Technology overview: Many Conorans live in cities with skyscrapers, busy avenues, and subways. However due to years of conflict on the Island much of the Island is in the process of rebuilding and unification. Utilities are absent is some of the more remote areas of the Island (particularly the rural lands of the West) but crews of the Ministry of Power and Water are working to remedy this. Most Conorans with electricity have access to the internet, state television, and telephones. Much of the Island is still based on primary resource gathering and manufacturing, but the technology used is a few decades behind in most mines and factories.

Preamble
Formally founded in 2014 ACE the Republic of the United People of Conora (Common: Republic of Conora, Conora) is a single party, mixed economic state located in the 10 000 Islands. It is currently lead by the Chairman of Conora, currently Hero 1st Class, his Honourable Warnock, Conoran Cross 1st Class. Medal of Valour.

Beginnings
The Island of Conora is almost entirely deciduous forests, with a few beaches stretched along it's coast. While anthropologists are unsure as to where the first people migrated to Conora from is is agreed then started populating the island as early as 3000 years ago. They lived in unity as a single large tribe and thrived thanks to the islands abundant natural resources. Iron working, tools, and agriculture all developed in the early days of the Conoran tribes.


Two Peoples
Around 300 BCE the first organized governments started to form, the Island split into two main cultures the people of the forest (Foresta) and the Danelians. The two groups were able to share the Island for much of it's early history with treaties brokered between the two and only minor conflicts. However in 1200 ACE the Danelians suffering from crop shortages invaded the lands of the Foresters, this conflict became a stalemate and resulted in on and off conflict for over 100 years. This conflict pushed forward the development of the sciences and saw a rapid advance of both societies. Around 1300 ACE a lasting armistice was finally brokered.

Peace and Discovery
Not long after the Great Armistice Conora was discovered by explorers of the fellow world, who introduced trade and new technologies to both the Foresters and the Danelians. The southern coast was settled by English speaking settlers while the north east was settled by German speaking explorers. Foresta became a trading partner and a democracy in 1899 exporting lumber, while Danelia remained a monarchy.

The Great War (1st Island War)
In 1910 Danelia invaded Foresta following a failed assassination on the Danelian King by Foresta radicals. It would devastate the Island, both Foresta and Danelia suffered from restricted exports. The 1st Island war lasted 8 years and world powers were able to profit off the conflict on the Island. Bringing massive trade to both nations. When the war ended both states hadn't lost or gained any land and were quick to leap into a prosperous period.

A Long Peace
However with the prosperity came inequality, both sides of the Island saw a rise in Communist party activity, while Danelia oppressed it, Foresta embraced it. Foresta fell under the leadership of the Communist party in 1945, attracted the attention of Central Russia, drawing funds and arms throughout them. Danelia remained a monarchy and sought arms through anti-communist forces.

2nd Island War
However in 1989, both Danelia and Foresta were hurt financially by a bad export year, paired with crop shortages and in 1991 Danelia declared war on Foresta to capture strategic resources. However the Foresters resisted well and the conflict only bankrupted both states. Both sides being pushed well beyond their capabilities of war and started to fall apart in 1997. Warring groups with Ethnic and Political motivations rose up and took control of cities and towns across the island. Federal power collapsed on both sides of the island by 2000. The official conflict had claimed half half the Islands population.

A Hope for Unity
In 2001 what remained of both the Danalian and Foresters security forces meet and made a truce under the leadership of Foresta General Warnock. They called for an end to the violence and a return to law and order through a single unified Conoran state. For the next 13 years they fought until they had regained control of most of the Island. Once in full control the Republic of the Unified People of Conora was founded. Currently Conora is seeing great growth under the single party leadership of Chairman of Conora, Hero 1st Class, his Honourable Warnock. Rebuilding has progressed quicker than usual thanks to the assistance of the international community. Peace has been a slow process and while most of the Island and all major cities are under the control of the Conoran Defence Forces, the North West Island still sees conflict between Federal forces and radical Danalian rebels who want to restore the Danelian monarchy.
