving sporadically at the battle sight for the next two hours and ten minutes. We will be the first and largest segment to arrive."

"Get the crews to their fighters, I want the squadrons launched as soon as we revert back to realspace. Send the orders to the other ships. Make sure that our axial superlaser is ready to fire, we're going to need it."

"Orders sent sir."

Thirty-five minutes later...

The Aurigean fleet re-entered realspace in the middle of a pitched, but very one-sided, battle. The alien's were giving a thorough beating to the remaining Parthinian ships who were outnumbered badly.

"Move the fleet into position and commence firing on their command ships. Have the fighters engage their auxiliary craft, if we can eliminate thier fighters we can take out their biggest threat."

The Aurigean fleet moved into position and began engaging the alien's at close range providing much needed support to the decimated Parthinian battalion.

"This is Fleet Admiral Kasey," transmitted the Admiral to the disabled Parthinian command ship, "It looks like you could use a hand."

[Parthini]

Colonel Cael recieved a foreign signal. It was Aurigaean. He wispered thatnks to God. Of the three battalions that had engaged, over 2/5ths of the Marines had been killed. Most of the alien fighters had been destroyed and several of the support ship were decimated. One had even been captured, thanks to some Aurigaean troops. Still, he knew they would eventually be outnumbered and began to plan the suicide attack. Fortunately there was no need for that now.

"This is First Colonel Cael accepting your wish to rid our space of these scum. Our Fleet Commander is dead. I am now in control of the Royal Troops. The majority of the fighters are destroyed. Concurrently, I will be ordering the regroup and assault on the main ship. It would be greatly desired if you would be so kind as to help take out the smaller guns. Those are the biggest problems for us. Our fighters will begin assualting the smaller auxilary ships. Cael out."

[Parthini]

The whole Princedom was suddenly leaderless. The entire Council was destroyed along with the Prolocutor and the Prince. Most of the military higher ups were dead too. Even some of the Chairmen of the various companies were dead, too. The militia was being led by an upstart young Colonel named Urgar Poraltin. There was no one who could choose the next Prince. Things were worse than previously thought.

Worse yet, some parts of the Princedom were seething with rebellion.

Even though thousands of Milita were dying to protect them, many of the citizens of Perfasi gave in to the invaders. It didn't help that Rashia and Algashia were attacked similarily. The Tribal Alliance was falling apart.

The Piratic frigates sailed forward. Lord Protector Smet was the brother of the recently deceased Prince. He was an average sized fellow with graying hair. Raised at the Naval Institute he had a good grasp on English grammer, unlike most of his companions. He was reaching his 50th year but that didn't slow him down. He knew something was up with that new Prince. But there was no time for that. The other Prince was dead too, as well as the rest of the Parthinian Beaurcracy. "Guess that makes me Prince, eh Kilk?"

Kilk was Smet's lifetime companion. Kilt was over 7 feet tall and probably autistic, but most thought he was retarded. Smet knew he wasn't stupid but sometimes he lacked in intelligent debates. Kilt was still the best damned shot on his whole damned fleet. And he was good at cards. But now Kilk was needed for his strong lack of emotion.

"Boy send us straight for that big damned thing straight ahead and as soon as we get close I want us to blow those wretched things right out of my sky.
"Aye aye, Lerd!"

Smet didn't even have a clue what those things looked like. Didn't matter to him. They were as good as gone as soon as his Kilk got close to them.

Captain Akbar spat on the ground elaborately, expressing his disgust without words. "Who the hell is in charge of Parthini?" "I don't know, sir." His lieutenant admitted. "Isn't it the Lord Protector?" "For all I know, he's dead." "Make some freakin' calls! Find out who is in charge! Also, order everybody to mount up. We're going to get our law enforcement on." "We're only one company, sir." "And right now, there are zero companies trying to enforce order. Either way, we're in danger. Do it, Lieutenant." "Yes, sir!" The Lieutenant replied, apparently not as hestitant as his protest indicated. He loaded his rifle, and turned to lead the men out of the embassy.

