On behalf of the 10000 Islands, I would like to invite you to join our region, one of the oldest and most prestigious in NationStates. Whether you are new or an experienced NationStates player, we will welcome you!

Upon joining us, you will receive two gifts: a Welcome Box containing a prize that will be awarded once you hit 30 days on our forum and 500 Tacos, our regional currency, to get you started.

We are best known for the Ten thousand Islands Treaty Organization (TITO), which was founded several years ago after our region was attacked without reason. Since then, we have moved with swift action to the defense of many other regions that are/have been attacked unfairly.
We have a strong regional government made up of the Council of Nine: the Founder (The United States of Grub), the Delegate, four Senators, and three Ministers of governmental departments. Senate elections are held every two months; members who currently participate in governance started where you are now!

Additionally, we have a very active forum with topics and sites devoted to (among other things) role-play and fun and games, discussions of real life issues, literary works in the regional magazine, and our regional map, including the economic, social and political activities related to our regional development. We also have a 10000 Islands business community, stock and investment markets, a lottery, and 10000 Islands political parties. It's all pretty cool and worth checking out. Our regional map has been expanded to offer capitals, industries of different kinds you can develop, and many items for sale using our forum currency, the Taco. Since it takes time to build farms, factories, and the like, purchases and or sales will only be made every three months -- January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each year. Each quarter, reports come out detailing production has increases or decreases, resulting in Taco profits or losses. Juggling the many variables that influence economic development of your nation can be one of the most enjoyable things about our role-playing activities, but there are many other RP possibilities. Here’s a short list of some of the many things we have to offer:

• Freedom – Some regions force you to run your country a certain way, we leave your internal affairs up to you.
• Security – There are some nations who band together to invade regions and disrupt them. Our loyal army makes us impervious to these senseless attacks.
• TITO (Ten Thousand Islands Treaty Organization) – TITO is what we’re best known for. This is a group of nations who seek to defend those regions who have been invaded by the rogues of the game.
• Recognition – We have a large number of awards that you can earn and then show off on your profile and in your forum signature.
• Politics – NationStates is a political game and we have you covered from discussions and debates to free and open elections of our government. Any nation who joins the World Assembly can vote and run for office if they so choose. We also have a variety of political ‘parties’ that you can join.
• Fun – From many genres of role playing to hanging out in one of our bars, from spam to chat, from werewolf games to contests – there is fun to be had.
• Currency – Tacos aren’t just for eating, they’re our form of money and you earn them by posting in the forum. Then you can spend them to buy map items to place in your nation, invest them in the stocks we offer, donate them to charity or blow them buying lottery tickets.
• Knowledge – from a buddy system to help you learn the ropes of the game to our University where you can take classes on a variety of subjects, we believe that the more you know, the more fun you’re experience here will be and we try to help in any way possible.
• Culture – We offer a magazine, a newspaper, a book discussion group and have a Poet Laureate contest every 4 months.