Admiral Mohammed was eating. He'd been given some food-bland, but nourishing. Classic prison grub. He missed his wife. She was probably in her church. He was a Muslim, but he'd married a member of Sheynat's Caucasian Protestant minority. She was probably praying for him. He couldn't stand to think of her worried, but he couldn't help it. And his daughter...he hadn't seen his daughter in too long. He examined his surroundings. The bars of his cell were locked electromagnetically. Dumb. When the power failed, so did the bars. But what were the chances of a power failure? Well, hell, he'd been lucky before. Hero of the Republic and all that. He finished eating-it'd been some odd white meat, kinda chickenish (wasn't everything, though?), and a saladish concoction. He returned his tray to the dumbwaiter contraption that had delivered it, and watched it recede into the wall.

Meantime, Sheynat was throwing eveything they could without leaving themselves undefended at Parthini. Fleet Admiral James Harper was commanding. He technically outranked even Admiral Mohammed-a situation Harper was not so arrogant as to think was the correct order of things. But there could be only one fleet admiral, and Mohammed had shown himself to be the superior admiral after Harper had acceded to the post, and that was that. Plus, Mohammed had only been entrusted with tiny fleets-fifteen ships maximum. Harper was commanding a fleet of eight hundred. He'd gotten it done with his fifteen ships, but who knew if he could handle more? "ETA." Harper ordered curtly. "Thirty minutes, sir." "Too long." "We're going as fast as we can." "I know. Don't worry, I hold no blame." He grumbled as he said that. "Just wish we could go a little faster..." Didn't every Admiral wish that? No time for this philosophizing. He had a war to fight, and two POWs to save.

[Serconea]

The Serconeans were doing badly. They'd lost almost 250 ships in less than half an hour.

Admiral Preston decided he needed help and fast.

"Ask the Aurigean fleet if they have anything to spare. We need everything we can get out here!" he ordered.

[tzen]

At capital city New Tzen a guard gives a message to president Kefka. After reading it he tears it up in anger.
"Assemble the war council!"

at vector colony the space surrounding the planet was littered in lifeless debris. the colonies filled with the smell of smoke and death. Gerad had escaped the carnage with a small force of survivors. Tzen had lost the battle.

[Beta Aurigae VII]

"You heard the man reform the fleet and commence firing on those damned battelcruisers that seem to be beating us to hell and back," ordered Admiral Kasey who was pretty pissed off at how things were going in this battle. The other flet elements had arrived and counting the losses sustained before all elements arrived they were out about 300 ships. They were mostly Blastboats and Firesprays, but they had lost about 40 MC-80's and Star Destroyers to the alien force. The battle was begining to turn.

"Aye sir."

The Aurigean fleet reformed and created a perimiter to leave room for the Parthinians to do their thing.

"Have all remaining fighters move towards the command ship and draw its fire away from the Parthinian attack. Make it convincing too guys, if you have any torpedoes and concussion missles left now would be the time to use them."

"Orders transmitted sir. We are receiving a distress call from the Serconean fleet sir, they appear to need out help and fast."

"Well we're pretty occupied right now, but send a message to Admiral Leighton and have him divert his command ship and as many big guns as he can while still maintaining a sound defense of the system."

"Aye sir."

"Admiral, incoming message from Fleet Admiral Kasey. The Serconeans need our help at one of the incursion points right away. Our orders are to take the command ship and as many others as we can spare and go bail them out."

"Well an order is an order, notify the fleet and send a message to the Serconeans that we are on our way," said Leighton.

Admiral Preston, this is Admiral Tim Leighton of the Beta Aurigean in-system defense force.  We will be at your position with three-hundred and sixteen ships with in the hour

"Are the ships in position?"

"Yes sir."

"Make the jump ensign, we have a region to defend."

The small fleet jumped towards the Serconean's co-ordinants hoping against hope that there would be something left when they got there.

Somehow, the Aurigean fleet's Gold Squadron was still intact after many close calls and hours of battle. They were lead by the Firespray Executive Outcome. When the order came over the comm to draw the fire of the alien command ship the Gold's took on command of the other fighter squadrons as well.

"Red and Green squadron this is Gold Leader, concentrate all your fire on the shield generator unit that should get their attention. Gray and Blue squadron take out the surface guns and try to lower the volume of fire from that thing. Silver Squadron this is Gold leader let's keep those turbolasers occupied."

"We're right behind you Gold Leader," came the reply as the Aurigean fighters began their assault. Gold squadron cut in front of the bridge turbolasers and began evasive maneuvers.

"Gold Leader this is Silver Leader, we have enemy fighters heading this way."

"How many."

"Three squadrons sir," was the reply.

"When they move in behind us, take your squadron and peel off to engage."

"Aye sir."

Silver squadron peeled away from the Gold squadron and began to engage the enemy fighters.

"Gold group, this is Gold Leader, break formation and engage the enemy fighters. Take them as close as you can to the alien ship and see if you can catch them in the crossfire."

With that the squadron split apart and began to engage. The alien ships, though more heavily armed were no match for the maneurverability of the TIE Defenders of Gold squadron and they began to drop like flies.

[Parthini]

Colonel Cael saw the feint. He ordered full speed. It was an awesome sight. A wall of 10,000 Royal Space Marines shot forward at exact times. Then, at exact times, they retracted their nuclear launchers and fired. A wave of nuclear destruction flew towards the gigantic craft. Just as the missles were about to hit, the shields fell and the missles hit home.

The kilometer long ship rocked backwards. When the clouds of debris were gone, a gaping hole was left in the side of the ship. At that moment, the Bombers opened fire and caused more havoc. Then the Marines shot forwards. Cael's arenaline was at full bast. His monitor told him to take calming pills or he would be unable to control his body. The Marines lack of enhancers left monitors offering usually irrelevant information.

Cael saw the remnants of the guns turning on the wall of Marines. As he turned on his overdrive he saw the two men beside him turn to dust. These guns were powerful no doubt. He was only about 500 meters from the ship. He turned on his photon blade and began shouting. These alien scum were as good as dead to this angry horde of Clansmen.

Kilk grunted when he saw the enemy fleet. He calculated the chances and told his captain. Smet laughed and Kilk grunted again. "This will be fun!"
"ARRR!!"

The pirate fleet moved forwards. Their radar jammers seemed to be working. The aliens were too busy with throwing all they had at the small island empire to deal with simple pirates. Simple, bloodthirsty privateers. As the fleet moved forwards, they turned. Smet was down at the cannon deck. He was in one of the seats and he had a grin on his face as he ordered the ships to fire.

"we do know that scout ships at vector saw them leaving at this course, the scouts have been following them eversince"

At exeter colony General Setzer recieves a report on Korvin movement. He remembers two centuries of war and wonders why it still happens.
"send mirror force 3"
"aye" the comm officer finds his post.
"Mirror force 3 you are go! I repeat mirror force 3 you are go!"

What looked like 20 Korvin fighters reach their destination. Captain Gau observes a desperate battle from the deck of the command ship "Alpha Mirror".
"do we engage?"
"send the dreadnoughts, return to Exeter as soon as the enemy is neutralized. 15 of the "Korvin fighters" move forward and engage the enemy. the remaining 5 fade until they cant be seen.

[Beta Aurigae VII]

Admiral Leighton's fleet had arrived just over twenty hours ago to find wha was left of the Serconeans hanging on by a thread. He immediatly ordered his ships to open fire on the command ship and to move the fleet between the Serconeans and the Alien fire to give them time to regroup. With his Super-Star Destroyer leading the capital ships into the fray Leighton got his first taste of battle in over fifteen years.

"Launch the fighters, and tell them to keep as close as possible to the Alien ships. Lock down a solid perimiter and keep the Aliens away from the Serconean fleet."

"Aye sir."

The Aurigean fleet moved closer together as the fighters engaged in viscious dogfights with the enemy. The Battlecruisers and Star Destroyers continued to pound away at each others shields niether gainin gthe upper hand.

Meanwhile back with the Parthinians, Admiral Kasey's fleet was beginning to gain the upper hand in the battle now that the Alien command ship was destroyed.

"Move the fleet in and engage at point blank range. I think it's about time we used the superlaser to take care of these bastards."

He rached to the comm button on his chair. "Superlaser team this is Admiral Kasey, fire at will."

"Aye sir," came the reply. And Admiral Kasey sat back to watch the show.

The first alien ship to go was one of the battlecruisers that was still holding out. It was gone in a flash of light and before the atoms even cleared the Sabertooth was seeking another target. Five of the alien battlecruisers were destroyed within a matter of minutes and the aliens realizing a change for the worse in the battle began to retreat back into hyperspace. A great cheer arose from the bridge of the Sabertooth as the aliens retreated, this battle was finally over.

"Send word to the Parthinians and thank them for all the superb work out their, especially those marines."

"Aye sir."

"Then tell them to head back home to resupply and then link up with our fleet at the Serconean incursion point. We're going to head along the border to the next point."

"Message transmitted."

"Alright take us there ensign."

The Aurigean fleet then jumped into hyperspace heading towards the next incursion point and hopefully another victory.

The Sheynati fleet arrived, only to see the battle end. Harper immediately ordered a portion of his fleet to remain behind while the rest wheeled around and went back into hyperspace, heading for the Serconean incursion point. He sent a message ahead of themselves "This is Fleet Admiral Harper of the Sheynati fleet! We are heading towards the Serconean incursion point with five hundred ships! We'll be there within an hour!"
They were there within the promised hour, five hundred ships slamming out of hyperspace right behind the Aurigaeans, immediately pouring fire at the invaders.

[Parthini]

Colonel Cael sighed a breath of relief when he took off his helmet in the Murg's air. The Shara was being dismantled and taken back to Earth space because it was too crippled. The 5 other ships were to rendevous with the fleet near the Saturn Base and then they would continue patrolling to check for more incursions. But there was a problem.

"Kennel. Ah be 'tennant Harlt. I be from th' Cad'my o' P'ratic. Ah comes 'ere from Lord Pr'ecter Smet. 'E says ta give ya dis message."
"Thank you Lieutenant."
"Aye sir!"

Cael read the message and a look of shock came to his face. He had thought that he and the Serconeans were the only ones being attacked. He was dead wrong.

"Ah came 'ere fast as me could, sir."
"Thank you Lieutnenant"
"Aye sir."

"Ahh, one more thang sir. Ah came wid some more Pie'rates sir. Thar be seven o' us."

Six other pirates stepped forwards. Alone they looked like the wildest bunch of men alive. Together they were notorious. Cael was glad to have them. They were known as the Seven Deadly Sins. They were the bodyguards of the Lord Protector. They were the fiercest pirates known. And they were on his side.

In the days without space travel, they assassinated and dueled. They still do it now.

Besides Lieutenant Harlt, there was Lieutenants Jeorf, Hent and Dem, Captains Gorg and Fethr, and Ensign Jilo.

"Welcome aboard... mates!'

On the ground of Parthini things were getting terrible. Casualties were through the roof and desertion was as common as fighting. Assassination of leaders was all too common and the Battalions turned into bandits. The remaining Councillors of Salmaag decided the best way to avoid this was to abandon their homeland. There were still several civilian space stations in operation and production of several colonization crafts were available. In an emergency meeting with the Tribes of Porafi and Gernu a meeting was held to decide whether or not to stay.

"More and more Korvins land every day and our armies get no bigger. If we leave, then we can find a better place to live," a Salmaag councilor suggested.
"After all we have done to protect our homeland? How dare you even suggest such a thing!" retorted a Porafi warlord.
"It is no help that your comrades are incapable of being commanded," screamed the councilor.
"I don't see Salmaag men dying protecting the body of our fallen prince!" bellowed the warlord.

"GENTLEMEN!" hollered a lone Rashian monk. The small man had a tremendos voice that echoed the hallway. "This is our punishment from God for allowing ourselves to become this decadent. We have waisted our time in the Eden. We have ruined it as we were unable to protect it. The Councilor is correct. We must leave our home and be sent into exile to repent for what we have done. If that requires surrendering our land to these vile demons, then so be it! God has cast us out of here to find us a new home, and I believe I know just the man to find it."

The hall was silent. The council voted and in a near unanimous vote, the remainder of the Tribes of Porafi, Gernu, and Salmaag voted to leave the small island home they had fought many years to defend.

The tide was starting to turn with the arrival of the Sheynatis.

Preston watched as the enemy started to turn and flee. He'd lost over 400 ships. A lot of families had lost a lot of relatives today.

He looked at one of the fleeing battleships. Someone was throwing rocks at its bridge and doing it a great deal of damage.

That civilian is still alive, he thought. Wow.

He watched as she broke off and flew towards the Serconean fleet.

An enemy shot blasted through her engine.

"Someone pick that ship up", he ordered.

[tzen]

"welcome back to Exeter, how did it go?"
"as planned, the victory is complete. our long range scouts are following the retreating korvin ships."
"good, now I hear your about to reach your 25th year."
"yes, I will travel to Tzen in one week. I can hardly wait to see the family again."
"are you sure you want to do this, there is a chance you wont survive."
"we both know that, but we still wish to do it."
"very good, I remember it centuries ago.
it was painful and I almost died but I knew that the benefit was greater then the risk."

After the Korvin dual retreat, it was time for the Aurigean fleet to turn its attention on the other breakthroughs into 10000 Islands space. The aliens had met light resistance at one of the incursion point snad the other was never defended and the Korvin had penetrated all the way to the Island of Parthini, their invasion had been taking place for about three days. They had been pushed back into a corner and they were preparing to leave their homeland. The Aurigeans however, would not allow the Korvin to gain a foothold in the region for fear of the new Korvin launching point. The battle to take back Parthini was about to begin.

Seeing the battle coming to an end, the two battle weary Beta Aurigean fleets linked up together to form one large fleet of eight-hundred fifty ships.

"Good work to all of you," commended Fleet Admiral Kasey, "You drove back a superior foe and you have proved your courage a million times over. I would like to say that you can return home to your families but I am afraid there is more work to be done. As I speak with you now, the Island of Parthini is on the brink of evacuation and surrender. We will meet up with our army just outside the system, from there our orders are to give the transports enough time to unload our army and as many marines as your ships can afford to lose. We're not out of the woods yet men, one more battle awaits us." Turning to the ensign he remarked, "Set course for the rendezvous point and engage on my mark."

"Aye sir."

"Mark," said Kasey and the starlines unfolded. The Aurigean fleet headed towards Parthini and the battle they hoped would decide this conflict.

[Parthini]

When the Admiral was killed by the first shot, Cael became the Commander of the military. The remaining captains voted and made Cael Fleet Commodore. Little did he know, but when he was made Commodore, he was made Grand Generalissimo of the Royal Navy. Unfortunatly, that only gave him some 75,000 Marines, 15 Carriers, the Piratic Fleet and the few remaining warlords on the ground totalling only about 200,000 Militia.

Commodore Cael ordered a message of rendevous to the allied fleets to meet at the Torathian Space Center on Titan. He took in a breath and said, "TO Saturn Boys!"

By that time, the entirety of both Cities of Perfasi and Algashi were now taken, their inhabitants slaughtered. Salmaag was nearly completely deserted and the Factories of Gernu were abandoned, the last 10 ships unbuilt. Alrashia was mostly in control by the coalition of allies. Porafi and Parathis were the only remaining loyal Tribes. The remainder of the loyal Militia garrisoned outside of Porafi, while the force field protected it from the deadly cannon above.

As the ships from the Serconean incursion point turned and fled, the Sheynati ships did the same, in another direction. The Sheynati troops around Parthini abandoned their orbit, heading to Saturn...
